    As I have commented before, back in the 60's when there were filmed, the poor resolution of tv would have made this a non-visible issue. All that you would be able to make out in that shot was some sort of dark background. But now, with HD tv's and the rescanning of the source films we can now see all of these details. (I actually have 3 episodes, 16mm television prints from the series, including the blank white film used to cue up for commercials. )

      I beleive this is a bit of an exaggeration. While television technology was not what it is to-day, someone viewing a well aligned 21" color television of the era would be able to see a bit of the greenery off to the side. However, by the time the viewer thought something might be off, the scene would change, and they wouldn't see it again, likely brushing it off.

    Anytime the background has oddly parked trucks and / or tarpaulins, it is to cover camera overshoot. More prevalent in later seasons. Klink's office exterior also doubled as his living quarters exterior and VIP quarters with that being on the back side. Lots of floor space for such a small exterior footprint. It is almost as if Klink's building is a TARDIS.

  • @kurtb8474
    @kurtb8474 Před 2 měsíci

    Again, and I've pointed this out many times, the area you're highlighting most likely was covered up by the ''overscan'' area of the TV screens. The overscan area of the screen is where the frame of the unit would cover the portion around the edges of the picture tube. The only way the complete picture would have been seen back in those days is if the picture tube were completely exposed by either pulling it out of the TV or removing the frame around the tube. I've been working in television and video production since the early 90s and, in those days, we had to frame our shooting and editing around the ''safe area'' of the screen. Today, we have flat screen monitors that allow us to see the entire image side-to-side and top-to-bottom, which is great. So, these 'bloopers' you catch that are the edges of the screen were probably never seen on our screens back in the day.

    Hogan's Heroes was one of my favorites back in the day - UNTIL, yes, let me emphasize UNTIL, one of my friends had it playing while I was under the influence of some purple microddot acid (a mild form of LSD). That stuff just ruined the whole show for me, as under the influence of a rather serious psychoactive, I just couldn't fit humor into anything to do with Nazis. I'm not sure if I have seen the show since. But I would hope that after about a half century, I should be able to check it out again. What channel is it playing on now?

      You had the consummate Sixties experience -- LSD and escapist TV sitcoms.

      In that case, probably best not to watch the Get Smart episode: The Groovy Guru.

    Have you done M*A*S*H before? As I had spotted a few mistakes here and there as I been back watching the show. Like Conail Potter. Who showed up in a episode as a different character before they replaced the actor who played Henry at the 4077

      Conail Potter?... and on an earlier comment, someone said Kernel Klink. What is it with trouble typing Colonel today?

    Yeah but the only reason that you can see thit's because you're watching on a much better TV 1960's TV it would have been really blurry You probably wouldn't even be able to see the trees You can't go back and hold 1960s technology against today's technology once again not really a mistake You are just watching on a much better TV

    why try to spoil things for those that loved this show?

      It doesn’t spoil anything haha. You’re funny. The title and thumbnail show there will be something revealed. People who don’t want it spoiled should just watch the show and not watch commentary channels like this one which analyze shows. Nice try though! 👍

    Good pick-up and great show, but it would never have been noticed and even when you know it's there it's so small in the corner, most are watching the actors. If you really want to be literal then yes but otherwise it's not really a mistake or blooper in that it doesn't intrude on the action. Even if they had built the fence around you still wouldn't have noticed it, i.e. you aren't looking at the top right corner, especially not on the original analogue TV's of the time. If a quarter or a third of the screen on the right had been open and no fence fair enough, but not this one. Nonetheless thanks for uploading.
