@@Brightdoormortgage-realestate just for clarity, he’s not a real estate lawyer. He has fought cases on food freedom (Amos Miller, Amish farmer against state of Pennsylvania), some well known cases where teens were wrongly accused of something or defamed for political purposes, employees of Tyson Foods who were denied medical freedom and pay, etc. He just fights for people who are being egregiously wronged and having their constitutional rights violated by corporations, government, courts, etc. This Pigeon Forge case is so egregious, and it’s right in his home state, so I figured this would be something he’d be interested in fighting and bold enough to win.

My husband and I were toying with the idea of finding investment property in Pigeon Forge. We have spent lots of money and time there, but now we are discussing never setting foot there again. Not with our dollars. We have rented property there to stay, but no more of that either. Unfortunately when people see/hear of the dirty deeds the City is doing, they will stop too. Maybe existing residents and residents whom have rentals will not stand for this. It will affect them eventually.

I know how this feels and I really hate the law that allows this.

I have gone through this before .
Keeping your sanity and moving on gives you best mental state to keep your family ok .
You can have the lawsuit but it's going to take a miracle to have the money you want .

Y’all are not alone!! I’m a disabled Desert Storm Vet and I owned my property for 8 years and never missed a payment or was late on a payment yet I had it stolen from me and was illegally evicted from my home just over one year ago now in NC. I lost over $200k in equity. I was having extreme medical issues at the time and did not have the strength or will to fight at the time and I have lived this past year in an old bus with no heat or a/c, no running water, etc., and I just had another surgery March 14th which made my 16th surgery now.
Folks don’t understand how quickly & easily your home can be ripped from within your grasp. I had 21 acres and a small home and it was ripped away along with my financial freedom overnight!! Hang in there folks!! I’ll be praying for you and your family!! And your right, this does change you and makes you a completely different person and I don’t even know who I am right now

He also built a house off Cole St. In Pigeon Forge and ran his driveway straight through my grandparents land without hesitation and never said a word to them. Literally directly up the middle of the land to build his house. My grandparents took him to court and since he is who he is the courts kept putting it off for over I'm guessing 15 years or more until my grandparents both passed away. Now my aunt has the property and there still fighting. So seen him first hand take away what someone else has owned. You guys will be in my prayers. Really hope everything works out for yall. This violates the taking clause of the US Constitution. You should file a Federal Suit against the city and get this out of State run courts.
I remind you of my previous remarks, “there is no justice in the courtroom”. Take that however you like, as for me and mine we will be dead and gone before anyone successfully takes our property, even our local sheriff is afraid to come onto my property without an invitation by me personally. I just have those kind of skills and the equipment to use them.
As for the city of Pigeon Forge, I will NEVER spend another dime there (sorry Rev Jack, see you at The Preserve when we hit 25 years!). Clearly the city has yet to learn from their grandiose mistakes. Each of us is afforded due process, to deny it in favor of politics is well, to put it plainly, a very costly mistake.

I am so sorry that Pigeon Forge just takes a home from a family who bought and paid for it. We were constant visitors and vacationers to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This has totally changed my mind about visiting a place that can do this to people who has put a lot of time and money into a property. I believe there is more the city, the realtor and others did not tell you before buying the property. Who is the person or people that is putting in the camp ground? Did they know first hand about the road and were they part of the decision making? There are to many unanswered questions that need to be answered. I think there is some underhanded things going on that the government officials are not telling you. I don’t want to go back to Pigeon Forge and support that area if this is the way they treat people who buy property there. I pray everything will change for the better. They should at least pay you what you bought the property for and all the updated and remodeling you did for Seven months. This is stealing. The people who sold the property to you had to know about the road before selling it. There is corruption in local governments too. This could possibly go up to the Tennessee Governors office. These are questions that should have been answered

I know there are still many good families, and this isn't a knock. It's just not the same Sevierville anymore 😕. Praying for ya'll!

Most people have never even heard of her, but her cooking was sought after by big writers n travelers. It wasn't main Street cooking. It was down home cooking in the country. I don't even think there are any real mom n pop style grills/restaurants in the area anymore. I'm very nostalgic, and I think progress is to digress.

My husband and I drove through Pigeon Forge a couple years ago. Before that, it had been about 15 years since we were there. I was shocked at how much it had turned into a big carnival like tourist trap. It was big enough the last time. I go to the mountains for nature. I knew on that day it wasn't a place I wanted to visit anymore. Hearing this news from a local family solidifies my resolve not to go back. I'm sorry you're going through this, and hope it somehow gets resolved in your favor.

