- This was the first time racing the Rock Cobbler Gravel event in Bakersfield California. I breakdown my experience and talk through the course. I was on a road bike for this event, not really by choice, but I think it worked out well.

Great video! My ride that day ended at mile 17, so I didn’t get to see what I missed on the ride until your video which seems to capture everything well. I’m the guy in the most seen bull video, but I’m not the guy in the red helmet in this video, I’m the other one. Amazingly, the other guy is From my area & also from the Fresno Cycle Club, so apparently we’ve got 2 stupid club members. As he said where we ride we’re always riding past cattle, so like him, I didn’t think twice about it. Great video & thanks!
That bull was serious about not sharing his trail. "Now go on, git!"
Was wondering who the other , way worse hit guy, was! Glad you’re ok. Does fcc have group gravel rides?
@@joel2293 thanks! Yes, FCC All Roads is the gravel arm of the club. They’re having a great annual ride in 2 weeks, the Everyone Loves Raymond ride in Raymond CA. The ride is $95, includes a couple post ride beers & taco lunch & a great route. Ride is Saturday 3/19.
@@tonyinderbitzin5324 ya I’m
Signed up for that. Looking for gravel group rides in the area. I’ll check out the all roads section. Thanks Tony
how much did that hurt? not ego lol but physically
99% of pov ride videos are pretty dull... I know because I've made a few...you're the 1% that gets it right! That was a fun watch ,thanks for bringing us along 👍
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words. It’s a lot of work to make a 30 min GoPro video worth a watch.
@@TheVCAdventures It felt like 15min
Unless it's from megavalance. Then it's epic whatever pov
_"The bike industry has three spokes and a pedal in stock..."_ hahahaa.. Man, I love your commentary style and wit. You always throw out some great one-liners that really make me appreciate the matches being burned at the moment! Always a delight to see that notification bell light up.
Bet it is a proprietary Canyon part he needs.
a left or a right pedal
Christopher Blevins is the current mountain bike world champion for short track not that anyone gets confused 😂
thanks for the info.. i was confused when this was mentioned..
came here to say the same thing.
Exactly what I tough. Nino is still the XC world champion…
The bull actually found its way to Germany's biggest news channel one week after the event. :) Entertaining video as always. Keep up!
Netherlands too
Yes, please please please make a vid about how you avoid flatting through your ride style. I’ve not ever flatted and I’m wondering how close of a style yours is to mine. Great video!
I’m always flat. All the time
I'm so glad you're doing well! For me, the bike has been my biggest hobby for 30 years. It gives me strength and salvation. Keep it up...
Dude you spoiled us so hard in December. It's been too long but I'll take what I can get. thank you so much for making this video can't wait for the next one
I’ve got a massive year ahead and it took a bit of planning to setup. So I kinda took a break from videos to focus on getting the year planned. I appreciate the continued support after 2 months away from CZcams.
@@TheVCAdventures Playbikes Bro. Love the Strava shots of little dude descending on mtb. Yuhh
YES! Waited patiently for 2 months! I've missed the funny Ad-Libs so much lol. Thanks VC
Riding this course on 33c tires was nuts. Well done.
Awesome ride, Tyler… I have been waiting for your report on this event and it could not have come at a better time. Thanks for the inspiration, as always. Cheers!!!
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make this along with family, training, work and life obligations. Future me says he doesn't mind waiting for future you to make more videos 😀
Tyler, you've outdone yourself again! On top of the video being great, the editing was tops! Favorite cycling content of all time right here, can't wait for the next one. Thanks!
you were missed with your videos!
It looks like an amazing race and top video as usual :)
Excellent Vlog. Good to have you back at it. I Love your adventures through your lens.
We've missed these videos! Thanks for another fun one. You're a beast!! 👊🤙
Back in the room, great to have you back. We’ve all just been killing time.
Absolutely brilliant video, great to have you back!
Amazing to see you back @thevegancyclist
what a race KUDOS on that.
Salute.
Love from Germany
Glad to see you back! This is by and away one of my favorite vids. Ever. You play-by-plays and POVs are always so entertaining but this one in particular had a bit of polish whilst being irreverent i couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. I’m in Norcal and i HAVE to ride this next year. I’m thinking i might road bike it myself. Congrats on that great FTP btw!
