    From the day I took delivery of my 2017 Santa Fe the only thing I did not like was the ride. It was very rough riding. I asked several forms and could not get a definitive answer. I was told by several people that the tires were the problem. They said the Kumho tires that the car came with were crap and the cause of the rough ride. Well, at 14,254 miles I bit the bullet and put on a set of Michelin Premium LTX 235/55/R19 tires. The difference in the rides was amazing! It is like night and day. While not a 10, the ride has to be somewhere around an 8 or so. I could not be happier and not sorry at all that I spent the money and switched. I hope this helps other owners in their quest for a smoother ride.

    Engage brains! The belt loop on the passenger belt PREVENTS the buckle from rattling against the side door and wall when there is no passenger in the front seat. It's very innovative.

    • @littleftbl33

      It does look ugly but thanks for the info about its function.

    • @BandBoxParade
      @BandBoxParade Před 7 lety +7

      It merely takes some understanding of its function. Once you learn and accept its purpose, it ceases being ugly. Most of us drive around alone in cars. When the passenger belt is not in use it is nicely cushioned from rattling against the B door pillar. In short, get over it.

      Actually, never saw the ugly ass loop in any other vehicle, so pretty sure it’s not necessary to have it to keep it from resettling against the side. Wonder if it has any other purpose besides annoying people..all the little things can add up and make someone not buy a car. I would actually pass on buying a car if I knew about half their annoyances. The tailgate lift is usually on left side of dash by steering wheel on every other new vehicle as well. So I agree with that too..basically I agree with everything except the CD player. In fact I wish vehicles had the 6cd loads like before, but now it’s just one. Not having it is fine now with teens, but as an adult I just like my cd’s sometimes when traveling long road trips.

    I love, love my 2017 Santa Fe! the looks, the upgrades, the space for kids, sports equipment, groceries, luggage..the get up and go after 6 years is outstanding! I do agree with the assessment of the posts by the windshield as a shorty too I had blind spots UNTIL I put an orthopedic cushion in the seat which raised me up enough that I no longer have the blind spots. My car didn't come with the android selection I connect via iPhone. You get used to the tailgate button located with the interior lights and buttons to open/close the sunroof. Turn on notification of car or persons or objects coming into the path of your car and be patient for them to move away. The only problem I have with the passenger seatbelt is it's often difficult to fasten. All in all a very reliable car (my second Santa Fe 200K) not much upkeep tires, oil changes --- Love My SantaFe!!!

    This was awesome. You're so knit-picky, I just bought a 2018 on the 1st. I'd watched your vid (as well as many others) before I embarked upon my shopping adventure with the dealers. Now that I have my car, I'm revisiting videos. Maybe Hyundai was listening, cuz mine has all the bells and whistles (that come w/ an SE-Ultimate Package). I test drove 2017 & 2018Highlanders, and 2019 Santa Fe XL SE and 2018 Santa Fe XL SE with Ultimate package. I have bench seats, identical interior leather seats to yours down to the color and I'm cool with everything. Educational and entertain to revisit your video. I kd you not, YESTERDAY I was looking for the "internal" lift gate button and NEVER found it! So now I know where it is. Your quirks aren't deal breakers, as you've mentioned so many times. And I. LOVE. MY. CD player! Also my last care was an 07 Santa Fe, I was in head on collision with a deer and another car. my 07 Limited was totaled. I walked way from a disabling crash on the highway with nothing but a broken foot. I did not know at the time Santa Fes had such a high crash test rating. I found out after the fact when my car didn't crush in on me or rip apart on the highway in the pitch black hours of the morning. Having a Santa Fe is an extra piece of mind when it comes to crash tests. My foot was broken because I was bearing down on the brake upon impact. My cabin STAYED intact. My airbag imploded but didn't even hit my face. God is Merciful & Good. I love my 2018 Santa Fe XL. thanks again for sharing your video

