This analysis is even more poignant when you know that the inspiration behind The Sims was Will Wright losing everything in a house fire.
Oh man, is _that_ why everything was so flammable!?
@@Ad_Infernoyep
Omg. You are right!
Fortunately for Will, his next wish to make a hit game series worked.
I remember the first times I played Sims 1. I made a character based on myself and did my best to follow my "daily life" in game as much as possible, but I kept having problems where my sim would keep breaking down and crying in despair for some reason.
Now that's realism
Reminds me of the episode of Malcom in the Middle where Malcom plays Not-The Sims. His Sim ends up overweight, depressed and eventually self unalived every time he recreates it.

Yeah that’s a tweet from like 5 years ago….
@walternelson2687 oh I loved that episode 😂
The Sims holds a special place in my heart with how many hours I dumped into it in the past. Watching all of the vids compiled into one neat movie marathon combined with your exquisite narration transports me back to a much simpler time. Thank you for the vids!
Thank you!
yeah same, the sims was one of the first games i actually played back as a child, when you finished homework and got together with some friends to watch what happens when you remove the ladder from the pool while theyre in.
Ah always a good day when we get a AA Sims upload (chefs kiss)
Sim 1 is painful for me. I remember getting it at launch, installing it on my windows 98 amd k series CPU with I think a voodoo card, and the game inevitably crashing somewhere between 10 and 60 minutes - being so heart broken and desperate to play this game.
@@ambiguousamphibian Are these videos you made before?
this channel is my "bed time, sleepy boy" playlist
Can confirm, aa before bed makes for a happy next day.
its been his kenshi marathon for me the past couple weeks but this is a nice change of pace 😌
Sameeeeee thought I was the only one. This video and other similar ones brings me peace of mind and heart . Best vids for bed time
I'm so glad I'm not the only one 😂
AA sleep gang!
A movie marathon. I'm so excited. Oh wait my stove caught on fire.
Oof had me there
I prayed to the genie for a comment. it was this or the end of the world. RNG wins again.
@@ambiguousamphibian Someone stole my toilet!
@@jansenart0 😂 Just Sims things - like selling a window to be able to afford pizza, just like real life!
“This was not a good job. This was a bad job, but I had to take it or I would starve to death.”
Yeah, been there.
;_;
We've all been there 😔
Please, never stop the Sims 1 series 🙏
We need more Sims 1 and 2!!!
need to save up his sims juice for sims 5
Finally, I can watch my favourite AA Sims 1 videos without having to click anything else. This is actually really helpful since I like to watch this while doing other things.
Is that you in your pfp? You’re gorgeous!
I was today years old when I realized why the giant death robot from SimCity 4 threw plates, he was the Sims 1 robot butler! A 20 year old childhood mystery has been solved.
'I'm too hungry to get married' is great.
me: "never seen this guy before but ill watch the video"
him: 30:37
me: "well he shouted out callmekevin i gotta subscribe"
That 'Zero Dollar Start' reminds me of something I used to do in the Ps2 version of Sims 2.
Make a scraggly character, build a 3x3, broken shack with naught but a moldy couch dragged in off the street, then run the money out buying dirt and gravel ground tiles.
He'd spend his days sitting on the couch, waiting for his entry level job and struggling to fill motives until he could finally, _finally_ afford music player or drag a urinal in from...somewhere. Eventually, the menial labor nets him enough to fix the shack's broken windows, buy a plank of wood to use as a door, and even afford a small table. As this was the Ps2 version, his food needs were usually met by eating the couch stuffing, so he was at least okay on that front.
He worked as a painter, so was later able to sneak paint supplies from work to paint the walls at least a little.
This is neat :)
Lol you could eat the couch stuffing? Lmao
@@SpecialInterestShow Either couch stuffing or a piece of bread. It was hard to tell. And probably of equal nutritional value.
The Sims 1 is just such a timeless game
Other than EA going George Lucas on it the second they realized the money they could make on DLC
@@ULTRAOutdoorsmanthey did that the second the series started doing well have you not see all the spin offs lmao
@@ULTRAOutdoorsman2 was good but it took things a different direction for sure - not a bad direction, just goofier.
3 was painfully tame, and we just dont talk about the dumpster fire that is 4.
I love that simlish is an actual language that few people have actual knowledge of. They keep that secret like a dragon with stock investments.
