    I own a Tisas, the basic 1911-A1. I really like it. I think I'm going to change out the safety/mag catch spring. But otherwise it's been great. I put grips on it just for fun and added a Wilson Combat 25 lines per inch front strap checking piece. The checkering piece needed double sided tape to keep it in position, but definitely improves the feel of the grip.

    I have a SA Mil Spec from the mid 1990's. My Tisas Service Special dates from last year. I can't tell a difference other than usage on the Mil Spec, the markings and the main spring and housing being arched on the Mil Spec and flat on the Special. Both would be great value but I am glad the Tisas is available now because the $600 the Mil Spec cost today was just outside what I could do. Mine was under $300 but that was almost 40 years ago.
    It's good that these are available because your Second Amendment rights should no more be denied by economics than it should be by politics. And there should be quality you can get at all price levels. Not everyone can afford to drop $1K to $2K on a gun. Especially in this time of Bidineconomics.

    I have the Springfield Armory GI .45 1911 that they discontinued about 10 years ago. It was right below the Mil Spec in price (like $60 to $100 less). It has a blued barrel, parkerized finish, shorter GI sights (which I actually like. More suited as a fighting gun and makes me do more with less.) and a higher narrower ejection port. I’ve shot it for 18 years. The only change I have made to it is swapping the thin hammer for an aftermarket wide long hammer spur. My guesstimation is it’s got 20,000 rounds, more or less, through it.
    Like your mil spec, it does have more effort to flick the hammer lock on and off (which I too like),

      Thanks for reply, just as a note we can't own firearms for protection unless we are Cash and transit security guards and must be in uniform and on duty or law enforcement. Most shooting I do is target shooting. I personally don't own any yet but would like to in future. The Ronin either target or operator, Loaded target model is is mostly what is exported here. I have seen one shop have the professional, but not the operator. Oh and the emissary does get exported here as well. Although based on rust issues you have had, thinking I should stay away from it. The Garrison an Prodigy have only been seen, like the Professional in one shop.

    • @BERETTA9mmUSA
      @BERETTA9mmUSA  Před rokem +4

      My answer is Springfield Armory & Colt 1911’s are very close in quality. Colt is not worth much more of a premium over Springfield, unless you as a person love the idea of owning a Colt. Nostalgia reasons. If you fall into that group of Colt enthusiasts, who think Colt is “The Best” like 3 out of 10 people feel that way it seems. 3 people out of 10 really feel that way no joke. Then a Colt is worth the money. No Question. I Love my Les Baer 1911, or my Wilson Combat 1911’s, so I get it.
      You ask me for my 100% Truth & try to be unbiased in my answer as much as possible. I truly think the Springfield Armory 1911’s are a very Solid 1911, and Young Beretta and I own 8 of them. YB and I purchased 5 Springfields in one day at a large Gun store. The Colts we have looked at in the last Decade have not really impressed us that much and we own 0 Colt 1911’s as of June 23rd 2023. That may change if I find one that seems like a Great Quality Build & I gotta have it. If that is you… then Buy The Colt. If not, stay happy with your Excellent Springfield Armory. That is my answer.

Check the trigger several times, check the reset 2 or 3 times, look the Springfield TRP or Colt over…. front strap, mainspring housing, sides, top of slide, mag well, muzzle, barrel. Check barrel drop or lockup by pressing slightly on the top of it. All that Quality Control stuff we show in our videos. These were areas of concern for Colt like years ago…. Not sure in 2023.
