Solo Drills / Circuit Training for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & No-Gi Grappling UFC Gym - BJ Penn Team Hawaii - Honolulu | Waikele | Mililani Original Music by: Nate Pacleb
Yeah this gets to the stuff as quality worthy for best drill bag clip I've seen yet OR at least giving me good variety of slick bodily mechanics to know and work with... Thx
One year largest +... How'd it go? What issues came up that you didn't expect? What went easier than you thought? Are you still regularly doing the training? If you are still doing it, congrats on a worthwhile purchase! What will you do differently as a result of what you have learned?
Oh nooo... I hate to be "that guy" on the internet, but... I was watching the toreando pass -> knee switch -> back step -> side switch drill, because it looked so damn cool. After watching 1,000,000,000,000 times I had it broken down in my mind. I noticed that his side switches aren't symmetrical. You can notice that he leads with his right leg regardless of whether he is to the right or left of his opponent. Compare 1:28 vs 1:36... his hop to the other side always starts with extending his right leg up. Is there a "correct" way of doing it? Should you always lead with the outside leg, the inside leg, or your strong leg? Anyhow... I'm a horrible human being for nitpicking in youtube comments. I'm crawling back to my parents' basement now...
good observation. all I can say is what my instructor always said: "the correct way... is the way that works best for YOU". I would only tell you to play with both/all variations and which ever one has the highest percentage of success for you, then stick with that. Just like anything... For example, I've learned "arm bar from guard" probably 20 different ways from 20 different people... not to say that one way is more/less incorrect than the other. (yea?)
That subtleness of your movement is impressive, congratulations
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, that's a very good point. I would rather have good asymmetrical technique than bad symmetrical technique.

You're overthinking it bro.
