- Petra performs "Creed" live at the Farm Aid concert in Irving, Texas on March 14, 1992. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Of all the wonderful songs Petra sings, they chose to sing Creed. A truly Christian Foundation. It leaves no guess work on where they stand and what they believe. Creed is total to where salvation comes from. This is my creed!
Straight up and with straight up lyrics...unlike some other Christian bands. No Fear when you walk with the Greatest Warrior of all time.JESUS IS KING OVER ALL.
I love Petra. One of the few Christian Rock bands I can really listen to. I can't believe they played Farm Aid though! Awesome.

He is even amazing without any technology or mics. I have heard him on video sets singing....and it blew my mind! They are probably my favorite to listen to even above The Who, Yes or Bowie! Just sheer God empowered talent!

What's it matter where they sang this song???It could've been done in the gutter in the ghetto !!!What matters is that they did it correctly!!!That's the problem with Abrahamics they think they hold the non negotiable truth!!!It's a cool song and even some of their other jams were cool.But you don't see lineups like earth wind and fire bragging how some of their songs are Christian inspired to secular crowd's!?!You Abrahamics hold the burden on proof behind your bold claims!!!

Have you ever even been to a Petra concert? Their Ministry was powerful! Petra was the greatest witnessing band ever! Every song was basically giving The Gospel of Christ! To this very day when I hear Scripture I can hear one of Petra's Holy Spirit inspired songs playing in my head! I have often thought that when Jesus returns in all of His Glory, that we will hear Petra playing in the sky! Going before The Great Army of God! Kinda like the musicians that go before the Battle! Many many times all the way back to the mid 80s. Probably have seen them at least a dozen times in concert.
I was blessed to have seen them live!
They had a Petra Reunion Concert in Steelville, Mo. this past weekend - 10-18-20. John Schlitt's voice is STILL INCREDIBLE. He sang this song & it was wonderful! My husband said this was his favorite song. Mine is Grave Robber - to be played at my Homegoing!!!! You have been to church when you attend a Petra concert. We worshipped. In fact, John insists on it!!!!

That was one of the names that we considered naming our motorcycle ministry way back in the day! But we were lead to call it Redeemed Motorcycle Ministries instead! But Great song for a Home Going! First concert I ever attended (and first exposure to rock music I ever had) was Petra about a month after this concert, thanks to our underground headbangin' youth pastor. Whiteheart opened for them. I've never been the same since.
I became a studio musician, music teacher, and worship pastor as a result of my exposure to this wonderful band back in '92. Thanks, Petra! Love and blessings to you guys!

John Schlitt has got to be one of the most underrated vocalists period, I've seen him live and his vocals never cease to amaze and for the record I ain't a follower of any Christian God thingy
His vocals are still awesome and he's 67. It's amazing because Paul Stanley of Kiss is 65 and his voice has just about had it. XD

His voice was very underrated. Dude could and still can sing. Unfortunately, the rest of the band not so much. Uncle Bob wasn't so bad... but Ronny Cates could only scream.

This is the best era of Petra, in my opinion. Beyond Belief was my favorite album of theirs.
