I am in Scotland on a sailing trip, but as we are overnighting in a marina, I take myself down to Holy Loch Nature Reserve to have a go at photographing the coastal birds as well as have a stint in the hide, where there are loads of finches for me to photograph.

Great video Jo thanks for sharing
Thank you ☺️
Great video, thanks. Carrick castle is another interesting spot that you can sail well within a day and use their club moorings if you don't want to anchor 👌
Carrick is one of my favourite places! We use the visitor moorings there as well as anchor there 👍
Great video again Jo. Think that 600 will definitely make a massive difference to your photography when you can get it. Keep persevering. 👍
Glad you enjoyed watching 😁
I have photographed shore birds like this a few times and have tried to time it to when high tide is an hour after sunrise. I try to get into position in the dark and sit still and as it gets light the birds are getting pushed towards me. Keep up the good work. Phil
That's a good way of doing it! I shall have to remember for next time! 😂
Greetings from the USA. It’s very cool to see some similar species and some totally different ones too. I’m 2 years into my photography journey, and have to tell you it’s quite addictive, in the best way! We don’t have oyster catchers in my part of the US. I would love to get an opportunity to shoot them! It always freaks me out a little to see someone carry the camera without a strap! You might consider the black rapids cross body strap. I never let the camera bounce around, and usually walk holding the tripod foot. It’s just a layer of protection, I guess. For me, bird photography is a practice in patience…..which I was not born with! Good work and happy shooting!
I have the black rapid strap, but I can't get on with it if I have my bag on as well. With the 70-200 and 2x tc it still fits fine in the camera clip I use, and I find it easer to manage there than with a strap on. If/when I get the 200-600, I'll be using a strap with that one. I am finding that patient really is a virtue! hahaha
First of all, thanks for teaching me Saddle stitching via your great CZcams channel some years ago. And thanks for shearing your wildlife videos. As far as I can see, you are not using a pair of binoculars (apob)
As a birder and wildlife photographer I will strongly recommend apob. It's far more easy to find, identify and study birds through apob. The digital viewfinder in the cameras isn't yet that good compared to apob. I use a 8x32 binoculars attached to my own invented saddled stiched harness.
Glad I was able to help with your stitching! I do have an old pair of binos, but I am still figuring out where is best for everything to go on me when I am out and about 😂 I will definitely be taking them with me next time!
Great watch! It's hard to tell from only a few angles but your Great White Egret might be a leucistic Grey Heron, going by the slight colour difference on the top of its head. Would arguably be a rarer find if so too! Nice images whichever, love the framing
oooo that is interesting, I didn't think to search for a leucistic heron for comparison! I have now looked at it alongside a Grey Heron and a Great White Egret and I think that you are right! Thats bonkers! Glad you enjoyed watching the video and shared some valuable infomation! 😊
I also agree with the heron theory😊
Thank you for sharing the experience 😊
Thanks for watching 😊
