I remember during Dark Reign, Tony became a fugitive. He was made into a criminal by Osborn because of his failures in Secret Invasion. Norman was always on his tail, secretly trying to get all the heroes' personal information that he wants to have which was in Tony's memory. In order to protect that very sensitive information, Tony had to wipe his brain clean in the end if I was not mistaken, reason why Tony during this event, was not in his 100%. That's also the reason why he was using his classic red and gold armor because the rest of his armors were confiscated by Norman.

The Sentry has to be the most OP character in Marvel ever created. With the Void unleashed, he became overkill. If Reynolds hadn't held back momentarily to allow Thor to unleash that tremendous blow in the end, he would've easily killed everyone. It's amazing WW Hulk went toe to toe with The Sentry, he's never shown any fear or worry to any being except Black Bolt. I read somewhere that he stalemated Galactus, and that is absolutely insane.

Thor has been always for me the best, because his truly power is incredible, and is always a thing you don't see on every comic of him. He fights with inteligence, with contention, like a true hero. And he knows the meaning of sacrifice and humility. And he commands the storm, the lightings and thunder. Is not that enough awesome? Ok, take this, he has been adored for centuries in real Life.

Lol. That fight was the dumbest part of King in Black. 1. Sentry wasn't merged with Void, 2. He was suppose to be out in deep Space away from Earth, 3. Sentry has come back from being molecularly dismantled and killed through time Travel so he definitely should've came back from being ripped apart, and 4. If you're going to worf someone there should at least be a small fight but we got nothing and it was instantaneous. All around, it was a disappointment. So much hype for absolutely nothing. And dragging his corpse around, having some villain grow a fetish for it, and having his soul tortured is just spiteful. Donny Cates is a douchebag for that

The problem W/ The Sentry is he doesn't have weaknesses and being that OP
has no place in comics.
Even Superman is vulnerable to Magic and strategy.
His weakness is his mental instability and inconsistent powers. It's like they didn't really know how powerful they wanted him to be. At some point he was strong enough to take on Molecule Man with matter manipulation and rematerialize his body from nothing - on other occasions he is just punching people. I think this is one of the reasons they decided to kill him off.
They sentry is more powerful than superman and thor still took on sentry 💪

Ol geezer here . Used to read comics when older brother gave me one of those giant comics back in the late 70s . It was about 18X12 in . Maybe $1.50 Loved it from the begining . Left it for many years until the movies lately . Just been watching CZcams videos of issues . Thor has done some verry powerful feats like taking on the World serpent which went around the earth for example . I think he's just as powerful as any cvharacher in marvel or DC . He can definitely be a more than a match for anything like Superman , Sentry , Hyperion etc . He's definitely one of the strongest there is period . Nuff said

After looking at this I can say that sentry have a non sensible power source
I mean he have all those powers because of a 100 times better version of super soldier serum and sentry can use Super Strong physical attacks which completely makes sense because super soldier serum makes a normal person stronger physically but Sentry can freaking shoot Lasers from all around his body that is equal to nuclear explosion, means anything really Marvel?
They could have showed something like this, the serum was exposed to some kind special cosmic energy before giving the serum to Sentry that would have completely make sense

What's so epic is that although Moonstone is damn worried since Thor showed up (which is the norm since THor is a powerhouse), Osborn isn't since he knows that he's got the Sentry to at least hold Thor back. A battle between two powerhouses and everyone knowing that it's for the most part a battle of two that is out of their league is so darn epic
I truly can't stand Sentry.
How I imagine his creation went:
"So, we're making a Superman-like character (again), but better! He'll be strong like the Hulk... but stronger! He'll be fast like Quicksilver... but faster! He'll be invulnerable, so nothing can hurt him! But if something DOES hurt him, he can regenerate like Wolverine... only better, so nothing can kill him! But if something DOES kill him, he'll only stay dead if he wants to!"
"Huh. So, does he have a vulnerability, like to mental attacks?"
"Uh.... Hmm. No, I think he has mental powers! Like Professor Xavier!"

