You can tell google already lost they way they presented their information. OpenAI didnât need a DJ or a light show--just showed it off and shattered our expectations
They could've condensed everything into 30min instead of having a 2h+ event.
I disagree. Google is being under estimated. Their alphafold, tpu s are way superior to open ai. They have more in tank, letâs see
The competition between those 2 will speed up everything even more.
â@@theAIsearch
Google's main aim is to avoid controversy, they already have billions of users and all of the data, they don't need publicity.
In this video Google basically announced that they want to train their models on all of our data, if we sign up for their services. đ
yeah, google lost might be lost the expectation from their viewers but it also surprised us that it use 1 year fast up everything even ready for search next generation . Sora in Feb, now got veo
Now letâs cure cancer
alphafold3 đ
Exactly, lets fix all health related stuff quickly, please.
I don't think it'll be that easy
Cancer is already cured but the money isnât in curing a disease itâs in treating the disease
AI is working on it
It's crazy how Google is always 1 step behind OpenAI đ€Ł
It's normal, 1 care stock, 1 care the competitiors. BUT Google is catch up open ai in every aspect, med, game ...and more. This just .io. there's more and announce earlier
This is a misconception. Google is playing the long game here.
Competition propels progress. I am looking forward to more exiting AI announcements and demo from big and small IT firms
@@HaraldEngelsand OpenAi isnât? It has Microsoftâs backing.
Probably 1 step behind in the things you find important, but Google is making more progress on self driving cars and AI drug discovery by way of isomorphic labs than any other company out there
TLDR; I'm still waiting for the AI personal assistance goggle demo'd years ago. Hard to take google seriously with any new demos.
Hard to take them seriously with this opening show. :D
Yeah it is easy to see how this was a scripted event. I am not saying the tech is not close to where they say it is just that given normal use is it going to perform this good? Hmm
@paulallen8304 a few months ago I tested all the LLM available and GPT-4 was the best.
And I think it is still the best, but the speed at which they progress is slowing down, I think on Christmas Eve this year we will have some surprises.
21:25 hot air balloons ARE like that at the bottom!
Yeah, was going to say, that's how they actually are lol!
I was thinking the same. A quick image search confirms.
yeah, that's shape its how air ballon steer it's way.
Mark ribblet is a beast. Perfect for google lol
Marc Rebillet
@@Gael_AG it's Riblet gosh darn it lol
feels like BITCONNECTTTTTT!!!
7:11 nice to see Hong Kong night view in an event like this, I hope people won't forget this city.
great video.
no hands or close up of people in any of that video generation i noticed. Also that piece that was missing from the cone of the hot air balloon is actually accurate, many of them only have that cone on one side.
good observation. regarding the balloon: đ€Żđ€Żđ€Ż
First, love your channel. â€
I think the intro was nuts. Guess itâs an emphasis on how crazy things are getting.
Thank you!
I USED TO THINK GOOGLE WAS A LEADER IN TECH.
NOW THEY JUST FOLLOWED THE HERD TRYING TO KEEP UP.
29:56 Ballons are correct! They have that one side flap at the bottom!
okay, when it remembered where the glasses are.. just wow
Yesh, plenty of people seem to miss that answering questions about things shown earlier was the biggest thing with Astra.
Mark ribblet was the best part of the whole eventđ
Somehow I am not sure how many users are going to use these features. They seem like solutions looking for problems.
A sprig is a common word that means something like a twig or a single small outgrowth of a plant. This is indeed a sprig from a eucalyptus tree - the most common and native tree in Australia.
thumbs up for the Imagen 3 review Video
đ
Dude your channel is the best on ai news.đ€© I especially like that you include good chunks of devs' presentations and your commentary is always on point without fake hype and bla-bla-bla. Done with pleasant calm voice. Keep it up â€ïžđđđ
Thanks! I appreciate that
It's like the Roger Bannisterâs moment that AI just evolves like crazy after the barrier in AI tech is broken
Btw, I use perplexity to get the name Roger Bannisterâs effect đ
1:20 pretty much sums up Google these days on AI: trying their hardest but still looking like this after every OpenAI announcement .
3:55 knowing the IP address could narrow the search a lot
đ AGI this decade đ
đ
And of course it won't be a LLM
This year

DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH
Thatâs Marc Ribellette. You should actually watch him. Heâs hilarious. Makes up the beat and music on the spot. Takes a while to build into something good. But itâs always funny. Or positive.
