No no... Poompuhar is the old capital of cholas. After a tsunami attack a part of Poompuhar was sank under the ocean... After sank uraiyur (maiden name sevalur) was selected as the new capital.
The name sevalur comes after a story "the cock in the village oppose the king and his elephant". So the king impressed by the act so that the he selected the sevalur as the capital. Later the name changed into uraiyur.

I mean it's amazing how they managed to survive for so long, but there were periods and interregnums where the Tamil kingdoms were conquered.

      1. Early Cholas - 300s BCE - 300 CE
      2. Interregnum - 300s CE - 848 CE (All of the Tamil lands and kingdoms conquered by the Kalabhras, Buddhist warrior tribes)
      3. Imperial Cholas - 848 CE - 1070 CE (Cholas at the peak of their power)
      4. Later Cholas - 1070 CE - 1279 CE (Defeated by the Pandya Kingdom and territories lost to them, end of the Chola dynasty)
      Pandyas ( 500s BCE - 1334 CE)
      1. Early Pandyas - 500s BCE - 300s CE
      2. Interregnum - 300s BCE - 590 CE (Kalabhras again)
      3. Pandya revival - 590 CE - 985 CE
      4. Interregnum - 985 CE - 1216 CE (conquered by the Cholas)
      5. Second Pandya revival - 1216 CE - 1310 CE
      6. Pandyan civil war and collapse - 1310 CE - 1334 CE (Vira Pandya and Sundara Pandya fight a civil war over the throne, this weakens the dynasty and the state begins to fragment, with various vassals and feudatories declaring independence, the final blow is struck by raids and invasions carried out by the Delhi Sultanate, whatever remained of the Pandyas was conquered by the Vijayangara empire.)

Cheran was from Agni (Fire) clan, Cholan was from Surya ( Sun ) clan, Pandyan was from Chandra ( Moon ) clan... Their ancestors were Sandrors called Nadars... The real royal heirs... These Nadars were very powerful.. but backstabbed By another race... even today this race exists in Tamil Nadu. Former President of India Kamaraja Nadar is one of them. ... Shiv Nadar, the current owner of HCL, belongs to the same royal family as ...
And the Kings proofs are there in inscriptions, their book of copper plate and Sangha literature written by our forefathers which are the books of tamils...
If you hear the biographies of our Tamil kings, even a small child will pick up a sword and fight... Our Tamil Nadu is the birthplace of victory... The reason for the destruction of our kings is because of our traitors. ... Many traitors were created under their rule. Little by little they separated... Even today some people pretend to be Moovenders.

"1.49" the harbour is not "koti " it's actual historical name is "korkai" "கொற்கை"...... our land is Tamizhagam not tamilacam.. "தமிழகம்" not தமிலகம் ...listen we have 247 alphabets in our language so u should be very careful while pronouncing it but I appreciate u r interest in making videos on our history but ..our history is our pride we will ask questions if anything goes wrong and suggest to correct it .

@@ChandraSekar-fg5gn Once again, they're anglicised names for an English speaking audience. In English the land is called "Tamilakam" or "Tamilacam". That's how transliteration works. According to sources the region is called "Tamilakam" in Tamil too, so I'm not sure what the issue is there.
As for "Koti" this may be an error. I'll raise it with the scriptwriter. The sources I see state Korkai / Kurkai, there must have been a slip unless some old source refered to it as Koti for some reason. Thanks.

@@ChandraSekar-fg5gn Okay bud. The accepted English name for the region is Tamilakam, nothing more to say. If this video was in Tamil, it'd be different yes. But likewise we wouldn't come on a Tamil language video about Britain and complain how they write and pronounce it "Pirittan" and not "Britain", because... Translation exists! Place names change between languages.
