In England especially in the past e.g. the 70s & 80s. The white people were so anti Black in every sense.
That most African and Caribbeans kept their culture to themselves.
Rather than being ridiculed and thought of as inferior.
Living in a culture where you are hated because of your skin colour and your plight is ignored takes it toll on your psyche.

This is my observation of some African content creators, especially, those from western backgrounds.
    1. They complain about racism in the West and all the barriers they face.
    2. They return to Ghana, they are honest about challenges and opportunities in Ghana.
    3. They engage with Ghanaians on the streets to make content. Sometimes it’s obvious the people they show case are not comfortable, but knowing how welcoming Ghanaians are they go along.
    4. They create positive imagery of Ghana and we begin to love and support them.
    5. Bam!!! They start bringing other returnees and start exhibiting ‘foreign complex’. How different they are from the dominant society, how they don’t know how to speak the language, the food, etc.
My question is when you or your parents migrated didn’t they try to assimilate by learning the language and culture? How different is it when you are coming back to an African culture you are not familiar with - don’t you try to learn with humility like the way you and your parents did with Western cultures?
My take is, if you are really proud of your heritage you will show cultural humility by trying to learn. Even Westerners, especially the volunteers learn the language and culture and try to be normal, the only thing that gives them away is the colour of their skin and accent. How much more black returnees. Indigenes already face multiply barriers, they don’t need returnees complexes to add to it. Let be humble in our approach and learn from each other and be respectful of our people and culture. Genuinely!!!

I think we all have to be conscious of the language we use because it has repercussions and was one of the subtle things imperialists & colonialists used to erode our identity & ultimately our unity
The Ewe are not a tribe but an ethnic group. Ewe states were highly organised and sophisticated structures. The Ewe number around 3 million and span 3 West African countries. Within the Ewe are subgroups such as the Anloga etc.
Secondly Africans were enslaved and not slaves it might seem trivial but the latter suggests that one was created to be in servitude rather than subjected to it.
The Jamaican coat of arms has the saying out of many one people, no doubt this is true and demonstrated by the various words introduced from the Africans brought over as well as words from the virtually wiped out Tainos? and other people that came to Jamaica.
