Funny , I just watched this earlier in week . Thanks bro ! Daryl did a tribute show and this was one with T-Bone hologram playing with them . The song was The Weight by the Dead , Here ya go ... Epic ... czcams.com/video/xr_AvX6ic9g/video.html
i ran into daryl in new york city buy coffee in a cafe - just gave him a nod - he came and sat with me and my girlfriend and we talked about just life -- so humble
Ha! I walked by him in a hotel hallway in Las Vegas. We were staying on the same floor. He walked by me and I said, "Hey Daryl, I love your Daryl's House show". He totally ignored me and kept walking.
This fantastic song is from their masterpiece album Abandoned Luncheonette and this performance really shows the magic that is Hall and Oates together. Having T-Bone playing some truly beautiful guitar on this performance just elevates the song even more. Outstanding reaction as always, Jamel.
Discovered the album the Freshman year of college in 1976, three years after it came out. It was on our Friday after classes MUST listens, the first side a couple of times...
John Oates wrote this song. I saw them live and, in my opinion, John's voice is so soothing. He's also a great guitarist in his own right. Their vocal blend is perfect.
Never heard this song before, as I started listening to them from War Babies onwards. Its wonderful! Another song that John Oates took the lead, that I love, is Can't Stop the Music (off War Babies).
This song is from their second album, 1973’s Abandoned Luncheonette album, the same album that the song Sarah Smile is on. It’s a great album with lots of soul and acoustic work, and harmonies. When you visited Daryl’s House for the first time I commented that I hoped you brought a really big suitcase with you because you were gonna need it. Glad to see you haven’t outlived your stay yet.
Abandoned Luncheonette will forever be an all time classic album in American pop culture. This has to be one of the most underrated albums of all time.
Daryl and John still sound just as good now as they did years ago. I love to see all the different and great artists get together at Daryl's house, the ones I grew up listening to back in the 60's/70's. wonderful talent, I really enjoy these video's Jamel
He has a nice voice and was the 2nd part of the greatest duo of all time. But, Daryl had the voice, amazing singing ability, and the looks. Daryl could've been a star even if he was solo. As much as I like Oates, I'm not sure he could've made it solo. So, he did just fine, imho.
I forgot all about this great song. Use to be one of my favorites many years ago....Think this was on Abandoned Luncheonette release. Abandoned Luncheonette is a great song too...
Hall & Oates is one of my favorite duos of all time, part of my wonderful childhood music memories. Fav. Songs: Kiss on my List, Private Eyes, One on One, You make my Dreams Come True, Sarah Smile, I Can't go for That, Family Man...list goes on. So talented! As you can see, I am clearly a fan. 😆💕💕
If you're going to dive back into Daryl's House and like harmonies...check out this acoustic performance. czcams.com/video/euoDbR9qASQ/video.html Daryl and his band jamming with the Bacon Bros. (Michael and Kevin--and yes, it's THAT Kevin Bacon). Goosebumps and chills galore.
A John Oates written song from their classic 1973 "Abandoned Luncheonette" album (which features their monster song 'She's Gone'). Their voices blend so well together and they are great at this acoustic 'unplugged' style. John is heavily involved in writing and arranging their music and when asked why he doesn't sing more of the lead vocals on their songs his reply is 'Have you heard Daryl sing!'. In saying that, John is a fantastic singer in his own right too. Both John and Daryl called T-Bone the "&" in Hall & Oates
My favourite song from 1973's "Abandoned Luncheonette" - "Were you ever so in love you couldn't wait to get to sleep at night and dream of the one you wish was right there beside you?" What an opening line!! xx
The "Black brother" actually has a name! It's Porter Carroll, Jr., a founding member of Atlantic Starr, A&M recording artists from 1976 to the present (they've also recorded for Warner Bros. and Arista)! Carroll released a solo album in 1986. Session work has filled the decades since, as he continues to be a tour drummer in Daryl's band on the road. Now that the "Black brother" is nameless no more, feel free to dig into his voluminous and creative career!
Live at Daryl's House is a treasure trove of live music. I'd like to see your reaction to some nasty blues. The kind of nasty blues that reaches down inside of you and touches your soul. Start with Albert Cummings Barrel House Blues at Don Odell's Legends. You won't be disappointed.
I almost cry every time I see T-bone Wolk. I love their cover of the Band's The Weight on Live from Daryl's where they have a recording of T-bone doing the infamous "Crazy Chester" verse (originally sung by Band bassist Rick Danko) and everyone else sings live. The major "guest" is GE Smith, who along with T-bone was a part of the 80s version of Hall and Oates, including all their classic MTV videos. Smith led the SNL Band from 85-95, with T-bone right beside him. He later became the prime example of an on-stage musical director for Bob Dylan. I highly recommend watching the many YT interviews with Smith describing getting the gig with SNL (he was married to Gilda Radner), his time with David Bowie (he was a model not a musician), getting the gig with Dylan (T-Bone was with him. Dylan wanted to play Pretty Peggy O, but nobody else knew it. GE and T-bone did.) One of my favorite performances was from the 1993 production of the 30th Anniversary Concert for Dylan's My Back Pages. Smith, wearing the hairstyle of one of the "Home Improvement" kids, introduces the concept of an on-stage musical director for a big multi-star concert. While pretending to be a performer, he ensures that each star hits their mark, does their solo and gets their vocal, with the likes of Dylan, Clapton, Harrison, McGuinn, Petty, and Young.
There is more musical ability and talent in these 5 people than any 25 2020 you can name combined. Period. Trust me ....its not even close. There are no computers or autotune or any other contraption used today to assist artists today involved in what you just heard. Ive been performing with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and my voice for 20 years. I know how hard this is. Its true talent. Its too bad the current younger generation really doesn't know or understand what true musical talent is.
I thought "...Daryl's House" was a DYI house-flipping show, like Vanilla Ice's renovation show, lol! Then a friend from the UK sent me a clip of the O'Jays, on "Live From Daryl's House", and I was an immediate fan. Thanks for the share!
Shout out to Brother Dave for the awesome request. I had sent in a request for this song from Daryls House a long way back....but I am so stoked that you reacted to it. I knew you would love the guitars and harmonies. Sooo sweet, sooo smooth! Peace, Love and all the Happiness in your Life! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜DG
DAMN! They sound just like they did when they originally recorded this great song from Abandoned Luncheonette in 1973! That was like 35 before this recording on LFDH! Thanks again Jamel_AKA Jamal!
I'd never heard that song until I bought a 2 cd greatest hits. It's probably my favorite song of theirs. Daryl's singing is as soulful as it gets. And risky. And amazing.
This was always one of my favorite all time songs, from Hall and Oates' masterpiece, "Abandoned Luncheonette." Also love "Just a Kid (Don't make me feel like a man.)"
Watch the performance at daryl's house with train. They do a great version of papa was a rolling stone. Not as good as the original, but its a good remake. Listen and give your opinion.
This is the first time I heard this song and John sounds great , he should of taken the lead vocal a lot more when they were together. Daryl always got the lime light.
John wrote and sand lead on many songs on their first several albums in the '70s. They have an incredible past of great '70s albums that many of their fans from the '80s have never heard. Hall & Oates used to be much more of an equal creative partnership. Hall obviously wrote most of the hits, but John's songs were very, very good too.
Absolutely LOVE THIS . Thank you for posting it. What a gem find. Just saw H&O in concert Feb 2020 right before Covid hit. Man they sounded so good after all these years apart.

