My concern with Kimbrel isn't the regular season as much as the postseason. There are ways to manage/maneuver him now to try to get him back on track. My concern is that if he does get on track and looks good, then all of a sudden he loses it in a playoff series and it costs us. I think for now he stays in the closer role, but as soon as the lugnuts on the wheels start to loosen, he will get pulled and Hyde will go matchup in that game.

Idk if I'd call this game "cursed." Maybe I'm a little crazy, but this is exactly the kind of wild, back-&-forth baseball I love to watch, especially in a Beltway Series. I'll probably be going back & watching the replay of this one for years. For now I'm just glad both teams get a day off today to recuperate.

McKenna needs to go, he made 2 crucial errors that cost a run on both sides of the field. We can’t pretend like it’s the rebuild again, we’re in the thick of it. Also Kimbrell, & he owes us all some new pants 👖 for the amount of times I’ve shared in mine watching him blow a save.

As much as I am very hesitant to DFA pitching, esp in today's MLB landscape, you cant have a pitcher that has so many reasons why you can't use him. No back to backs, no high leverage situations, pull him when he can't finish an inning, etc. I would much rather go after a RP and rely on Webb or Cano. I would love to see Wells be the CP once he returns at this rate.

As much as I am happy the Orioles traded for Burnes, I was sad to see DL Hall included. He was a guy that I thought could be a great option to close at some point. Overall, if it took him to get Burnes, still worth it but would be nice to have a healthy Hall as an option

I'm sorry, can't wait for Hays to return. McKenna, even for his couple of big hits, is tough to watch. He went over the bag on a slide for an out, took a bad route on a ball to right that went over his head (it would have been a tough catch, but at least he should give himself a chance) and even on a catch in right he didn't look comfortable. I like that he knows his role, but I just don't trust him in big moments.

A few weeks ago I thought Kimbrel was just going through a rough patch and would bounce back towards the mean. It's starting to look like his start to the season was the outlier, not the past few weeks. It's not all Kimbrel though, part of it is the Nats got hot at the end of the game.
Is there any chance we get Batista back this season if not we need to get a closer via trade for this years team kimbrel not him
Craigery Kimbrell is not reliable right now whatsoever. He should be a setup man and Jacob Webb should be the closer

I think Kimbrel needs a stint on the IL. Seems that back tightness is more than just back tightness and needs some rest. Cano/Columbe/Webb/Akin can handle the 9th. Sure they will prob blow a save or two, happens to even the best, but I have more faith in them to close out than Kimbrel right now. heck bring Tate back up to close.
We also have Wells coming back soon, and he as excelled in the role last year when Bautista went out.
My only question is why pull kimbrel for a lefty against Abrams when Abrams has been stronger against LHP than RHP?

Hyde says he's our closer because of his track record and because he's a hall of fame? That's concerning to me. That's faulty thinking. That does not make sense.
The 12 million dollar contract has nothing to do with it Brandon Hyde? If Kimbrel keeps blowing saves, eventually the Orioles will have to cut bait with him.When Wells comes back hopefully he can become the closer. This could become a major problem for this team. It's no guarantee that Bautista comes back next year and is the same dominant reliever he was. However I would take a 80% Bautista over Kimbrel right now.

Kimbrel is officially FINISHED as the closer of this team. Hyde should mix/match and close by committee like he did against Yanks last week until Elias gets another reliever/closer. He got 3 days of rest but still looked like crap, gave up a homer against Rosario who is hitting .150. Not only that it was off a high 4-seamer. Elias should make a deal with Marlins who are in a full tank mode and bring back Tanner Scott. Also NO MORE RYAN MCKENNA FOR SANTANDER SUBSTITUTION. Santander is a better RF than McKenna who keeps taking wrong routes. And he has a very weak arm, Tony would've thrown the runner out at home and ended the game in the 11th.
When Wells comes back he could be the closer. 12 million dollar contract is the reason Kimbrel is still being used as the closer. Please get rid of Ryan McKenna. Santander is a very underrated outfielder his arm is definitely better than McKenna.

@@joehawk9839 I'd make a deal right now for Tanner Scott but of the pitchers they have, I'd give Perez and Webb a shot at the job. But as things stand right now, I'd close games by committee, mix and match until I get the last out.
@@CamKrazy2000 Both Perez and Webb can be good or seem to struggle at times. I haven't followed Scott at all since his departure from Baltimore. I guess they have to play the cards there dealt with at this point in the season. I just feel that there going to let Kimbrel's contract and veteran future Hall of Fame closer stats determine his fate here in Baltimore.I hope they take a what have you done for me lately approach with him.Myself personally as a lifelong O's fan I couldn't trust Kimbrel in a close situation of game seven in the playoffs, let alone a world series game. For that reason alone he should be on a very short leash.

Ryan McKenna sucks and everybody knows it except our so called manager of the year. And I don’t care what Austin Hays is doing right now. Kyle Stowers deserves a shot period. He has been treated worse than Mike Yaztremski and will shine in another organization. Hyde plays favorites and it makes me sick.

He also had a MCL sprain last year and is only relieving because of durability concerns. I would be cautious of paying that price for him

i will ask this again. How much longer are we gonna deal with Mullins hitting at or below the Mendoza Line? He's late on every single pitch. He doesn't take walks. His OBP is only .264. That's atrocious. He's had 1 stolen base in the last 20 days. He had a 0.0 WAR last season. I understand his defensive value, but it's not like his arm is any good out there.
It's ok for defense if he's the only liability batting. Just bat him 9th. His defense value insane. He also does go on random hit streaks and can be clutch. Solid veteran and clubhouse guy AND baserunner and can bunt
