What if you made a city of purely roundabouts. No straight roads just a map of connecting circles
he did that in cs1
Dont do that. Dont give me hope
You just described Carmel, Indiana.
You just described hell
That's Carmel, IN. It's not bad, but rush hour turns them into two way streets.
"To solve the traffic problem we just didnt solve it and it kept getting worse" whoa cool of you to base it on my hometown
All of our hometowns
We are all in this together. 👍
In my town we just lowered the speed limit 🤷♀️
*USA! USA! USA!*
My guy that's all of North America
Imagine living in this nightmare
"Hey I'm coming over for Thanksgiving what's your address"
"5 billion Road Street"
And your address is 55. "Alright be there in 36 hours"
There is a doctor who episode with this theme!
9:30 Somewhere, NotJustBikes wakes up in a cold sweat, wondering if that 98 lane stroad was real or just a nightmare.
The United States Of America exists, so yes it is real.
What a beautiful idyllic city where everything is walkable. I mean if you want to get somewhere; it's just down the road :]
"What if we increased from fourteen lanes,,, to twenty-eight lanes?"
The Texas Department of Transportation would like to have a word with you.
Literally 😂 DFW inhabitant here.
Another episode of AA discovers American city planning through Cities Skylines
Building a proper late 1800s desert town where cowboys be rootin n tootin in saloon by evening, then shootin in the street by noon
"we didn't have enough money for that, so obviously the best thing to do is... Lower the healthcare budget" yeah sounds right 😆
Wasting money on carefully maintained parks when they could have just left some forest maintained from predators by some rednecks
@@hardy_harnigga what?
@@AnAmericanMusicianit's a joke about the healthcare system. Pretty simple
"Wonder Ection" now that is truly a name worthy of a town ruled by an amphibian of utmost ambiguity.
AA: Traffic was unnaceptable.
Me: Oh, so just connect Road Street back to the highway to make it a big circle, right?
AA: Destroy the whole city
I just realized that everytime he says "but it's our Ponzi scheme" he's also making us part of the system so that if he gets arrested he could say its us and not him.
Man, what a genius.
That's just regular bitcoin/nft/cryptocurrency culture
Yeah, his morals are a bit...
Ambiguous.
@@GalaxiaStarslol what
Really starting to notice the increase in production with bluefi on the team. Good stuff
Yee - thanks!
Is that bluefi making the motorcycle noises? I don't know why, but I lost it at 7:28.
I thought this had some nice new things happening in the video! Love it
@@tykokavaak5784 I believe that's actually taken from a video titled 'nyoooooooooooom' by Video Dubs, more specifically the second clip sped up
I don't really like it. So hyperedited.
The final third sequel to RT’s one road city
Did you know they used to call RT the Drift King back in college?
"FOREVER...for now" My favorite line from this.
In France, Normandy, there is a city named "Le Trait" wich mean "The Line" and it's one veeeery long city stuck between the Seine river and a cliff 😄
American city planners watching this be like 'He's got a point'
Watching cars drive through each other as they attempt to navigate a Flying Spaghetti Monster of a highway interchange is the funniest thing I've seen today
I love that there's a huge ominous forest fire in the background for nearly the entire challenge
I'm in love with whoever is doing your editing now. From the little noises to the image splashes...🎉
Magnificent.
Did you know? 90% of traffic engineers quit adding one more lane right before they solve traffic problems forever!
Best part of this is you can never miss a turn, and if you forget where something is, just take a drive.
Good job, AA. You actually managed to make this game look playable.
"Hey man, where do you live?"
"23,400b, Road Street"
Just follow the road you'll find it
That car crash at the beginning has me losing my sh*t laughing 😂😂😂
jerma
I really appreciate the transparency at the end about almost saying "erection" for so much of the story.
Please give your editor a little forehead kiss (and yourself in the mirror too) for I haven't laughed this hard in months. Thank you!
This reminds me of the village I worked in. It was in a deep valley with sharp cliffs on either side so there was pretty much 1 road. The town was about (9km) 5 miles long and maybe an eighth of a mile wide at the thickest.
Reminds me also of nearby villages. So there is a kinda-former swamp.
"Former" because some monarchic regent in the 18th century saw a bunch of land he reigned over where noone lived because the ground wants to swallow you. "Kinda" because it's still very, very wet there. The earth is also still quite black.
Well, the thing is, you not only have to build a road but also drainage on both sides everywhere. Like hardcore drainage. So they did that. It's villages full of one road. The largest has 2 that meet in the middle in a roundabout.
Reminds me of that city in the desert some megalomaniac billionaire Wanted to build in the desert… it was a long miles long corridor several stories high with a rocket train down the middle
The Line™
This feels very familiar. Rumble Tumble perhaps?
What a treat, to be this early for a treat. 1 view, no comments, and seeing the like number skyrocket as I'm sitting here, staring in awe.