What a cool dude.

I've always tried to tell people that John Oates has a fantastic voice too. Thanks for helping me to prove it.
Agreed. To me, he sounds like Paul Simon in this song.
Their voices still move me all these years later. Just love them together
This guy deserves a million followers. ✌️❤️
At least! I say there should be ~3 million subscribers. ✌
They still sound as good as they did thirty years ago
30 years ? Abandoned Luncheonette is almost 50 years ago !! :)
This fantastic song is from their masterpiece album Abandoned Luncheonette and this performance really shows the magic that is Hall and Oates together. Having T-Bone playing some truly beautiful guitar on this performance just elevates the song even more. Outstanding reaction as always, Jamel.
Great album my favorite, not a weak song on it

I love this… Hall & Oats are brilliant Philly style.
Everything that's recorded at Daryl's house is special. I've never heard this song - so beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us !
It's on Abandoned Luncheonett, IMHO their best album.
check out Kandace Springs or Diane Birch obscure (?) artists yet terrific talents
@@jrichard711 I'm with you BEST hands down. Love this song
So raw, totally genuine, authentic artistry. They will never go out of style. Beautiful song and arrangement.
Love when we get go to Daryl’s house!!
Yeeeaasss!!
From Abandoned Luncheonette LP 1973. This was my first H&O lp that I got. Great record! still have it.
I was 9 when it came out...but it's my favorite album.
I kinda liked "Las Vegas turnaround" off this album
Never heard this song before, as I started listening to them from War Babies onwards. Its wonderful! Another song that John Oates took the lead, that I love, is Can't Stop the Music (off War Babies).

I had a feeling it was an old one. Thanks.
Sara smile is on their 1975 fourth album. Abandoned luncheonette is a great album none the less.
@@mikep749 Yes, I meant She’s Gone.
They were the best duo that ever existed! Took my daughter to their concert in '84. She was 3, now she's 40!
Thanks for taking us to Daryls house 🏡. Always a good time 😃
Excellent choice, great harmonies, great album. These two know how to put a song together and bring a feeling to it that everyone can relate to.
You couldn’t tell it’s been a while since hall and Oates performed together
T-Bone died in early 2010 so this is actually an older clip
they have never split up
It had been too long since we took a trip to Daryl’s house!!
Please continue to go to Daryls
Oates always joked that he was highest paid backup singer in history.
This was awesome! So glad you finally got back to "Daryl's House".
Chills from their harmonies. So damn good!!❤
This is my favorite era for their songs. And John Oates just shines in this one
Oh my God. They still so sound so good together. I wish they’d go on tour again. ❤️🥰
They sound as great together as rhey ever did. 🌹
Yessss Hall and Oates they still sound so good. Always loved them. 😎
I remember watching a solo Darryl Hall music video in the 80s. My Dad caught a little of it and asked, "where's Oates?"
Abandoned Luncheonette will forever be an all time classic album in American pop culture. This has to be one of the most underrated albums of all time.

One of the songs Oats is the lead and Hall is harmony
I’ve seen Hall & Oats in concert twice. The best!

I am so in awe of Hall & Oates! I have loved them forever!

That reminds me of Glen Frey's comments on his role in the Eagles. Those who overlook John Oates role in Hall and Oates are sorely mistaken.
