I got my 1911 A1 Army (the latest incarnation of this gun, just hit the market) on the last Black Friday for only $300, took it to a range and put 28 FMJs through it and 20 Federal HST hollow points through it without a flaw. Granted, not much ammo yet, but I had put a red dot on my EDC and had to use the time to dial it in and make sure it held the adjustment. The Tisas is more accurate than I am, and just impressed the heck out of me. A guy on CZcams tried to have a conversation with me to tell me how bad the guns are. Yeah....versus the numerous positive demonstrations of the gun here on CZcams. Then when I took mine to the range it performed as expected, flawless. Can't wait to take it to the club and shoot half a day with it and see what happens. I know a lot of fun will be happening though. These are well made guns. I don't know about how they were years ago, but they are right on now.

@@n721sw - I chose the Federal HST for the gel performance, but also because the point has a slight radius on it before the edge of the hole, which I expect to help with feeding. Some hollow points come up and look like a volcano crater, and I expect those can give 1911s, which were originally designed to fire only FMJs, a problem.

Bought one of these since I never had a 1911. Sometimes buying a cheap version of something can put you off from progressing because they're not really good but I was very surprised at how well they're made and how well they work. I would definitely recommend one of these as a lower cost way to learn to shoot a 1911. Even got a holster and use it for concealed carry on occasion. During the break in period I had the same issue with hollow points but I think it's just the nature of their design. After 500 rounds it will feed everything and no issues. Even went through a couple boxes of the aluminum Blazer rounds without choking on them.

Sometimes extra money just doesn't equate to extra gun. Around 2008 I was sponsored by a friend to attend a 4-day defensive handgun course at Frontsight in NV. I bought a Para-Ordnance, my first 1911 and put a few hundred rounds through it to take with me. It preformed perfectly and accurately and earned me distinguished graduate status. Over 4 days, I saw at least two guys having issues with their 1911s, one a Colt and the other a Springfield. My buddy took his $1200, (in 2008) Kimber and it did good for him.

I would have liked to have seen more brass to see if they all had light primer strikes. These new models are equipped with a light weight titanium firing pin that may be a little tight fit for now? The failure to feed looked like a mag issue? I just bought one of the new Tisas 1911 A1 "ASF" U.S. Army 9's and the mags were hard to load because they were so dry, I oiled both mags before firing and I had no issues with ball or HP rounds. The stock Army sites are terrible especially the front being curved.