Missed your content. Honest. And you cover the whole gamut of emotions on a long ride.
Welcome back!
Love your race comments, keep on doing. Was missing your videos.
Nice to see you back. Quality content as usual. Good on you for taking some time off to recharge.
Great recap Tyler, it was fun running into you on the practice ride. Section 5 was where I started to fall apart as well. 26 is a solid finish, there were a ton of strong dudes out there!
Missed you, Tyler! Love your take on cycling and life!
Good to see you VC. Brilliant vid as ever, bloody great result too 👏👏👍🏻👍🏻
Tyler, that course was incredible!!!! Cheers for the content. TY
So glad we got a video. It's always top tier entertainment for me!
i laughed out loud several times with the pop up edits. chapeau ! beautiful weather too
Super entertaining, you're such a great story teller!
OMG what a awesome video!! Thank you for making and posting this!
Thanks for the laugh, VC, walking down that hill and calling yourself a loser. And I really enjoy your event--not a race--breakdowns and explanations. And such a bummer, those flying bottles like flying burrito brothers. And I'm okay with any free snacks and beverages, always the treat and sort of like a church picnic with friendly people.
Glad to see VC back
Great video as always - love you fun additions - more please
Missed seeing one of your vids! super hilarious, especially the Rick part with the bottles. Love your videos, your honest storytelling makes me feel like I am riding along with you! Very down-to-earth and human!. Your family and friends are very lucky to have you. Saludos Desde Republica Dominicana!
about damn time you put out another video - we're dying out here!
The course was beautiful. Great to see you back. Also seems like you figured out liquid calories is the way to go for you. Losing your bottles was tough at that time. I hope you enjoyed your break. Looking forward to the next race. Thanks for sharing as always.
Great Video! Glad to have you back.
Love this one. 👊🏼 good on ya for your weapons grade self confidence. Keep rolling my man.
Red Helmet Bull Guy is a LEGEND! Glad no major injuries.. Great job to all! Congrats Tyler and NOICE EDITS!! Yuuutt!!!
Exactly--Bakersfield, who knew? A rad event for sure. That's great that you felt so solid throughout the day. I chatted briefly with you after the event, but my goal was to "finish and not feel like throwing up". Unfortunately, didn't quite get there. Peace! -Greg
Wow amazing course thanks for sharing, the downhills look awesome.
Got to love the commentary. One of a kind!
Ah man, I've been hanging for a new video from you and you delivered a ripper! Loved it
Miss your videos so much! So glad VC is back!
Such a fun Video to watch ! Loved it
Always happy to see another. Funny stuff, you rip dude.
Flat out laughed out loud at least 10x. Great commentary bro. That bull charge was priceless!
Course looks like so much fun, and beautiful scenery too. Really entertaining to watch as always!
Most fun race vids on yt. Thx!
Great video. Super entertaining as always.
Great video like always,, very good to see you again! 🤙🏾💪🏾
This was one of your best videos!!
😂 I learned early on while experimenting off road that Fidlock water bottles and cages are the way to go. Nice job either way!
Learned the hard way and was advised to go the King Cage route (if you are running out of things to spend money on get the Ti ones but I got the SS ones and they arent that much better in my hands over SS)
@@MrLorence Specialized z side loads aren't that bad either. Many a rock garden tested.
Yeah. I got turned to Fidlock by Francis Cade's vids. I use them on my hardtail and havent lost a bottle even on a crash. 😅😅
I enjoy your video, it was refreshing to watch! Keep up the good work!
Best cycling content on CZcams. Love it VC!
Could watch this forever! Love this! 😎
Been so missing the channel. Love the new edits!
As a DH/Enduro/DJ MTB rider I have to say I enjoyed watching something so completely foreign but still on bikes. Riding drop bars and skinny tires on trails has to be gnarly especially after big sprints and endurance grunts! Amazing stuff.
VC....so good to have you back. Missed your vids.
5 minutes behind in a 6 hour long race? That is pro level brah!
Sweet video man...love how you do it....course looks amazing!
Wow! This is fantastic content. I love the on board camera angle and post narration.. Separating the video into chapters for each sector of the race... The little comedic edits are perfect too.. I literally laughed out loud at the first "I guess you just need to be prepared to die". Lmfao.
