Coming up on eight years of owning my 2.0T Sport, 87000 miles, and no major issues yet. More than enough power, great in snow, happy enough with it to consider buying a 2021 Santa Fe or the soon to be new Santa Cruz. Hyundai still does a great job with their styling, inside and out.

Just picked mine up a week ago!! Love this beauty. After filling up 3x (I drive a lot for work), I averaged 25.5 mpg on my first tank, 26.2 mpg on my second, and 24.5 on my third. This guy's an idiot. You reap what you sow, drive like an idiot or "normal" for him and get 18 mpg, or if you want to obtain EPA estimated mpg, then drive lightly, bring your car up to desired speed, then apply just enough throttle to maintain speed. That's it. I've used this technique on a handful of cars & it works!

Forgive me if someone already said this but he probably didn't have the door locked. I discovered that right away, the remote start won't work unless the doors are locked. It does take a minute or two but its worth it!

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is the best designed and most technologically advanced SUV of 2014.
Hyundai auto technology is one of the most advanced in the world. Hyundai engineers its own engines (known as Lambda) and is 100% Korean technology. Korean technology companies are the most advanced in the world (look at Samsung... the world's biggest and most advanced technology company by revenues and innovation index).
    FORZA HYUNDAI MOTORS!

The BlueLink app works great, and is incredibly easy to use. Not sure how the demo app works, but the normal version never fails to start my Santa Fe. It is an incredible feature for those frigid winter mornings or sweltering summer afternoons.
Also, that 18.6 mpg has to be with someone playing around trying to hear the turbo blow-off, or seeing how quick the car is at every light. I get 23+ easy.

Had this car rented, I was very impressed. I wouldn't mind a v6 version, and do wonder why in the world don't they have leather seat package. In overall it's an amazing car for the price. Hyundai really stepped up!

This isn't an issue for blue link start up. You can actually start, unlock, lock, and hazard the vehicle from anywhere you have a signal. It takes anywhere from 5sec to 2min.

  • @ChummyChime

Hyundai and Kia are still not refined as they should be, their cars look good and have more standard equipments, but the feel still not up to par to Honda, Toyota and Nissan but I bet these Korean companies will be there in several years, I just hope they will keep their prices competitive.

A turbo brings in more oxygen to burn more fuel but the ratio of oxygen to fuel has to be constant: (too much fuel or not enough oxygen results in power loss and wasted fuel). All a turbo does is allow a smaller engine the ability to burn as much as a larger normally aspirated one. Three basic ways to burn more fuel (to get more power) add turbo/super charger, increase displacement/cylinders or increased rpm. All three give you more power bc you are burning more fuel.

Surprise number 3: The mpg is just fine. Not great, middle of the road. Middle of the road is surprising? Surprise 2: The buttons.... Surprise 1: A Ford had technology problems. Oh wait, no. There's another number 1 surprise: It's... what? The app? Or that the app didn't work? What a strange video.

Thank you, thank you for sharing the MFT experience in the Explorer! The more this is talked about (hopefully) the better chance we have of Ford actually fixing this widespread problem. I love Ford vehicles, but have completely moved them off my radar ever since I had the unpleasant experience of (briefly) owning a 2012 Focus and having never-ending issues with MFT.

      *****
Wow could you be more ignorant than that hahaha! I`m 34 years old and testing cars is my job since I was 25. You see...if you were in the industry you would know that some things that are made for a certain vehicle are divided in basic categories - necessary and those that are not and that we will install if you pay for it. The problem is that many of the new things that are connected to your mobile app for example or things in a car such as touch displays just don't work as they should and it is not to good idea to have them. For example when you can start your car via mobile it is just a program that can be hacked just as any other. Touch displays have a condensation problem on their surface an it is just pure physics. If you get in a cold car, turn on the heating there will be condensation and sometimes it will not respond well. So...hi tech gadgets are OK but...some of them are NOT necessary and can cause only problems. And your example with somebody chasing you...come on...really. :) If you are running yeah..there will be time to type a code in your mobile phone and then what for a confirmation. :))) Learn something before you disgrace yourself.

    • @karlranck1
      @karlranck1 Před 10 lety

The car engine needs to be warmed up before it can function. It has moving parts that can get frozen or stiff. In some cold places, you actually need to plug your car into a heater when you leave it outside or it won't work

I like this fat guy's reviews. He does 0-60 with two man sized men in the car, at altitude, from a solid stop. That is realistic driving. If you are a normal man (say 6' tall and 180 lbs) you will be driving with perhaps another 40lbs of crap in your trunk, frequently with another person, and you won't be on a track.
And as for his 18.6 mpg.
    a) Those computers are ALWAYS generous - he was probably getting 17.
    b) If you really *drive* a car, you will be doing well to match the EPA *CITY*
