the thought of finding bits of Roman pottery is amazing to one living in the USA. i used to think, from watching Time Team, that new Roman finds were rare. mudlarkers dispelled that notion as u find so much just lying in the mud.

Although the mud looks like fun to trek in I do know that at my age it would be impossible, it's HARD walking! So keep finding you treasures and I'll keep watching! I enjoy watching so very much! lBack burnished ware, has Iron added to terracotta clay, then you find a nice flat stone and you rub the leather hard clay, this seals the clay making it waterproof, no glaze needed, very clever us Romans. My nonna was from Rome, just out side, My dad was born in Anzio, my great grandfather owned most of it, but lost it, gambling, women and drink. Those were the days, what a waste. And of course during the war was bombed.