You could translate a bunch of words using the lyrics from the songs that have been translated into simlish
Technically it's not, actually. I've looked it up before. The singers just go off what sounds good. There's no consistency as far as I'm aware, besides simply Sul-sul and maybe a few others
The tale of Pushmeet the Conqueror will always be my favorite, though I will forever mourn the loss of Flap-a-boo to the military-industrial complex.
i havent slept since January 22, 2017. with this compilation i may finally rest
If you haven't slept for 7 years, there's something very wrong with that picture
I am hyperventilating with excitement
I will call an ambulance for you
Sorry - please don't sue
@@ambiguousamphibianbut how else are we going to launder you for money? Isn’t real life like the sims? Another Existential crisis added to the table.
@@ambiguousamphibian an ambigulance, if you will
It is amazing how much gameplay we lost from Sims 1 compared to 4.
fr TS1 shouldn't be more of a game than The Sims Pay 4 Basic Features
I have very vivid memories of buying The Sims 1 in early 2000. This was a time before it was convenient to read things like game reviews and previews. I loved the game SimTown (does anyone even remember that game?), saw a game called The Sims by the same developers at a Best Buy, and bought it on a whim.
I did all of my homework either during my lunch break or on the bus ride home so I could play The Sims until bedtime every day for weeks on end. Why is it so hard to make friends?!
Love all of your Sims videos, it's a total nostalgia trip for me!
There were so many sim games back then - simtown, simcity, sim theme park, etc etc
SimTown was great though I dont remember much about it.
Ah yes, the tale of Brian Ambiguous.
B. Ambiguous by post, Bambiguous by friends
God I love the music in this game so much. It's like a comforting wave of nostalgia every time it reverberates through my ear holes
Oh my days, i love what this guy does with his mouth. So well spoken and covered in secretions, thank you Mr. Frog
Real adventures with real people
I love this funky frog
Crazy to think i really have watched every Sims 1 video...
And now i can do it again in one easy to consume hour long video.
Thanks, Ambiguous Amphibian! :D
This is great, but definitely go watch the unedited version. In that version you get to listen to AA yell at Brian, which is its own special thing.
I love your videos on The OG Sims because they really play on the poetic nature of the game compared to the later games. Beyond Will Wright's basic life-sim was the commentary on consumerism that you sardonically capture in your challenges. Working your way up to buy newer, better, more expensive stuff to keep your Sims happy, leveling them up to reach arbitrary goals so they can make more money, preventing all the stuff you have from being robbed or breaking down, creepy stuff like clowns and genie lamps and ghosts; your videos really tackle the essence of what Sims 1 is all about, and I love it.
AA is genuinely one of the most clever narrators on CZcams.
Thank you for this gift
love love love your vids, you really put tons of work into the script to make it more than just a "lets play" info dump. that original all kids household was so chaotic lol very recommended watching
This is perfect for my upcoming ambiguous sleeping playlist!!
Ah! I just finished watching the six hour metamorphosis of Torsolo, watching the epic of a man become Everything in Every Direction from just about Nothing. Truly I cherish the opportunity to observe many such smaller stories about smaller people, may they also grow to encompass the entirety of the available screenspace in their time!
23:01 "But relying on the spurious generosity of occult daemons is laden with risk and uncertainty"
Such wisdom is not taught in schools
absolutely titilated at this new video - cant wait to view it
Oh thanks, how'd you know i like watching your videos to help me relax and go to sleep then put it into an hour long format so i can peacefully watch it all to sleep
IDK why but that "OMG SOMEONE'S COMING" got me laughing
Thank you for this. I can indulge in the nostalgia of playing this game as a child, while I simultaneously play The Sims 4 as an adult. The amount of hours I have spent manipulating and directing a bunch of pixels on my monitor screen. What a game.
I absolutely needed this compilation. Thank you!
Although I never played the Sims 1, I spent a fair amount of time on Sim City 4. The sound track choices you have made defiantly brought up a true feeling of nostalgia!
I just finished rewatching all your sims 1 content so this is really good to see now lol
I love these kinds of compilations! Excited to watch my favorites again
The Sims 1 is a blessing, just like this compilation. Thank you Ambiguous.
Really enjoyed watching this, I unironically quite enjoy listening to your philosophical ramblings.
hey man I appreciate your videos. I found your channel a couple days ago and theyre helpful keeping me distracted getting through some stuff
Always wanted a compilation of existential dread for my birthday, so this is great.
Thanks, AA.
Congrats on another excellent series, and bravo on usage of that killer Sims 1 soundtrack! Never change, AA ❤
I've found my new video to put on in the background to help me sleep.
Thank you inconspicuousinsect for the sweet dreams and inevitable night terrors.
