    Hi everyone! This will be my 3rd scooter. Started with a Gotrax XR and then stepped up to a Horizon by Fluid Freeride. I'm currently waiting on the Pegasus. Knowing exactly what you want and knowing what you can afford or want to spend are the two questions you need to ask yourself. However, getting those answers will take a little research.
    I always loved bike riding and did a lot of it when I was younger. However, now I'm older with back issues and knees that hate me, I no longer enjoy biking. That and the fact that after working 8 to 10 hours I don't really feel like exercising more. So I decided a scooter could replace my bike and give me the experience that I loved so much before. If you are older I would consider getting a scooter over an ebike but that varies from person to person.
    If you are looking for something like I was, a replacement for having a bike, then skip the entry level scooters unless money is your top deciding factor. You will find yourself wanting further rides, faster speeds and better climbing for hills.
    Here are some of my deciding factors in choosing a Pegasus Scooter.
    1. I like going for long rides and so suspension is necessary for comfort. Remember you will be standing the entire time you ride.
    2. Good brakes are important. Drum brakes or just a single brake often isn't enough on busy roads or long steep hills.
    3. Range is something you will need to figure out for yourself but as for me I often ride 20 miles or more. With a full charge I should be able to do what I planned on riding.
    4. Solid tires. I don't want to spend much time on maintenance as I am relatively busy with little spare time. If I have a couple hours a week I want to ride and not fix things.
    5. Size matters. Lol. To big and it won't fit in my car and to heavy and I'll risk dropping it or hurting myself bringing it up flights of stairs.
    6. Quality. Get what you paid for and feel confident in riding something that puts you at speeds like scooters can.
    That's about it. Remember research and get many opinions, facts and if at all possible a test ride.
    Be safe, be seen and be respectful while riding. 🛴

    Is that front suspension just a metal coil? And it's firmness is adjusted by either tightening or loosening the nuts that compress the spring?

    Lovely machine! I had been looking into scooters, mostly for fun, and could not see any reasonable option in terms of price per range and speed. This one seems the perfect combo, should I decide to get into scooter game. Not too fast, not too slow, priced about right, range about right and stunning looks! Love that suspension! I'm just thinking, once out of power, cannot one just scoot by propelling itself? Would be a nice feature. Probably rather exhausting, but definitely less than carrying it...

      I own a couple of e scooters and I find it difficult to ride them without the motor. There seems to be a lot of friction or drag holding me back. Maybe a scooter with good wheel bearings would be different. Mine are pretty cheap $200-300.

    While $1,199.00 is NOT a crazy sum of money for just $700.00 more you can have a RAD Runner Plus which IMHO is a lot more value and makes a lot more sense but of course it does not have the same level of portability and can not be carried into your office. Other than that I would still go with the bike for safety reasons. Great review as always Micah, thanks : )

      @dr.jamesolack8504 Před 2 lety +2

      Why does he need to disclose that?? Whether it was a gift or not has no bearing on his opinion. He’s not a U.S. senator taking kickbacks from the NRA.

    • @will6246
      @will6246 Před 2 lety +3

      @@dr.jamesolack8504 He WOULD need to disclose that if it were the case, because it's CZcams's policy, put in place to inform viewers when the reviews they watch are sponsored or subsidized in any way and therefore possibly less objective. However, YT does not require you to say when your video is NOT sponsored or gifted in any way, so the fact that he says nothing is enough.
      Since this is a professional news outlet and not just the reviewer's personal channel, you can bet there is a compliance person somewhere in the chain to make sure they don't get banned from CZcams or even just outed by a company insider with a grudge because "Jim" two cubicles over got to keep a nicer scooter than they did. 160K subscribers is a growing revenue stream, not something you'd risk over a $1200 scooter "gift".

      You said a lot. But, WHAT exactly are you trying to say?

    • @Electrek
      @Electrek  Před 2 lety +3

      I did not. Sometimes we do in fact do sponsored videos, but we always declare them

    • @will6246
      @will6246 Před 2 lety

      @@dr.jamesolack8504 Well, in short, I said that you were wrong. I’ll break it down the ways in which you were wrong more simply, if you insist.
      Per CZcams rules, if the content creator gets sponsored or gifted, then they are absolutely required to disclose it. If they are not sponsored or gifted they do not need to say anything at all. Therefore you can infer from the lack of disclosure in the video that it was not sponsored, as confirmed above by Electrek. It wouldn’t be worth it for their outfit to break the rules and take the chance of getting banned from CZcams. The CZcams paycheck scales upwards quite nicely as viewership increases, so a robust and growing channel in a field like electric vehicles, which is expected to explode over the next few years, is potentially worth millions of dollars in revenue. So all this matters.
      The ability to shape law and the ability to shape public opinion might seem dissimilar at first glance, but they are both powerful if wielded with skill. Both can be used to create a windfall for the “gifting” party and CZcams acknowledges this power by putting the disclosure rules in place, in much the same way that there are contribution disclosure requirements for politicians. So the NRA analogy is not as far out of place as you hinted. Any US Senator, or even the highly esteemed Micah Toll of Electrek could do the math in this case and see that it’s best to not accept any scooter or bike-sized gifts without declaring it.

    Not really sure the point of these big longer range not so portable scooters. Its probably better to go with an ebike.

  • @someotherdude
    @someotherdude Před 2 lety +1

    As the most intelligent reviewer on CZcams, I mostly like what I see here. No deal-breaker issues, let's go through some minor things. Given the suspension geometry front and rear, significantly larger diameter wheels should have been used, while making them a bit narrower, just by lengthening the axle links. The front suspension could be turned around 180 degrees to accommodate the larger dia. wheel yet it could still work the same and even preserve the steering offset for stability. The reason for all this is efficiency. This vehicle is really compromised by such tiny wheels and they limit safety and maneuvering ability at the road's edge.
    Bigger wheels by themselves also add stability, and even at 3x diameter, this scooter can still fold the same way. And what about a 'walking mode' where instead of carrying it, you could walk it in front of yourself, pushing the scooter backwards by steering folded forwards. This could serve as a 3rd world wheelbarrow/cargo mover/cart, to carry your pack and heavy/bulky items.
