by changing the colours, the England flag simply isn't present on the shirt. That in itself is fine, but why put a multi-coloured cross, which represents absolutely nothing, in its place? It's a ridiculous decision. They may as well have put a picture of a bowl of custard.
However, making the statement that they have chosen to 'update' the flag is undoubtedly disrespectful.

Older American here. I have a long history of purchasing school / team uniforms from major uniform manufactures. Before a manufacturer makes a set of jerseys / uniforms someone, on the purchasing side, has to sign-off on every detail of the layout / logos, etc. before the uniforms are actually produced. I don't believe that uniform manufacturers like Nike just come up with their own designs. Why isn't anyone concerned with this issue trying to track down who actually approved the layout / design change?
Ask any professional graphic designer working for a sign or clothing manufacturer, one of the cardinal rules is that you never alter any part of a team logo or governmental seal, emblem or trademarked design or insignia & that all designs are approved, by the customer, before manufacturing. Again, who approved the modifications to the cross?