The "Home Alone" 8 children survival challenge will forever live in my mind as the greatest video you've ever made. Your narration is perfect for the shenanigans that happen. The editing is perfect. The unattractive goat sound when you say "Cornbread" is perfect. Everything about it is peak humor to me.
I'm really liking these compilations!
Finally a video that isn't barely over 10 mins
Yesterday i randomly revisitied your channel to watch rando sims videos. Today, wow hella convenient for you to upload a compilation. Thanks!
Ah, that was relaxing. Like ASMR without the creepy factor.
I put on your Sims playlist to sleep so this is SO much better
is like a movie, and a good one, awesome work mate
My sisters and I spent so much time playing The Sims, and even more playing The Sims 2. It was so much fun creating the different neighborhood families and seeing how they'd interact and/or marry and/or kill each other. So many good times!
I’m loving these compilations
I really love your videos, you’re amazing as narrator bro :)
Dude, I love this channel! Who knew such an incredibly nondescript amphibian could have so much natural talent!? Thank you my green friend!
10 minutes!!! Saving to watch later, very much looking forward to watching this later tonight ❤
The video I didn't know I needed, but somehow now, can't live without 🙈
Watching these made me pull out my old laptop from high school and play the sims 1 again.
This is perfect, i just sat down
its crazy how they went from this to just not even bothering with a plot or meaningful objectives anymore
The objective is to pay EA about $1200 for all the expansion packs.
Congrats, you win!
-EA
I knew the new Rimworld DLC was gonna change things up. But I did not expect
This drastic of a change. Suffice it to say happy to see more content keep up the good work
Excellent video. I cackled all the way through. Love seeing people still playing the original sims.
thank you for doing this
Man Sims 1 was my first ever game, nostalgic af.
But damn those music are still such a banger
ROFL a compillation of the best things you've ever done. You go, Jebediah !
i hate you so much right now i literally just rewatched them all last night 😭
I think this is the funniest video on CZcams I’ve seen in a while
This video is masterpiece- I really want to see it on big screen 💙😂
This was one hour, thirteen minutes, and fourteen seconds well spent. 10/10 would spend again.
Finally a feature length video about the utter despair that is the Sims 1.
thank u bro, ur the sims 2 video came up on my home page and made me want to play the sims 4. just then i realized my account has been hacked recently. If not for you i wouldnt know and i contacted support today, so hopefully i get it back. thanks man
sweet can't wait to fall asleep to this (i mean this in the nicest way possible)
This is so nostalgic. My first time playing sims was Sims 2: House Party.
Finally, the Sims saga compendium we needed.
Greatest compilation EVER
Oh at about 1 minute in my brain hit me with that
ROSEBUD
Nostalgia like, POW!!
Please make more Sims 1 videos. The nostalgia hits deep.
The last one slightly made me depressed. It resonated with me especially with the "I cannot answer that because I am too hungry".
The Sims 1 was the first game I got on my first laptop. I didn’t have a dedicated GPU in it, which apparently meant the game couldn’t render the roofs. Which was tolerable.
There was a decent community online for it where you could download additional items and outfits.
EA made sure to kill those options in later versions.
I didn’t realize I needed the discs. I wonder if I still have mine.
You are too entertaining!!! ❤❤❤
You are the prime "Put me to sleep" voice on youtube. Not that your boring, quite the opposite. But your way of speaking is just sooo relaxing.
The unexpected ✨ N A P ✨that I just had less than halfway through this video. SUBSCRIBED✨
50:56 Man, that hit me with a tidal wave of nostalgia. So many hours spent making and selling those stupid gnomes because it was crazy money. You didn't even have to work anymore, just making gnomes nonstop...
Babe, pop that corn! Mr Ambiguous posted an hour long compilation!
14:13 eeeey love that ghost reference
Amazing now I can sleep peacefully
Funny, I was just watching all of your sims videos.
Weird how I was literally watching through the sims playlist just a few hours ago... Now I have to watch this to see if I missed something
Well worth the binge haha
YAY i am loving these
this fascinating series of challenge videos has made me realise that The Sims may be one of the best critiques of modern capitalism and American exceptionalism to have ever been created.
Some of those stories hit hard, cuz are so familiar and real...
Awesome stuff. I still have The Sims 1 full house stuffed away, might try and reinstall them all now…
woah that sim city vintage soundtrack
I think Will Wright would be proud with the project that began as a guy wetting himself on the floor would eventually bear such existential crises
God I love that Sim City ost bro
He wasn't happy enough to get a promotion in the military on his first day.
