    Small world. I literally JUST dealer traded this exact vehicle (trim, color, year, all options) for a customer from Dublin Hyundai in CA to Stockton Hyundai. I just dropped it off at her home in Elk Grove. It was a great drive. A little squishy at the limit, but comfortable and packed with features. AWD adds much needed extra grip. Without AWD, the 2.0t roasts the front wheels in Sport mode - at least in the rain. I drove the FWD 2.0t through the Altamont pass (it was pouring) and it would lose traction for several seconds under hard acceleration as the front tires struggled for grip. The AWD version I came back with was much more planted.

      @@anthonypham9206 That's great news. I have a 2017 Genesis G80, best car of my life. But, in my job, I recently switched from office to field sites in EE, visiting utilities, and it feels uncomfortable driving that car onto construction sites. I remember driving in a friend's Santa Fe Sport 2.0T limited with the ultimate technology package in 2019, I think, and it seemed like a very nice crossover. Part of me wants to keep the Genesis until the wheels fall off, it has been such a fantastic vehicle, but the other part of me wants to get your crossover because of engineering work in the mountains (and weird glances). I also can get 28 mpg, sometimes break 30 mpg, in the Genesis on highway driving. What is your highway fuel economy in the Santa Fe Sport?

Wish it has Apple car play and maybe slightly sportier seats, I drive a 2016 GTI Autobahn so maybe I’m spoiled a bit with my seats. Picked it up for 25k with 13,000 miles last year and haven’t had any issues. Just hit 25,000 miles on it. It’s surprisingly well equipped and really gives off a premium feel when cruising around and with that warranty it’s that much more reassuring.

    There is a app for the remote start for the ultimate with tech package. I went for the black exterior with tan interior which is awesome. I love the touch screen and apple car play. But I agree with some of the controls. And I love the sunroof. I thought I wanted the Volvo XC60 but then tried the Ford Edge. A friend told me to try the Santa Fe which led me to the Sport which I ultimately went with. With all of the upgrades it's a good choice for me. To help others I went from driving a honda Oddessy. We have a 2 teen sons a college freshman who we've already purchased a car and our middle son who will be 16 soon and we will be purchasing him his own car which just left our late in life gift who is just 5 and myself. My husband has a larger SUV so a smaller SUV was a good choice for me. We drove to Florida for a cruise less than a week after I bought this SUV a few weeks ago and I was surprised how much I could get get in the SUV. I have the roof rails so that may come in handy. I will say the lane avoidance helped us avoid a serious collision on the I-95.when a idiot wasn't paying attention. I admit I haven't read the manual and need to learn how to program my seats, garage door openers, gate opener and lift gate opener. I just haven't had time.

      It is a phenomenal value. I bought the 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Ultimate, used with 35k miles, exactly 2 years ago and paid about $23,800 (All-in, Tax/Title/Tags). Today, with only 45k miles, it would retail between just over $25k and as high as $27k in my area. I've had no issues with any of my Hyundais. I've owned Hondas, Toyotas, a BMW and Ford and Chevy trucks. Other than my 1990 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si (manual transmission), this 2017 Ultimate is my favorite vehicle.
      This car was an addition to the Sonata Hybrid and 2018 Santa FE Sport 2.0T (Premium or Convenience package), both of which we bought new in 2017. We'll be adding a 4th car in the coming months as our daughter gets her license. This 2017 Ultimate was intended to be hers to use, but I may keep it for myself, or get myself the 2023 Calligraphy version.
      In terms of instrumentation panel and dashboard, I much prefer the 2017-2018 console to the newer, tablet-style models. That drove my decision to get this car used instead of a new 2019 or 2020 version. I'm glad I did. Love this SUV!

    • @thechase-secondchance5077
      @thechase-secondchance5077 Před rokem

      @@Kazze1 I do think it is worth the extra money to get the Ultimate trim. I tend to keep my cars for a long time (over 10 years, on average), so I like to buy the fully trimmed model so I don't have any regrets later.
      Typically, I'll buy new cars and eat the initial depreciation knowing that I'll have it for a long time and the value will catch up to the initial loss. That I purchased the 2018 SF 2.0t new, and after 3 years it was beyond my expectations, I was comfortable buying the 2017 used with the idea it will be a solid car for me to use before I pass it on to my daughter. The deal was made sweeter with the dealer warranty added to the remainder of the Hyundai warranty.
      The only issue I see is that my wife loves her 2018 in Mineral Gray but she really likes the way my 2017 Ultimate (in Black) drives...so they may fight over who will drive which as their primary vehicle. Regarding the difference in ride, I could be wrong but I think the weight of the panoramic roof creates a somewhat smoother ride. I really don't know but there is a noticeable difference in how they ride...mine seeming more like sedan and hers like a sporty SUV. I would be curious to know if anyone else has had the same experience between the two versions.
      I really want to test drive a Santa Fe plug-in hybrid but they don't sell them in my state. Though, without the tax credit (thank you, Biden Administration) for Hyundais, the additional cost may not be worth it to me. I'm not sure how the Inflation Reduction Act, with its emphasis on the Green New Deal initiatives is helping if it disincentivizes people from purchasing the hybrid of their choice. It's almost like lobbyists had a say in the drafting of the legislation.
      Do you have a Hyundai?

      My daughter turns 16 next month. She has learned to drive in her mom's 2018 Santa Fe Sport 2.0t and in my 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.0t Ultimate. She prefers my car over her mom's. Mine does ride a bit more smoothly, maybe due to the heavier (Panoramic) roof - I don't know for sure. She also likes the overhead view along with the rear view camera. In any event, I'll be giving her use of that one and getting myself a new one soon. I'll tell her, like I've told my 18 year old son: "Look at your everyday car as your mode of transportation AND as a piggy bank. Take good care of it because it will end up being the down payment on your next car."

    Santa Fe sport or Mazda CX-5?

    • @WakeUpAmerican000s
      @WakeUpAmerican000s Před 6 lety

      CX 5 is awesome, but it is considerably smaller. Inside CX 5 is only 68 inches from the front-seat console to the back door and 40 inches between rather high wheel wells. Santa Fe sport is 76 inches and 45 inches between (very low) wheel wells. This translates into about 25% less cubic feet of space in the back of the car, or about 13% less space behind the back seats. A six footer can't sleep comfortably inside the CX 5, but no problem in Santa Fe. Mazda charges $400 extra for roof rails that don't work with standard Thule/Yakima clamps and crossbars. SantaFe can tow up to 3000 lbs - CX 5 is 1000 lbs.

    Why is there this sick obsession on all car reviews to pick if the dash is soft touch or hard plastic? Who the hell sits in a car and feels up the dash like a total perv?! I mean just feeling it up for no good reason and finger printing it is very annoying to the car owner/driver. I can understand having soft plastic for arm-rests and door panels, as it makes it more comfortable but soft-touch dashes seems very silly of a thing to even bother with!

    • @CAyou
      @CAyou Před 5 lety

      I would say that the look of soft plastic is quite different than hard plastic. But I agree, you never touch them.

    • @WakeUpAmerican000s
      @WakeUpAmerican000s Před 6 lety

      CRV and RAV4 are considerably smaller. CRV has a sewing machine engine, but gets better MPG. RAV4 rides like a truck compared to this car. This car is more value for the money unless you're looking for a smaller vehicle.
