I once went on a date with a guy who told me he was a marine biologist. I suggested we go to the aquarium because I thought he would be comfortable and have a lot to talk about. He spent the whole date talking about what type of fish you can eat and nothing else. At one stage I exchanged glances with another woman who clearly felt sorry for me. I didn't go on another date with him but a few months ago I went to a fishmonger and bought some fish from him...explains alot! 😅

The pimple thing reminds me of something that happened to my brother. When he was little he got a bump on his back. It took years but it finally turned into something about half the size of a golf ball. Doctors just said it was a lipoma and not to worry about it. He goes on a first date with this girl (a friend of my sister) and they end up going swimming at the lake. This girl notices the bump and as she asks "What's that?" She touches it with her finger tip. This thing decides it's a great time to explode and covers the girl in the foulest stench and ick you could imagine. My sister dies laughing when she tells the story. I guess the girl decided that nothing worse could ever happen with him as they ended up dating and getting married later LMAO

A few years back I knew a woman thru work whose family got her a Match profile. She added her wants: tall, good sense of humor, catholic, wants a family, etc. Her first match was… her brother!!! 😂 Needless to say, she cancelled her membership.
This is hilarious, especially when you think about all the information people add about themselves and probably about the kind of person they want to meet with (right?).
Imagine matching wih someone; receiving photoshopped and so heavily filtered photos that you don't recognize your sibling; and neither do they, because you have done the same. None of you even recognize their hobbies, pets, life stories, etc. because both of you have embellished your situations to such an extent its unrecognizable, but it does make an unbearable life more bearable. Especially when it has to survive the scrutiny of a dating app.

Last date I went on before my husband was a set up by a friend. I was a stay at home mom for 10 years in a previous relationship and apparently this new guy had been told that about me. We met at a restaurant and 5 minutes in he's talking about our kids and how excited he was for me to be able to stay home and raise our kids. My only child was 10, he had no kids. He expected me to have a bunch of kids and be his housewife, and couldn't understand why I wasn't super excited about it too, moments into our first meeting. I didn't even have the chance to order food yet. I was out of there so fast.

My mum met my amazing step-father on E-Harmony in 2009. They're still together and he's the best second dad anyone could ever hope for and have. They got married in 2019. The Social Security woman was probably texting his answers to her questions to someone else. That's why she would text the whole time. Sounds like an identity theft scam to me. Bet they talked about pets, where they grew up ("Oh I lived there for a while! I was on x street, how about you?"), parents, etc.
Okay so this is a little awkward, my best friend messaged me to tell me that she linked on a dating app with my ex-husband that I'm still friends with. She about fell over laughing. I eventually told my ex-husband. She got off of dating apps after that 😂😅😂
That first woman prejudged her date so hard, came with a horribly negative attitude, probably gave a really weird vibe with being dissatisfied by every answer to her rapid fire questions (which is why the cafe workers felt sorry for him, not her), left abruptly, body shamed him, tried ghosting him instead of being honest, and then bragged about her experience on tiktok? She has got MAJOR issues. He's lucky she ran away from someone normal.
Idk I don't like the whole putting everything on Tiktok especially if someone didn't do anything real messed up, but not sure why you are so certain she made the whole thing miserable when there's only what she said to go by? Yeah, she seems to have gone in with negative preconceived notions, but if she'd made him that uncomfortable I'm not sure why he would message her twice asking to see her again? If he's messaging her like that she probably wasn't rude at the time and just acted normal. Where did she say she made the Cafe workers uncomfortable? Ghosting him would be messed up, but it doesn't seem like ghosted him either. Sounded like she replied that she didn't want to see him when he wrote the second time. Either way it didn't seem like he did anything wrong, just that the didn't click, so not sure why she felt the need to put it on social media to begin with.

I tried the various forms of dating and was so utterly done with it all. So that new years eve, I hooked up one last time with a friend and then swore off dating for at least a year, determined to develop myself, become a better me. That was fine until March, when I met a guy in work and we had mutual friends and we all went out together one Saturday night and spent the majority of the night kissing. Now it is twenty six years later and we are stronger than ever. Maybe fate decided that I had paid my dues to the bad dates gods and sent me my soulmate as a reward lol

My boyfriend and I matched on tinder on the day we both wanted to delete it because it was such a terrible experience lol. I didn’t expect him to match back but we instantly started messaging it was so sweet :) also the first guy to take me on an actual date and didn’t ask me to basically just hangout.

I am 900 years old, but even way back when, I detested "dates". Usually though I had had contact with the person under other circumstances and there was enough familiarity to justify giving it a shot. I think I went of 5 dates in my whole life. Three of them became long term relationships and the fourth became my husband for the next forty three years.
Last year for fun I made a sample profile on a daring site. I've been a widow for almost 4 years now. My account lasted exactly three hours and I took it down. One date i met her at McDonalds (nice and public , safe for her) We had something to eat and decided to go for a walk around the nearby park and lake. You are right Charlotte, most people on dating apps are there for a reason, especially when you are like me. I only go on dating apps for a month or two at a time and then take an almost one year break. Seeing people three years in a row, same profile, same picture and they try to talk to you again!!!

He also told me he drinks a six pack every day and that he had a drinking problem because his psychiatrist increased his meds and the meds made him crave alcohol.