Wow! so cool to see you branching into horror

Dine-n-dashes every meal.
Oh hey, it’s the Katy Freeway.
Also I can just imagine the “far end of town” being the part with all the crime where no one wanted to live.
And I love how you called attention to the fact that the lane widening destroyed a bunch of property space
best end of the week treat i could ever got
_"Now you don't even need to get off at a highway exit, your already there."_
I have been watching your videos for years now and I always look forward to watching them. Thank you for all the joy you have given me.
okay so, this made me look up the Chinese road situation in about 2010 with the 60mile 10 day traffic jam with 50 toll booths. I can't believe things are just as bad in the real word, this is crazy.
Editor chan knocked this one out of the park. Thank you editor chan. I don't know who you are, so you are now Editor chan.
@bluefi is editor chan.
The editor went crazy with this one 😂
One good absolute guarantee about this city is you can always connfirm that yes road work ahead
This might be one of your best videos. The logical conclusion of a 92 lane road at the end was hilarious.
Next version will be 1-Roundabout and will involve single one way road snaking around to it's start.
At this point, I look forward to the naming conventions in each vid 😂
man i remember RTGame doing this way back in Cities Skylines I! Super cool to see others doing this, it's always an interesting challenge
Ambiguous Amphibian getting addicted to the "one more lane" quandary that plagues so many American and Canadian cities.
He truly is Florida Man.
It's not actually a quandry, and adding lanes does actually work. It's socialist disinfo that it doesn't which is based on a false concept (that the extra traffic that can end up causing the same rough time delays on a road after extra lanes are added materialises out of thin air). The issue actually isn't that adding lanes doesn't work it's that not enough lanes are added to accomodate the number of drivers who actually want to use a road, as at any point there's drivers who want to use a road but are unwilling to due to time constraints and an increase in road throughput will reduce the delay up to the point where they're willing to use it, which actually then increases the overall total delay back to roughly where it was but for any specific individual who is now using the road but who wasn't before the delay is now lower than it previously would have been.
Or to put it more easy to understand, there's a road that takes 10 minutes to cross but can only fit 9 people on it, you have 10 drivers, for drivers 1-9 the journey would be 10 minutes but for driver 10 the journey would actually be 20 minutes, which is too long so he does not drive. If you add capacity for the 10th driver, then all drivers on the road now take 10 minutes so the overall delay does not seem to decrease, but the 10th driver now only has a 10 minute journey so now can drive and so has a higher quality of life.
@@jimmydesouza4375I don’t think people claim it doesn’t work, they claim it doesn’t work for long, because as you point out, adding lanes makes the road more attractive and encourages more people to use it, increasing the number of people using it, thus increasing the number of lanes needed for it to be attractive, etc. often what people advocate for is the availability of higher capacity alternative modes of transport, as eventually you get to a point where the number of lanes that would be needed to accommodate the potential drivers in an area becomes impractical (just ask Texas about the Katy Freeway)
@@nabagaca No people claim it doesn't work. Also encouraging people to use it being a negative means you concede you're purposefully oppressing people for the sake of some ridiculous ideology. Sticking everyone on filthy public transport (which conveniently is completely controlled by govt).
As for being impractical, everything is impractical, passenger rail is impossible to make money on so is a massive fiscal sink, busses are the same but to a lesser extent, walking and cycling limit mobility, etc. The idea that those alternate modes of transport are in any way better is conditioning.
Building a mile of railway line, for example, costs approximately 100 million dollars. Absolutely impossible "theoretical minimums" are still around 40m per mile.
Building a 6 lane highway costs around 5-10m per mile in rural areas and ~20m per mile in urban areas. For the same price as it takes to get a simple double track mile you can get 60 lanes of road, or 10 6 lane highways taking different routes to ease congestion that way.
But you and many others are taught that you need to stuff everyone in to trains so that your mobility is controlled.
@@jimmydesouza4375how have you discovered the key that everyone else has missed - they just didn’t add lanes hard enough! Freeways as wide as a city block clearly weren’t enough, how many do we need? 2? 3? 5?
@@kaitlyn__L Look up a guy called Yuri Bezmenov and he explains how more eloquently than I could. The primary issue however is dogmatism.
The Robert Moses Memorial Parkway Challenge ending exactly how it did for Robert Moses' city
What could possibly go wrong with a roundabout on the highway at about 100 MPH?
i made a city using only one way roads once. It was a lot more efficient than i thought it would be. There was next to zero traffic
I tried one way roads for neighborhood traffic. It worked out pretty well if you alternate the direction each street in the neighborhood moves.
I enjoy the way the wrotin for this episode seems to snake back and forth, slightly retreading the same statements two or three times before moving on. It feels very thematic and intentional, very Cormac McCarthy.
Missed the opportunity to name the only road “The” with the tag Road (Rd)
The Road.
Anybody else notice he mentioned going from a small village to a large village twice? :p
Love your vids!
".. the problem was solved forever. FOR NOW 👁👁"