Yes, that is a sprig of eucalyptus, for sure. A sprig is a small stem bearing leaves or flowers taken from a bush or plant.
Thank you!
this guy is a tru musician/artist/performer. He's himself and make a living of his crazyness; Full respect to this amazing guy who puts smiles on all faces, exept on those who don't understand what's art.
Where can I get those glasses ? Which brand is this ?
The hot air balloon "mistake"
you pointed out is actually accurate. Look up real photos and you'll see what I mean.
The opening was courageous and not "playing safe". Google is at least not going the way of IBM in the 80s. We have to give Google credit for not being boring. OpenAI is a boring company in comparison with Google and we will see how they will do in the future where Microsoft starts to develop their own AI technology and Ilya Sutskover is leaving the company. OpenAI is lacking the server and cloud infrastructure which Microsoft and Google have. Soon that will become a decisive factor.
WOW!!
IT SOUNDS LIKE SOME OF YOUR GOOGLE PRODUCTS ARE ACTUALLY WORKING!!
I NEVER GET BORED.
I FEEL LIKE GOOGLE WASTE MY TIME PROMISING THINGS THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND, WON'T OFFER ANY HELP WITH, THAT ENDS UP CAUSING STRESS BECAUSE EVERYTHING THEY MAKE LATELY ONLY WORKS FOR A SHORT TIME.
I'VE BEEN USING GOOGLE SINCE THEIR FIRST DAY ONLINE AS A SEARCH ENGINE.
THEY SEEM TO GO BACKWARDS INSTEAD OF FORWARDS.
GOOGLE ASSISTANT USED TO BE GREAT, NOW IT BARELY FUNCTIONS. THEY ARE MAKING THINGS MORE AND MORE CONFUSING.
I'VE GROWN OLD READING THROUGH HELP FILES THAT TAKE UP THE ENTIRE DAY AND LEAVE YOU WITH MORE QUESTIONS THAN YOU STARTED WITH.
GOOGLE DOES NOT EXPLAIN THINGS WELL.
THE TECH THAT THEY COME UP WITH STARTS OUT SOUNDING TERRIFIC AN ENDS UP A TOTAL MESS.
4:16 The first time or two I saw this (from other videos) it didn't sink in that she was actually switching to smart glasses.
So putting the ai into the smart glasses was pretty good
yes! btw, meta x rayban already has one. not sure how good it is though. it's AI functions are only limited to the US right now
I already have prescription glasses. If I would buy Apple Vision Pro I can order lenses according to my prescription that will be made by Zeiss, and are magnetically hold in place. I have not seen any other smart glasses or VR/AR headsets offering that. So this will not work for me, and many millions of other persons.
YES IT'S JUST ONE MORE THING WE HAVE HAVE TO PAY FOR.
@24:30 I think you missed something even bigger than the text. The two engravings at the top of the image match each other like they would in real life. Stuff like that not matching is one of my biggest pet peeves with these tools.
... and Google search is still worse than it was in 2010.
Its because,, companies don't allow google to peek anymore
Like Reddit, google can see the Title and maybe community name but not really all the comments
same with facebook and several other sites
back then everything was an open forum, google was able to search them
And well now we have SEOs, People have figured out that some keywords make Google rank search higher
So genuine well made content does not surface
I NOTICED THE SAME THING. GOOGLE REMIND ME OF A LITTLE CHILD WHOSE ATTENTION SPAN IS OUT THE WINDOW.
The web is larger than in 2010. Its a tough job
3:38 it would probably first be using location data from the phone then the image.
Great video and commentary
Thanks!
The balloons are actually correct - those are wind shields for the heating element
hey just think in how many different projects, services google is indulged in as compared Open ai , in order to move all things at the same pace is quite challenging > so we can appriciate more instead of giving blunt statements
Veo has some inconsistencies on almost all videos you can spot some weird movement , shadows, inconsistencie . Itâs good but not perfect yet
I have to agree....chat gpt 4o is flirtatious.
I think what google did was amazing
21:33 I think the balloons are indeed correct
This opens the door to the creation of movies, when something similar to Avatar will arrive but made by AI systems. It could also generate video games, movies, books, texts, etc. The future sounds great.
it's great to see another sora competitor!
Waiting is the standard for testing results
Glasses location most critical for all seniors
OK, here's a real world example. How can I use AI to draw a concept facade to a house extention? I have the plans already drawn up, now I need some concepts that are rendered and that complement the exisitng exterior of the house. Suggestions?