Sentry seems like the kind of superhero a 5-year-old makes.
I think it’s a cool concept tbh. A character that unpredictable and dark with power set that vast could be used to great effects if written properly
@MAGABOZOtrump Marvel has been experiencing a steady power creep for decades. At one time Wolverine healed "faster than most" but has gone on to insane regeneration. Hulk at one point could lift 80 tons when relaxed (according to OHOTMU), but now starts well over class 100. Galactus was once a force to be feared, but now every time they want to show how powerful a character is, they make Galactus their bitch, so it no longer has meaning. Power levels have gone through the roof, so that it's kind of pointless to measure them now.
That’s pretty much why when I make a character I make sure their abilities have restrictions and their morals have weak points 😅 the character needs to be at least SLIGHTLY flawed to be more understandable and relatable, and to avoid being turned into a trump card that can solve every problem and just doesn’t for some reason 🤣

This is from Siege... my most favorite event ever in late 2000s. I just love how Sentry just went full evil on this one. And oh, the way how he destroyed New Asgard? It's basically the same way how Captain Marvel destroyed Thanos' ship in Endgame. That's a reference that all movie fans surely doesn't know til now lol

Thor is damn powerfull.
The Sentry is the one person you don't want to fight irrespective of whoever you are. If the guy has his head straight, he would even destroy Odin let alone Thor or other Asgardians. The dude fought GALACTUS to a standstill. If the void had taken over he would have probably killed Galactus singlehandedly. He is like the epitome of Marvel cheatcodes. A more classical version of a less powerful equivalent to Dr. Manhattan in a way. His fight with Molecule man pretty much proved that. Even if we compare Sentry to RK thor I highly doubt Thor manages to beat him without assistance from Ironman (his tech, not combat).
The thing with the Sentry is that he is essentially plot personified. Any story which has him go all out cannot have him lose in a fair and square death battle. Even without using the powers of the Void he fought world breaker hulk to a standstill. I do not see any version of Thor besides RK thor pulling off that feat. Now yes Thor too has many of the feats that void sentry has but Sentry can warp reality on top of being as strong as RK thor in combat and endurance and overall power. I do not see him losing to a single character in marvel comics whether it be Thor, Hyperion, Icarus, Strange, Franklin richards, or even Ironman with plot buster armor, unless ofcourse the plot makes him lose out of necessity as in this story.

For all the people who say Thor was able to kill the Sentry only because he allowed him. For the first: it was Bob Reynolds who asked Thor to kill him and Thor refused. Then he turned into the Void and attacked him, that's when Thor killed him. The main thing is that Bob and the Void are two separate personalities. Bob wants to die to not destroy the world, the Void doesn't want to die and wants to destroy the world. So it doesn't matter if Bob wanted to die, since Thor killed the Void, who had completely different plans. I guess Bob didn't want to rip Ares in half, but see how it turned out. Secondly, what does allow even mean? Did he become less durable after he asked Thor to kill him? No. Or did he just stay still awaiting for Thor to kill him? Again no. This just proves my previous point: the Void has a completely different persona and he didn't make it any easier for Thor to kill him. If for example Bob asked Spider Man or Captain America to kill him, do you think they would succeed? He asked Thor because Thor was able to kill him, not because he could somehow make the Void less durable for him to die. If he could do that, he could've simply died on his own, just by wishing so. And, by the way, some people try to support their theory about Sentry allowing Thor to kill him by the fact that he didn't regenerate after that strike, since he can come back even after being reduced into nothing. And it's a valid point, until you remember that he was actually going to regenerate, that's the reason why immediately after killing him, Thor took his body and threw him into the Sun. Later the Death Seed Sentry told Thor that he burned and regenerated there endlessly, until the void left him. So, technically, Thor didn't exactly kill the Sentry, but he did beat him, and it wasn't just because Bob wanted it, Thor had the power to kill him from the start, it's just his restraint against going all out on Earth and against mortals, since he thinks even of Banner as a mortal, as well as Bob Reynolds. Also some people use his statement during this fight when he said he was going to strike Sentry with all his power, as a proof that he wasn't going all out. That was actually a weird phrase, since Thor can do much more than just summon lightning, and his most powerful attacks are the God Blast, the Anti Force and some other blasts, that can send Ego into coma, threaten to kill a hungry Galactus and defeat Glory, who can hold planets in his hands. But either way, for some reason Thor lied, since dropping a Helicarrier on the Void inflicted much more damage on him, than that attack of Thor, and it wasn't even a planet buster, while Thor at the very least is capable of planet busting with full force strikes.
I think is as simple as Thor ONLY won because the writer dictated it. Simple as that.