Amazing editing on this one!
Another amazing episode. Love @bluefi 's editing style. 4:55 was hilarious.

That city name is just perfection lmao
I just recently found your videos but they're very pleasing to my brain, I quite enjoy them
This video had like a new pizazz, I like it. The ‘fixing it forever for now ‘part killed me
Hey amphibian I love your videos, been a fan for years, but I really miss your series of videos like what you did with Torsolo in kenshi. They had soul and I like the hilarious reflections you would give while making them. Do you think you’ll be making any more series like that or are those days done?
It's really funny that your 1 road is named Road Street, because I unironically live on Street Road
loved the unhinged editing 💯💯
Great video, perfect length. More content like this please!
I really love all the city skyline videos you have been doing. An idea: What if you tried some of these or other challenges but you cant old testament style destroy the city? What you place you have to make work?

This was Amazing, i even start to cry at the end.
Got to get that 10:06 time for that add rev.

8-lane roads. As a *driver,* that sounds like pure hell.
I love driving (on small country roads) but same.
I find it hilarious when people say “no we just didn’t add enough lanes”, given there’s places with 10 or more lanes in each direction.
@@kaitlyn__L "Car-focused" city design is driver hell, for so many reasons. And it'll get much worse with self-driving nonsense and the already-awful data privacy on modern cars getting even worse.
"15-minute walkable city" conspiracy nuts think they're intended to be "open-air prisons" where you can't go more than 15 minutes away from your home without permission.
Well, cars are going to become closed-air prisons if things don't change. Vehicles gaining autonomy = drivers losing autonomy.
I could ramble for paragraphs about crash safety, oversized vehicles, everything being an SUV, etc., but this is already unreadable.

Should have called the single road either 'The Road'/The Rd, or "That Way". Oh yes, that place you want is just up/down The Road. or Is just That Way.
American City Planners watching this video and shouting to each other "write this down! write this down!"
IDK if it's even possible to implement, but instead of roundabouts, could you make a left lane exit ramp that pulls a 180 degree spin and puts you right back onto the road in the opposite direction? That would probably make traffic flow a bit smoother. I imagine it does have a limit though, like roundabouts, before you get a traffic jam, but at least you don't have to sit around and wait for the next person to go around the roundabout.
I lost it when he mentioned how realistic it was while cars were climbing 90° inclines and teleporting lmfao
Road Street. Home. Least it was, before I f*cked everything up.
Idea for rimworld: start with a married couple (maybe poly group) and only expand the number of colonists through their offspring.