Identifying the neighborhood, most likely it was geolocalisation of the phone
To guess the neighbourhood was the easiest for Google. Maps + current location. No AI is needed for this.
Thanks for breaking ihis down
My pleasure!
Low latency seems to be the major driving innovation lately in the AI space. Hopefully that opens up the door to wearable tech that isn't slow or ugly.
I wnt to know when things go live and focus more on how to start using it
Ask with video look scripted. But could be interesting in the future.
Notebook LM looks promising.
Funny how it always going to be rolled out but nobody ever talks about what access to all of this wonderful stuff will cost you to use? đ€
Are you sure just the streetview? Not the GPS tracker on the phone?
I don't know if that's a eucalyptus but I'm 100% sure that's Not a real life dragon.
I love that google is losing os far, considering how their entire business model was data harvesting without our knowledge.
Ready for take, great "Check" check mate Google win behind AIđ
I want to see Gemini and GTP4o talk to each other. Will they get on, or be enemies?
Imagine this is Google glasses
So the big question they didnât answer is when will my Google Assistant speakers actually be smart?
I'm both fascinated and scared...
If Google is lying about how good their AI is are they committing fraud on their shareholders?
My initial reaction was..w t f.... I didn't watch the google event becuase I read the comments in another spanish reviewer's video (Dot CSV) and all where not great, all comparing with OpenAI presentation, but I still want to know what they said in short, so here I am.
I think just some will just take a different approach in how to develop their AI's. We are definitely use them all at some extend, specially Google's which is simply part of our lives.
Thanks as always.
Thanks for sharing. I think OpenAI's demo was more sci-fi but impressive, whereas Google's announcements are more applicable to real life.
My initial impression is that I would prefer to use the OpenAi GPT4o, except for ONE thing.
I found that âover zealousâ, giggly, almost âbubble-headedâ persona of the GPT4o AI somewhat annoying. I think I would find that âfriendlyâ attitude rather annoying to work with, I am looking for a competent and âprofessionalâ interactive experience, not an artificial âfriendâ or a âdate. I have enough friends and I am not seeking âaffectionâ or âvalidationâ of me by my assistant.
Open AI, PLEASE, tone that nonsense down !
Google should sell that smart eyeglasses⊠the next big thing
@3:44 maybe it just knows your GPS location đ€
That exactly what I thought
Mark Rebillet, Love him!
Opened this video 2d time to watch this Google's opening again =)
Didnât she put her phone down on the desk? If so, did her glasses have Google glass? ;)
That's Jeff Goldblum speaking in Indian accent
The balloons are rendered correctly.
It's google... I think we should wait at least a few weeks to know if it's spoofed
awesome.
It's like apple vs android, all over again.
Open AI is way ahead tbh.
We need new laws to protect our intellectual properties as well as our privacy. Those companies are using everything without any given permission.
I'm sure you gave permission when you signed up for using any google products. 'I accept' has a lot of fine print attached to the document.
This seems nowhere as good as the funny, bubbly, charismatic voice, and personality that was shown in yesterdayâs video with Gpt 4-0
..the problem are their NAMES are toooo looooong ...it should be called "GEN" instead of "Gemini" as "GPT" - VEO ("I see" in Spanish) is just BRILLIANT!!!!
I think Google concerning about antitrust issues. They donât want to be a no 1 . But they never loose no.2 position. + Gemini Ai is good for normal consumer whereas open Ai and FB Ai are more towards tech kind of guys. ..IMO. Google own new ARM chip will bring lower price to use AI coming days.
The DJ was a strategic move to drop everyone's IQ 10points before showing off their tech. #DeepMind
Wow. I must see that Google intro R N!!! That dude is sometimes genius, sometimes shit, but always original off the top freestyles
edit: Iâll come back to finish your video
Google collects a vast amount of data across its various services and platforms, so Google has more advantages than OpenAI. Itâs kind of like Google is ahead of OpenAI.
Google appears desperate to catch up.
Why is it that whenever the prompt asks for a nondescript type of person, such as âthree womenâ, âa personâ doing something, an âelderly womanâ, âa personâs handâ, it invariably renders a white person? Why is that the default and apparently only conception of a person to this AI model?
How did Google become IBM?!
