Here is some tips to handle your dogs seazures so first make sure there is nothing around them so they can’t kick and hurt themselves off it and try to lightly toutch the animal calming them down softly talking and so on if it goes on for about 2 mins grab a cold wet towel and hold it on the dogs under-stomach the animal will start to warm up if I does that do this to and if ir goes for 4 or 5 mins or more call the emergency vet hope this helps
Finally! We've been searching for so long about what's been happening to our dog. She does something similar to this, and our only thought was a seizure, but we also thought no because they fall on the ground and shake helplessly, while our dog loses control over her limbs and get pupils dialate and she breaks heavily, very similar to this dog. I finally know what's happening to get! Thank you for posting this video, despite it being sad.
Everyone please google or search what to do. Keep in Mind your dog IS NOT in pain when they go through this. Do not place your hand infront of the dog's mouth.. Place a cold rag or ice wrapper in cloth by the groin or spine. STAY CALM.. Talk softly.. You have to just let them ride it out..
My little doggo is 14 and has had these for years. The vet said it isn't epilepsy because they're not Gran maul(sp?) seizures. She said it's just a neurological glitch. Keys are to make sure doggo doesn't overheat when these happen because their internal temp can skyrocket. And just hold them and try to soothe them with soft speaking and use their name a lot.

You’ve probably seen the comments say why are you just standing there doing nothing and recording and saying thats abuse thats stupid asf it’s better to not do anything and just record and be calm because it could literally make the seizure worse and just show it the vet to help the dog thats why she/he is recording and just standing
People stupid record your dogs seizure it will help the vet try describing what happened to ur vet and you will understand recording your dogs seizure is extremely important for the veterinarian
These people who are saying why is she recording blah blah clearly are heartless monsters and doesnt want the dog to get well. Doctors ask owners to record the seizure because based on inspection of the seizure, they identify how they need to be treated. So to these people in the comments saying help him help him, go get a dog and some experience.

Shes not doing anything wrong. You cant stop a seizure and a seizing dog can be dangerous until they come around. Trying to force the dog down can cause it to injure itself as well. Best thing is to record it to show the vet and to have a record of seizure progression or regressions from treatment. The vet being able to see is way better than relying on memory of what happened and your opinion on if its gotten better or worse. I had 2 labs with epilepsy and yeah the best thing we could do was sit and record our observations, time the duration of seizures and note the quantity and spacing of seizures. Id have much prefered a video i could have shown them. Charting worked for us to find a treatment plan that got the seizures from cluster grand mals to 3-4 yearly petite mal.
I think so people forget that there isn't really anything you can do when someone has a seizure other than be there to keep them from hurting themselves or others and to comfort them after the seizure is over. Recording it could also be helpful for a vet. Some people just don't think I guess
Bro a lot of people in the comments blame the lady for not helping when she can’t do anything. Vets needs a video of the dog seizure to be able to diagnose. But I guess people have never seen dogs having seizures before.
I used to work at the ontario humane society up here in canada. I was this happen to some of the dogs we had in our care. I would speak to them gentley. An pet them to to reasure that they would be alright
I hate seeing these but it’s informative and important to know and even when recording it you can also show it to your vet so they can a clear idea what it could be when treating for your pet.
Same. Sadly my dog kept having seizures and enter status epilepticus, with a seizure lasting over 2 hours. Her eyes bulged and her neck was completely contorted backwards and to the left. Heartbreaking to watch, and couldnt believe it happened to my baby girl. Please keep an eye on your dog, the vet said the very same to me, that it was just old age and it was to be expected and that she was fine, but less than 24 hours later she had a catastrophic seizure that ruined her, and our lives. Cuddle your baby boy and let him know how loved he is, although I did it, I wish I would’ve just took the day off work and spent his last meaningful hours with him. I’ll forever live with that regret.
I kind if know how he feels. I didn't have a seizure but i am diabetic. And once my blood sugar was very low. Like 2.4 and it scared the hell out of me. But i was at home so i was very lucky. I ate a little bit of choclate and i was fine. But i almost passed out
Mine had one too today. This would be his 5th in 1.5 years. It's not a lot but they last a while and he thrashes after he does this for awhile so I have to hold him down do he doesn't hurt himself. He is on generic keppra. I decided today to go to a specialist as my primary vet doesn't really know what to do beyond the medication. What we are doing can be the best option but I would like a specialists opinion and my pup deserves it even if I have to get a second job for a little while. He will still have someone at home watching him
@manu5279 Tip: Make sure there's nothing around them not to hurt themselves. If they have this wobbling movement, do not touch them, or they'll freak out. If they fall and start shaking uncontrollably, again, make sure there is nothing next to them and comfort them in a calm voice like the lady in the video If these 2 movements happen for more than 2-3 minutes, GET THEM TO A VET IMMEDIATELY, but people usually take them to the vet after 4 or 5 minutes of seizure
Hey I'm definitely not an expert but something worth looking into: this is gross but this happened to my dog Izzy a lot. She was part poodle and poodles have this issue more than most breeds but from my understanding other breeds do have this problem. something with anal glands that need to be, um, "expressed." 😐 happened every few months to a year. Ask a vet.
You can't do anything when a dog is having a fit. It's can make it worse and endangers both you and the dog. Many vets will want or need a video or some sort of documentation to make a proper diagnoses and thing of an appropriate treatment
How can you help a dog with seizures, all it needs is for you to be there with them. Go do research because vets needs a recording how long and how does the seizure affect the dog.
If you are not calm during this situation, it will stress the dog, making the seizure worse. The best you can do is try to calm the dog until the episode passes. If it goes on for more than 2 minutes, you need to try to lower the dog’s temperature. If these seizure episodes happen often, take the dog to an emergency vet.
Vets literally tell you to record when it’s happening so they can better treat the dog. If it’s 1-2 mins you should take them to the ER unless the vet who’s handling the case told you otherwise.
Stop being and doofus and think, the dog could have already been to the vet and the vet told them to record the video, it could be the first time and when a dog is having a seizure you can’t do anything because you could get incredibly hurt. Unless your a vet or ‘dog seizure expert’ I will happily disagree with you.
The only thing you can do during this is say calming things to the dog. If he hasn't had a seizure before, it might be unsafe to try and pet him, since he might be scared and have no idea what's going on. Recording is helpful for the vet. OG poster said that it helped the vet identify the issue.
@@user-xs3je4rn2y seizures aren’t just for epileptic dogs. This could be caused by something else that can be treated, and doesn’t have to be put down.
