    Great review. The Lowden tribe are amazing humans. I picked up an W02 at NAMM last month for our church to use as a travel guitar to go with teams heading out on outreach trips. It will be on our hiking tour of Israel in 3 weeks time. It was incredibly surprising volume unplugged thanks in part to the slight concave ... or is it convex back. The LR Baggs system is more than adequate. They chose the electronics well.
    Waiting on delivery of an S03 for personal performance and studio work. Played that one at NAMM as well and was wooed by its smooooth voice. A work of art as well. Love the lower bout bevel as well.

    Cool runnings guys, but the mic was so soft on the smaller sized guitars that this comparison didn't let us hear the contrast like it should have. I'd love to see you guys correct this and let us hear strum vs strum and fingerstyle comparisons as well but both with equal mic volume.

    Very big difference here. I love wee models from George but these sound sound extremely thin. The S models in this demo sound surprisingly nice and full. This is an easy decision if you are torn on which size to choose!

    • @thefellowshipofacoustics
      @thefellowshipofacoustics  Před 4 lety +1

      I can agree with you John! Keep in mind the big price difference between a Lowden and a Sheeran, these Wee models are laminated which makes them quite boxy on their own.

    Regarding the nut width - 43.5 mm is not 1 3/4" - it is just under 1 23/32". My Lowden S32 is spec'd as having a 1 3/4" nut and is 44.5 mm - the W01 I've just received is similarly spec'd as having 1 3/4" nut width and it is 43.5 mm. It doesn't sound like much but gives a very different feel, particularly when the E-e string spacing is 2mm less than the Lowden. For me this makes it a bit cramped on the lower frets. The guitar sounds great though - with the typical Lowden overtones ringing out.

    i still cant convince myself to buy one for myself, this is best comparison by far in the whole internet, and after 3 years that passed from it i cant decide, laminate is really off putting, but ot still offers more than it costs in my opinion
    W sounds kinda boxy, but its small and cute, i got 2 solid body guitars, and maybe its time for sth else
    but the S model sounds so full and even majestic i would say…
    can decide, cant convince myself
    i cant afford real lowden tho…

    I’d say the one Ed Sheran is using is made from different woods than the one they actually sell sounds tinny to me but each to there own but lowden make some fantastic guitars I only live like 10 miles from there factory 🇮🇪🇮🇪👌

    @objectiveobjective1948 Před 4 lety +2

    Best part of €1000,00 for a veneer guitar 🙄 never !!! 🤔 you can buy an Eastman hand made all solid wood for half the price which sounds 10 times better. Be aware a lot of guitar retailers reject the Sheeran are not happy with the sound and intonation of it which is not surprising as they sound very ordinary for the money they want for them , that is unless your a ES fan.

    • @user-yb9gh1xp7j
      @user-yb9gh1xp7j Před 4 lety +1

      Correct! I have a Eastman ACTG1, solid top, back and side, cost me €500, sounds good . And I tried this Sheeran a month ago, which I would pay for no more than € 200...If you’re really into it, but the S04, this is the only one that sounds like a guitar.

      @@user-yb9gh1xp7j I have to disagree. Ive been listening Eastman actg1 vs gs mini for example and there is an gigantic, enormous difference. The Taylor sounds way better... More body, definition, etc. And the Sheeran vs gs mini too.. the Sheeran one has more balance.. so in conclusion, the Sheeran one is way better.