      I agree 100% . I won't buy any new vehicle if it don't have a cd player. I miss the cassette player my toyota sienna had with the cd player. I bought used because the sante fe sport in 2017 still had a cd player. I wish I could delete all satellite radio features and keep only the features I use. I have my own GPS with no operating fees I also like the usb port for music I don't use blue tooth on my phone I like wired no health risks. I wouldn't blue tooth in my car. I won't use a cell phone in my car for safety reasons. I turned off the annoying messages like windshield wipers, lights and other things I already I know what I did. I wish I could get rid of the door open message because I want to see the mpg and odometer readings before I pump gas I know my door is open. Who ever came up with these nonsense messages should.go back to school. Enough said

      I don't use CD's much but I'd rather it be available than not be available. It's not like people look at the CD player and think it looks dumb or wish that space was used for something else. It's a tiny slot and a couple of buttons. Not a big deal.

I look forward to trading in for for a newer model. I find this video a bit picky. Everything he is uncomfortable with is probably great or at least functional for others. I like the flexibility and thought put into it. For instance, A lot of people like a CD player, including myself. I don't use it often, but like the fact that it's there when I need it. When I don't, I have a phone holder that is designed to fit perfectly in the CD slot. It puts my phone exactly where I like it. Hate blocking up my air vents or clunky suction cup holders. It's a great looking and riding car.

    I have the 2016 Santa Fe Ultimate, none of the 10 things you mentioned I considered major or even minor. The thing I do find annoying, but you didn't mention has to do with the lift-gate. Every time you walk past it, it will open even if that is not your intention. First, it starts beeping, which is good, but all that does is increase your stress to get away from the sensors so that the lift-gate does not open. I find that if you give the rear of the car a 3 ft avoidance, you can eliminate the gate opening.

    Good review overall, I disagree with you saying that more people have iPhones. I've worked in the cell phone industry and Samsung gives Apple a run for their money with the Galaxy line. I was surprised that you missed the 3 things I didn't like about my Santa Fe, or maybe it has been updated. When I close the sunroof, I don't like that the shade automatically closes. Sometimes I just want to close the window not the shade and have to open it back up again. The other thing is that I have to unlock the doors from the lock/unlock on the door if I get out of the car with my key fob, I cannot use the key fob to unlock a door. That to me is super annoying. And lastly, I hate that when you remote start the car, the hazards flash. I don't mind having the running lights come on but I don't want them to flash.

    Mileage i get 19 city and 24 to 25 on the highway
    But engine wise I feel a bit lag in rapid pickup when I accelerate immediately considering 290bhp.

I don't have to have my phone taken anywhere to replace my battery. Apple is not an American company and their headquarters are in China that is a big red flag to dump apple. the passenger side seat belt is folded and stiched so if the vehicle is in a wreak the stitching will tear so if someone has wreaked it and repaired it and sells it the buyer can tell it has been wreaked at some point and may have some kind of permanent damage

I own a 2012 CX9 and I would say that the Santa Fe is more comfortable for my body, better ride (CX-9 is very stiff). Please appreciate what you purchased because I am actually looking at the Limited version for my next purchase! I said it, that is how much I appreciate this vehicle. Cheers on an honest video, non of your beefs are deal breakers, I do agree with a second point you made. Drive Safe! Cheers.

    My biggest complaint about my 2013 Santa Fe is always having to click the confirm button on the screen to get to the satellite radio screen. I understand that there should be some kind of confirmation about using the navigation, but just to use the audio system! I can't figure out how to get the audio system to just come on without having to touch the confirm button on the screen.

    It is 2023 and I just purchased a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Ultimate - I love it and do agree on a few of your dislikes. The one thing I have an issue with is that when I park at the stores, I hit the lock button to try to find my car - and it is just a very low sounding chime. No horn whatsoever. It also does the low sound chime when locking the car so I am never sure if it is locked. I can barely hear it even when up close to the vehicle. Is there any remedy for that??? Thanks so much. Very helpful video.

    I love my 2017 Santa Fe Sport. I would change a few things though. On the dashboard, I don’t see why we have to have separate radio and xm buttons. Pushing either one takes you to the same screen, and then you just have to push either the fm, am or xm tabs.
    The climate button is useless. When you push it, it just shows information. That’s it.
    For the “mode” button, I would have incorporated that into the touch screen.

