All your photos are well laid out and educational. Even though I have been photographing birds for years now here in south Texas, I always learn something new and I have incorporated them into my field photography and my editing process.
I have just gotten the new Canon R7 (previous and still owned cameras: 7D Mark 2, 5D Mark 4, and R5). I am presently shooting with the Sigma 150-600 and based on your recommendations, I am presently saving for the Canon 100-500 RF lens.

I loved this video. Wonderful images and you are a gifted story teller. What is so enjoyable is that it is a realistic "day in the life" presentation of any wildlife photographer. A bit of luck is helpful, but a measure of effort, patience and skill is absolutely required. It so reassuring to realize someone else is having game not show up and gear malfunctioning, all while sitting quietly in camo at daybreak needing to answer the call of nature.

Like your CZcamss. Live in South Central Texas. Similar climate, but no kangaroos. Am shooting birds using R6 with RF800f8, RF100-500 , RF 1.4 extender. Had similar issue with a card that had been used with the R6 and with a RP. Canon Pro-Rep recommended to never use cards between different Canon models without using this formatting procedure:. Format cards with your COMPUTER then format card with the CAMERA you plan to use. That should clean up your cards.

Hi Duade, great video, thank you, that eye detect focus looks amazing! I haven't read thru all comments, but I did have issues with Sandisk cards I bought from E.Bay. They were duds-showed error message occasionally, got them tested and the capacity and write speeds were a fraction of what was specified. Got a refund from E.bay after some back and forth messaging to the seller. You can do the check on your home p.c. Its possible that your card has low write speed an is buffering. Buy local from trusted source, even though likely to be 3 x price.

Great video, really enjoyed! I got my first camera a few weeks ago and im on a budget so I got the Nikon P1000. The image quality is acceptable but there isn't much room to crop with 16MP, but it makes up for it in zoom, it does make it hard having to frame then and there knowing your not going to crop, but its so much fun. Sometimes I havnt even taken a photo but just was in another world watching them close up!

As someone who shoots on an EOS RP, I'm so envious of the eye AF. It's so quick and nails the shots what looks to be 99% of the time. I'm thinking in another year or so when Canon has more options in their R lineup, I might make the switch. Great video as always.

Gabe, thanks for the comment. I didn't have a lot of light so ISO3200 worked best in this scenario as it still gave me adequate SS to avoid motion blur. The camera also has no issues shooting at 3200 whilst maintaining IQ. Cheers, Duade

The R6 rocks. When posted online or upscaled using photoshop for printing the photos look just good as compared to the R5 . The only disadvantage is when you heavily crop but still most of the time it is acceptable. The R5s (rumored 90 megapixel) and the R7 (rumored APS-C 32 megapixel) coming this year would be more suitable for wildlife but overall the R6 is still really good most of the time and I have no regrets buying it.

I love how you show your raw file and how you cropped and edited it. I have been on the fence with the R6 because of its 20mp. But seeing the amount of detail you maintain in your shots even after cropping 30% or more is making me think of picking one up. The R5 is super nice but I am not a paid photographer yet and I am not rich. So it’s more then i want to spend on a camera at the moment. But the r6 is that sweet spot. Great work!

I've had the R6 for 11 months and absolutely love it. I also have the M50 (24mp) for 2.5 years. Because the R6 has a full frame sensor and a higher quality sensor, the image is far superior to the M50. The R5 certainly is a great camera, but you need to be prepared to store and process the large files. They can bring a mid-range computer own to its knees, not to mention the graphics card.

Sitting here in cold Wisconsin January (2022), admiring Victoria wildlife. Maybe I will head to WI river soon for eagles, they love the free water below dam once all lakes are frozen. I have a canon 500 mm and 1.4 telex for my 7dmarkII, working on convincing myself to spend $2500 on an r6. Love Victoria and the rest of Australia I;'ve visitied (not enough), love the wildlife, even enjoy the accent mate! Have a cabin on a lake up north with Kingfishers, maybe I need to spend some time concentrating on them, they are cool beyond measure.

Thanks for the comment, yes it can get bloody hot down here as you know, sounds like you have a great kit and plenty of reach with the 7D. I would hold on the R6 until we know what is happening with the R7, if they do release an APSC RF mount mirrorless it could be perfect for your needs. Have fun with the eagles and kingfishers. Cheers, Duade

Great video! I admire your dedication. Those kind of temps are uncommon here but we do get high 90s with high humidity. When that happens I retreat to the indoors. I don't do well with heat. 7:30 am here and 35 f with snow expected. Not much but maybe enough to get a few nice shots at the feeders. Take care in that heat.

Again a very nice video, thanks for that. I use also Lexar cards, ( 64Mb 1667x V60 II professional) sometimes the camera locks up, but I do no think it is the cards. I have the camera now about 6 months and used it a lot, nearly every day. I think I did have about 5 lock ups in that time. I shoot mainly electronic high speed, and short bursts. Last months I use Fv and after some learning time I am used to it and like it, an advantage is that video is only two clicks away!
