“If we can’t stop them from taking Tom away, I’ll never forgive you!!!” Iceberg probably regretted those words for a long time, even if he was still mad at Franky. Like he made Franky feel as though if Tom were to be taken away he would have no one left. He likely thought he pushed his brother towards throwing his life away

Things you make are tools, if you didn't make things based upon the idea that they COULD be misused then you've fallen into a dangerous trap of stagnation out of fear of the unknown. Most every single invention in human history has been used for other purposes than that intend by it's creator and those other uses vary between "good" uses and "bad" uses. We wouldn't have MRI machines (along with a lot of other medical equipment) without the invention of Sonar. Tom is the one who get's this right more than anyone, the act of creating anything is entirely neutral and you could never account for all the ways your invention could be used/misused. Franky is a bit too ignorant or naive about mindlessly building insane things. Iceberg is way too cautious and willing to "bend the knee" to fear. Tom definitely puts more thought into things but ultimately will build something he wants to build.