    I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY DESPISE the fact that the rear lift gate seems to open by itself at the most inopportune moments. It has happened twice at home and just now at a store. Since I leave the car from the front it is not the proximity function and in all three cases I didn't realize this had happened until AFTER I get back to the car. It is a SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE! In any of these three incidents I NEVER heard the liftgate opening.

    I am happy you brought up 10 points that you consider important. That way Hyundai / Kia receive feedback from the very people they try to please. If I happen to agree or not, the importance is that your observations are out there for others to comment upon. Both Android and iPhone should be supported throughout the economic markets as a matter of customer support. The wifi setting could be used for diagnostic / recall information but currently this is not the case, at least for the consumer. The loop on the passenger seatbelt must have an undocumented added feature because as a latch stop alone makes nonsense. The shape of the steeringwheel and grips does indeed remind me of my 1992 Cadillac, so thanks for pointing that out.

    Nothing confusing about the buttons on the dash. They're all clearly labelled or marked. They're within reach as well. It is not as if you need to look at them every other minute whilst driving in order to proceed. You'll only use them to make an adjustment etc. which is how often? It's your car and once you've familiarized yourself with it, button operations should be a breeze. I do agree about the tailgate button. It's weird.

    The only thing I agree with is the seatbelt. The rest is just personal preference that I disagree with. Even though I might not use the CD player much I know other people will and it's great they left it in. Like my roomate who is super jealous that my car has one and his doesn't (same year, different cars). He is old school and still owns a flip phone and would prefer a CD player. We are planning a road trip with my car and he is excited to bring his music collection with us lol. It gives more versatility and variety and will fit everyones needs. Same with the consul, you can use the touchscreen for anything but you also have the option to use the buttons. I use both, button as the shortcut and then adjust on screen. The visability isnt the best as you mentioned but makes up for it with the 360 cam which you can turn on while driving too. Not only when you back up. It's awesome and love this car ^_^

    I agree on two things,
    1. The belt loop definitively looks ugly.
    2. The manual shifter should have been placed on the left side instead of the right side. I found myself pulling the shifter into automatic mode as I tend to pull the knob towards me when I try to shift speeds. It does not seem natural to be pushing away from you to shift. It might also be possible for the passenger to inadvertedly take the shifter from manual to auto by bumping into it.

    I'm just glad I lease Hyundai. Soon, I'll be going into my fourth Hyundai. My first was the Sonata which was horrible in the snow but very sleek during the better months. I take the blame for that because the car had performance tires not the thicker wider tires which would've been better in the snow. My next vehicle will be the third Santa Fe.
    But I need to say this as a driver, you find flaws as one continues to drive these cars but not to the point you can't drive it. So leasing is a very good way to get out and into another brand new car so you're not stuck with the same vehicle for 8 -12 years.

  • @AmieB823
    @AmieB823 Před rokem

    I purchased this vehicle as a used car in 2020. I got it with only 30K mi. and at a good price. I generally love the car, but I HATE the seatbelts. I am 5'2" tall. The seatbelt chokes me. I have to use one of those little straps that pull the lap and shoulder belt closer so it actually hits my shoulder and not my neck. This problem is not specific to this car, they all do that to us shorties. BUT--In addition, the latches are a PIA to latch. They have to snap into the buckle with the slightly curved side down. I can't tell you how many times I've had to struggle with the the latch to get it to click into the buckle...if you are in a hurry to get going, it's extremely frustrating. Additionally, when I go to unlatch the belt, The center console is so close to the seat that it's hard to get my finger on the release button. I have small hands and there is very little space between the seat and the console. That may be the problem with the latch in a nutshell. There's only so much space to maneuver the latch into the exact position that it needs to be in to meet the slot with ease. As I said, I love the car but the seat belt makes me crazy almost every time I get in the car. One other thing your wife mentioned about the blind spot when you are checking to the right for traffic: yes, that blind spot is a pain, but the position of the passenger seat is an issue when you have a passenger. Depending on how far back the passenger has the seat, there is a blind spot where the head rest is when it's moved back for someone with long legs. When it is behind the rear door post--another blind spot is created. Just my observations....I agree that most of the others that you list in your 10 are minor aggravations.