Great stuff. Please make 10,000 more videos like this one. Thanks. :)
Love your commentary videos, thanks for sharing!!
Dude. This video is amazing. I also did this ride for the first time -- and witnessed the guy who got hit by the bull, twice. I finished 6th to last, but I finished! This was no doubt the hardest physical activity I've ever undertaken.
At min 27:44 that's me in the yellow/black top, center frame.
What bike are you riding? I want to try this but I don't have a two thousand dollar mtb/road bike haha
@@IsmaelChamu I rode a Surly Long Haul Trucker (2009), canti brakes.
We missed you VG. Loved the video!
Awesome video ! Love it 🤘
Fantastic video. Been missing them!!!
awesome video, i liked the graphics and funny editing. what a crazy bull!
Man the course was MEGA epic and that's an understatement
Dude one of your best vids yet…. Awesome
VC is the Meme Lord
Thanks my hero! I miss this place soooo much
Love those videos! Great ride man!
Ah man, beautiful video! I'm glad this came up in my recommendations. You have a new subscriber from the UK, despite not even being able to ride a bike myself! 😂 Keep up the good stuff, buddy. 💯
You're a very good story teller. Video offered a pleasant distraction from writing stuff for clients. Thanks!
So intense. Nice work! That bull!
Duuuuuude. Not sure how I missed this last year, but what an amazing video!!!
Such an inspiration Tyler …. My enthusiasm for rides lapsing over a long UK winter but this just brought me right back into hunger mode again. Never let go of that Flow Formula though…. Rookie error 😂🤣😂. Well done again
soo entertaining to watch, love this video
Hats Off to the Bull guy ! If that was me I think I would of called my mom. 😩😂
Great video. Now I wanna ride bikes! Great race Tyler!
this is the 1st video I've watched on your CZcams channel, really enjoyed it and I'm going to subscribe now.
I don't think I have watched a video this intently since LOTR series. :) Sooooo friggin' beautiful, scenery, editing, memes... everything!
Great vid. Looks like a really fun event
Welcome back champ.
Love the new mindset!
Who would have thunk- Bakersfield? Gorgeous course.....I admit to wondering where the hell you have been - you give us all this good stuff like Telluride and Mauna Kea, and then its like where the hell did VC go? Also realized how much I enjoy your ridiculous adventures by not having any for awhile..! Thanks for this....great fix!!!! Keep 'em coming, you animal! You are an incredible inspiration by showing us both great moments in a given undertaking, but more importantly those times when things are not going well at all, and how to get past that, maybe learn a thing or two, and still walk away with a big ol' smile. A notable moment like that would be when you were lying on your back on Engineer Pass, thinking, screw it, I'm just the Universe aware of itself right now....EPIC!
Fantastic video! Great stuff.
New to this channel! love the content and the edits are hilariou!
thanks for the flow formulas discount, I bought some and I'm excited to see it it makes me ride like you
sweet video. im so jealous of west coast dirt waves..as an east coast dude thats some great stuff. holmes you were humbled by world class fellas. nice job.
It's cool to see my hometown featured in a VC video!
Perfect tier choice. looks like you had a great time Ooohh and Bontrager cages are the best i haven't lost a bottle
Hahahaha man your vids are great Bro!!!! I laughed my ass off, great content man. Yeah man I agree with you about your road bike, maybe bigger tires would have helped? I don’t know cause I’m a novice gravel rider. I have a diverge with 38 panaracer sk tires and that is a lot of fun for me. I’m 70 and enjoy riding ever since I was a kid, I also broke my shoulder hitting a fence and Fallon off my bike on cement at night but am recovering slowly. My diverge is a cheaper bike and so it is freaking heavy like about 21 lbs. anyways great race and congratulations on your ride and placing. I’m sure it was a hell of a ride👍🤪😎
Bears, now Bulls...WTF? This video was amazing. Loved everything. Also lots of humor.
You are still alive! Nice vid bro!
Dude. That was a sick ride!!
I have missed your videos and commentary glad you take time for the family but man January and February feel a little empty with out you man 🤙🏻
Great video and enjoyed the commentary.
