Bought a old XR 400 from a guy in Beverly Mass. Wanted to street it but i needed a certificate of origin to do so that wasn't available from the seller. Called American Honda with the vin and they were able to point me in the right direction to find the original dealer and low and behold it was a Canada bike. Called Honda of Canada and they gave me a clean Letter of good standing so i could satisfy my DMV and register the bike. That process took me 5 months of research. Thats my You Tube story of the day.

John and Mike: although the Honda Elsinore was a major leap forward (especially the 125) Honda was not the first (by a long shot) to use an expansion chamber. Remember Honda was late to the game to produce a two stroke motocross bike for public consumption. Many companies like CZ, Husqvarna, Maico, and the Spanish like Bultaco, OSSA, and Montesa were using expansion chambers by the early to mid 60's. Before the expansion chamber some companies in the very early 60's were using a blooey pipe on their two strokes. (Greeves, Montesa and D.O.T. / Villiers come to mind). But even the first Sherpa S Bultacos were running expansion chambers by the mid 60's. An yes as Mike mentioned the Suzuki TM 250 was out before the Elsinore.

I have one of these 1973, Seeing your ebay store I should be able to get $10.000 for mine, if I part it out.

A lot easier to sell whole as I'm sure you know. Are you interested in selling it?