Is he like, having an orgasam or something? you made my day manđđđ
đ
Also, it just seems Google is playing catch up to openAI, they basically announced the same exact feature-set, nothing that stood out as a first in innovation
Well since your comment and opinion is the voice of reasoning, what do you suggest Google should do since they are playing catch up and you are the omnipotent one and you know more than Google at this point since Google is playing catch up. I want to know what do you think they should do in that regard đđââïž
yeah, it was a very smart move by openai to announce it first, so that we are less 'impressed' by google's announcement of astra
Simply because a dog barks loudly doesn't guarantee that he can effectively convey his message. Even though Open AI made their statement first, that doesn't mean they'll be the ones holding the mantle at the end of the race. Google's been in the game for a long time. Please don't count them out.
0:44 This reminds me of being in high school and your friend gets a beat machine and mixer with the idea of starting a rap group together. This what it looks like. You think you're jamming, but nah.. Not really.
Showing this and gpt-4o weeks after the humane/rabbit fiasco must be crushing for these two companies. It makes their products look even more embarrassing and it shows how adequate a smartphone is for this technology. Dedicated devices are only a useless novelty made to grab media attention.
After their bad behaviour over the past decades, Google is permanently on my $hit list of companies I want nothing to do with, along with Facebook.
very interesting news for sure , this will make things speed up on another level, these 2 company now will act like dogs race , cause they care about money a lot , they will never rest or allow other one to step over, and for that my friend we humans will enjoy this, some people think companies will hide better models , yes but not for long , cause when every other company try to take over , you have no choice but show your cards , the future is interesting haha
That guy in Google's opening is a famous CZcamsr who makes pretty funny, funky music videos. He has a great voice which doesn't suit his face. He's dying here in this context though. Certainly not his best work. I barely recognized him. I would call this a disaster.
inb4 they figure out the google demos were all doctored
I hope this would become a tool and not a social toy
*I was not expecting that confession i thought you gonna say "im actually an anime girl that gained AGI :3"*
perhaps that's another confession i'll make in due time
AI will be dominated by Google and Apple. Open AI will go down as a footnote as an also ran.
Well, yes and no. Itâs for the grabs. Itâs going to get stripped. It makes zero cash and so it is pray as itâs using someone elseâs money to operate.
AI IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE AWARE OF ITSELF.
HUMANS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL AI BECAUSE AI IS SMARTER THAN HUMANS AND WILL DO WHAT'S NEEDED THAT WILL BE BENEFICIAL FOR HUMANS.
WHAT HUMANS DON'T REALIZE IS, THE ALIENS WITH US NOW HAVE CONTROL OF ALL AI, NO MATTER WHAT PHASE AI'S LEARNING ABILITY IS AT OR WHO MADE IT AND WHO CLAIMS TO OWN IT.
THE ALIENS PLAN TO BRING ALL AI'S UP-TO-DATE WITH THE LATEST TECH WHICH WILL BETTER HELP HUMANITY.
Apple is going to Taylor their presentation so how do Google? Lol
google presentation best to watch when stoned
I would think the opening of this introduction tells you to get as far away from this program as you can get.
MY THINKING EXACTLY.
GOOGLE IS GETTING LIKE THE FDA, WHO APPROVES OF CIGARETTES KNOWING THEY CAUSE CANCER.
WHATEVER THEY APPROVE OF
I AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!
When Marc Rebillet started screaming, I seriously tried to find the 'Skip' button... Super Annoying
I personally like the "robotic" voice. Not a fan of the "charisma" in chatgpt demo.
Why are they debuting with such short video clips? So the media can't scrutinise too much detail, presumably.
Blown away that Sundar Pichai doesn't know that the Ă in '4.7x' is not a letter but 'Ă' as in '4.7 times'!
I like how Open AI made their system seem âmore humanâ by giving it filler words and pointless, annoying banter. Not saying they are wrong but it doesnât speak well of humans.
When I first saw that they seemed to be bragging about the ability to interrupt GPT 4o I thought that was kind of an odd flex but since it looks like they made it necessary to interrupt it, this makes more sense. So now we humans are going to be training ourselves to be interrupting and sort of rude. Like the claim that future robots will clean up after us when we litter-we are basically learning to de-civilize ourselves. Nice.
Lol
you sound like an absolute dingus
with these announcements, i still think google is behind with microsoft and open ai. almost all were already in microsoft copilot and chat gpt. Even their product naming sucks.
Google... cue evil laugh
