Great show as always. I have a question for the next mail bag episode: would you say that the Orioles number one priority this offseason would be to re-sign Burnes to a long term contract? You think he would sign here if we matched an offer?
I believe that the Orioles should really add a mid to high value starting pitcher as well as a high leverage reliever. Although, I was happy to see Irvin and Suarez pitch well lately, I am not convinced that they will maintain that output. I also don’t think it is wise to hope that Bradish, Means and Wells will all be back to their peak form. At least one of them will probably underperform. With the Marlins off to a 6-19 start, they might be a good trade partner. I have scene mention that Jesus Luzardo might be available for the right price. That leads me to a multiple point question.
1. Is Luzardo worth the prospects the O’s would have to give up to acquire him? His stats this season have not been great, but that could be due to the team behind him as well. I haven’t looked at his peripherals.
2. Would Trevor Rogers or Ryan Weathers be a better target, if the O’s are going to expend that capital?
3. Would a package that included Norby and Stowers be enough without including Mayo?What if the O’s sweetened the pot with one of the back end starters like Irvin or selling high on Suarez? Maybe include Urias?
4. Perhaps Tanner Scott could be included in the return to kill two needs at once.
5. What do you think a good trade package would be?
Mailbag Question: when do you see the orioles parting ways with Urias and Mateo? As I see it, a good option would be to trade these guys for lower level prospects to restock the system. Then you would replace them on the roster with AAA players that are ready. Thoughts?
I'm a big Kremer fan, but I think Suarez gives Dean a run for his money for the final starting spot in the event all the injured pitchers recover at once.
Means has pitched like 6 games since the end of 2021. Nothing should be expected from him. If Suarez is able to keep things going once they get an updated scouting report and Bradish returns I'd think Means is much more likely to hit the BP than Kremer
Do you the Os going after another starting pitcher at deadline i think we need another good starter i dont trust wells irvin or even means
I think we do need some right handed hitters i dont like hays
O's must trade for another top Starter like Gilbert. Irvin belongs back in BP where he was successful.
