Should I focus on a business model? I’m planning on a cleaning business with 4 employees. Also what if I’m not business literate when it comes to all the math and jargon involved like crunching numbers to get the highest profit margin. When should I see a CPA? Can they confirm I have all the licenses and permits to get going? Where do I find a good cpa? Can a cpa or a lawyer build me a solid contract and waiver when setting up a new client for my business?

All good questions. Personally I’d start leaner unless you have enough work to support 4 employees.
For math/margins a little cheat code to get started would to call cleaners in your area for a quote and see how much they charge. If you’re in that range you’re at least not under charging. Your margin really will be based on that and how much you’re paying employees. Yes there are some costs but cleaning material is pretty cheap compared to costs of running other businesses.
Most of the services offer a biz license and permit research package that will be cheaper than a CPA. I know Bizee does one for $99 I think. It will still be one you to get those but they’ll spell out which ones you need and I’m certain you’ll need some as a cleaning biz.
An attorney could be the way to go for a contract but you could also google cleaning contracts and see what you find online. Then modify it for your biz name/info and then present the attorney that contract if it’s any good.
I use CPA and attorney but I try to minimize my costs by using services available to me at cheaper rates (like the bizee research package) then present those findings to the CPA and ask if you’re missing anything. Their hourly will range $125-250 so much cheaper to do some stuff on your own and then bring them in.
Lastly little hack to find a good CPA (who can recommend a good local attorney) is Quickbooks has a search tool for an advisor. Use it in your local area and find someone with good reviews who also offers a free consult.
Do your homework on your end first, write down all of your questions in advance and get value out of that call. If you like that person you may want them to set you up with Quickbooks for bookkeeping.
Here’s a link for that search tool. quickbooks.intuit.com/find-an-accountant/
Also I’d recommend Gusto over QB for payroll as I find it to be much easier to use but if you like that CPA they may have a service they recommend too.
The CPA is a great place to start bc they’ll act like your biz point guard who can help get you up and running.
      Good luck Andrew!