Always follow the money, when there are moves being made that just don't make any sense, you have to dive deeper.
The city I live in just renewed our trash service contract. There was absolutely no issues with our old system and the way things were done. It was simple, flawless and inexpensive. Now, its much more complex and complicated and hidden fees everywhere you look. All over trash pick up. Everyone is complaining about it at its core, which they should. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Why complicate a relatively simple system thats been working. But, for me, I'm like, "Hey, there is a bigger problem at play. For some within the council to actually think this makes sense, seems someone must have their hands in the cookie jar too."
I've been following yalls story and man its heartbreaking at the corruption. My way of thinking is this, going to lay out an odd scenario but listen, if there was a horrid crime that took place in Pigeon Forge and it received allllll kinds of publicity, they would push for the trial to be tried out of town, that way there is no conflict of interest or preconceived ideology when going to trial. Why is this much different? If the Mayor owns any property in or around a proposed project, how is he legally able, to be remotely close to anything having to do with said project being voted on and pushed through?
Yall should really reach out to all the event coordinators and whatnot. Pigeon Forge has always been a 'go-to' for conventions, car shows, etc. If yall can team up with those folks and they have their events elsewhere, that should get the ball rolling faster and in your favor. Hit them in their pockets just like they hit you in yours.

Just because you believe that your house is worth more than it is and you’re not gonna take their offer does not mean they did not try to compensate you by law they have to, and they know it ! If you turn that off or down, that’s your problem if you don’t believe it’s worth as much as you think it is that’s your problem not there. They have to offer you by law and amount that is fair market value or what they see as fair market value .., you act like you have not been compensated one dime maybe you haven’t yet maybe you will did they offer you something they offered you anything did you say no?

Contact the Institute for Justice about this! From the IJ website In Tennessee, eminent domain gives the government the power to take your property, even if you don’t want to sell. But under the Fifth Amendment, eminent domain must be for a “public use,” which traditionally meant projects like roads or bridges. Meanwhile, the government must pay the owners “just compensation” for their property.

In the end, a court will rule on it according to valuations presented by both sides. The court, however, will not award one thin dime for punitive damages like emotional distress or hardship. I can't speak to whats going on with other americans but I can speak to myself.
You get to an age and a point in your life to where you will NOT comply, and principal becomes more important than yourself and anything you have.
This is where the founders of this country were, where Liberty was more important than your "things" and your own life. And until people are at that stage in masse, this country will remain in bondage to tyrants.
It only stops when you literally pick up something and fight tyrants for your very lives.
Ive been on "the list" for over 16 years and had my rights taken almost 40 years ago.
The truth is, we do NOT live in a free country, we are all one interaction with police away from being less than human for life, and your countrymen do not care about anyone but themselves. Unless this country unites and fights back then my suggestion is to flee the nation and any other developed nation is the same so flee to someplace nobody wants and start over.

If they offered below the value of the house I would be irate too. If they offered a fair value and the argument is over theoretical rental income over multiple decades, I wouldn't think it would be worth letting the offer go on.

@@kmparker17 I'm hoping the family will comment on it. In local groups, I've seen several say the city offered them 150-200k above what they paid for it. Hopefully they can clarify.

Lake county Illinois takes your home slowly but surely. Property taxes are raised every freakin' year. Currently we pay 800.00 a month on a small 50X150 foot lot.!!! How they can tax my house on the lot using a made up Appraisal value and they do not own my house. They tax people on personal dwelling value, how is that even legal or constitutional??

I'm so sorry you lost your home. But know that God promises what the locusts have eaten, He will restore 100 fold. Trust me--this has happened to me several times and I always end up with more than I had before. Let God deal with these thieves.

I would love to know Dolly’s feelings about this. I’ve been a fan of hers forever but my opinion would definitely be changed if I knew she does not support you guys. This obviously is a totally corrupt and unjust situation. My best wishes to you.

Pigeon Forge will never lose any money over this situation. It will be politics as usual. End of story. I wish the family the best.

In these circumstances, the government should have to pay fair market value (and right now land is selling for more than ask in East Tennessee) as well as the value of property taxes paid throughout the entire time the current owner has paid them (even if they are paying mortgage and escrowing the taxes and insurance.

The mayor and the city, is trumped by the state government, the governor. I wonder if you talked to your senetor, or the governor, if they couldnt at least help you or point you in the right direction?. It isnt the same situation, but we were having issues with the VA. My husband is a veteran. The VA took 9 years to hear his claim and the run around was rediculous. But we got some advice from a local lawyer and it turned things around for us. He told us to contact our senetor so we did. Now my husband has his 100% disability and it only took 5 more weeks. It might be worth a shot for you to call your senetor? Much love. I hope you get the result you deserve and your house back or at least payment for the mony it took to build it. God bless. ❤
