@@calvinhicks1992 Are you serious? The Qatari bid fronted by Jasim failed to provide proof of funds throughout the drawn-out sales process. They bid but never had a bid that was above $5bn despite claiming they bid 6 million pounds plus a million to remove debt. Without proof of funds their bid was not real, worthless. They also ignored requests to value A and B Class shares equally so even if they provided a legitimate bid with proof of funds it could never have been presented to the United board.
The facts relating tom the Qatari interest in United were laid out in the United States Securities and Exchange Commission filing released on 17th January.
Although the Qatari response to the raise Securities and Exchange Commission filing was to claim what was written was not true and to threaten to sue they never sued Questions about the nature of the Qatari interest and the lies they told in their public relations have been asked.
It seems the Qatari interest in United was purely about gaining credibility.
Fortunately, unlike back in 1989, when businessman Michael Knighton agreed a deal to buy United that fell apart United avoided embarrassment from the Qatari scam.

Whilst I appreciate Simon's views as a former owner, his opinions all seem so tainted by that experience to the point he thinks everyone in the game (agents, players, managers, governing bodies etc) are all dark forces working against the saints that are the club owners who are always the misunderstood victim of their actions. oh shut up Jim dont act like you dont see the issue here and why two teams playing against each other with the same ownership isnt problematic. you could easily have a situation where a team isnt going to get it to europe next year by league postion but there best chance is winning in europe the current year to be in it next year. then the two teams meet and you could have a situation where it is the interest of the owner to basically throw the game away for one of his teams to give another a better chance of going through next year. then you also have the issue of player trades between the two clubs. easy to just set your own transfer fee up for a player when they are just moving between your own two clubs.
