I do have a question about health, if you are in your first year of cancer completed treatments and doing well will they discount that when obtaining the health insurance policy? And as a granddaughter of Spanish Austrian grandparents, I have not been able to successfully find my grandparents birth certificates from the 1890s in the civil ministry of the province of Asturias in the county of Ponga. Will this be helpful in securing my NLV visa in case the medical part is an issue. ?

    Just found your channel - going to binge watch - was initially drawn in by your videos about toasty (since that's what I want to do when I retire next year) but then saw that you've moved to Spain - I'm also planning to walk the Camino next year; walked the last 100 km in 2018 loved the experience & love Spain so these videos entice me to dream a bit - hummm maybe a possibility - few questions please 1. I will fully qualify for a non lucrative visa but may be thinking of starting a You Tube Channel - is this permitted or is it looked at as a form of working by the Spanish gov? 2. Is it hard to find apartments in Santiago de Comp. ? I loved the vibe of being in a university city but don't know if I'd enjoy relocating there . 3. Are you taking Spanish lessons? 4. What's your actual cost of living monthly?
    Thanks

    As a holder of the Spain Non-Lucrative Visa, you are classified as a tax resident after spending more than 183 days per year in the country. This status implies that you are subject to Spanish taxes on your worldwide income. The tax rate for income, including pensions, starts at 19% for EU residents and 24% for non-EU residents. Tax rates may vary for other forms of income.
    Key points:
    Tax residency: More than 183 days in Spain per year.
    Income tax: Starting at 19% for EU, 24% for non-EU.
    Capital gains: A minimum of 19% on worldwide income.
    You must file an annual tax return if you meet the tax residency criteria. You may also be liable for wealth tax, depending on your assets and the specific autonomous community where you reside.

    I think this is a very helpful process video and Marina is helpful. However, especially retirees need to know the TAX implications for US citizens. Taxes in Spain are on worldwide income, and other assets you have and Spain has a significantly higher taxes than the US. I’ve been looking at moving to Spain for a while and it may not make sense.

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, that's definitely something to consider!

    • @stevenponte6655
      @stevenponte6655 Před 6 měsíci

      That is good to know. Do you know if this because of the USA or Spain, or both? Because I know that USA citizens get taxed on their income wherever they move to.

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Před 6 měsíci

      @@stevenponte6655 We think it's probably Spain. There is a tax treaty between the countries, so there's no double taxes. However, we haven't experienced a tax season yet.

    • @DavidYYC
      @DavidYYC Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, it is valid question - we have been looking at this visa, however, tax implications (we are from Canada) might be a big deal. Spain has higher taxes than Canada and paying additional 30-35% on top of Canadian tax doesn't make sense.

      @@DavidYYC We've been told that the best thing is to get a really good accountant who specializes in this. We're planning on going that route this year.

    Dont forget a detailed price description. Dont pay before you find out what you get.

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Před měsícem

      Absolutely. That’s why we like Marina. She’s super transparent about pricing. We spent less doing it ourselves, but the difference wasn’t that much because we made some mistakes with translations and unnecessary documents. It’s always worth talking to a pro if you’re worried or confused about the process.

    Nothing on a person from the US and Spanish taxes. I suspect that tax rates are very high....40% or so....how is that an advantage? Without knowing the tax rules, nothing else is important.

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Před 21 dnem

      There are tax treaties so that you are not paying double tax. Yes, the taxes are higher in Spain but if you do not want to pay the taxes, then there are other places to live.

    Hi, I have two questions that many would also benefit from an answer and few videos talk about:
    1. If you are already a permanent resident in Spain and at this point you are just renewing your resident visa every five years, do you still need to have a certain amount of money in the bank to meet IPREM requirements ?? 2nd, if you become a Spain citizen does that still require you to have a certain amount of money in the bank and are yearly taxes incurred with the citizenship perk ?

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Před měsícem

      Awesome questions. Honestly, I'm not sure about the IPREM requirements for permanent residence renewal, but I imagine that you have to meet some minimum requirement. I'd be surprised if you didn't. Citizenship is a whole other thing that we haven't looked into deeply, but my understanding is that once you become a citizen, you're treated like any other Spaniard. You have access to all government programs (like healthcare) and there are no more minimums or requirements to remain. You are Spanish.

    If you are a US citizen with no "special" problems it is easy to yourself. Just get your FBI apostile sone first as it may take 3 months to get it back. From the time of submission to approval was 21days.
