It’s funny that says she has nothing in common with people her age, yet upon hearing “maybe nobody likes you”; has the same reaction a 20 something year old girl would say when a guy rejects her.

To be fair, she has a terrible relationship with her mother, her father passed away, her brother started dating her best friend, so in turn she feels fully isolated, and to top it off, she is seventeen. I'm 26, have never had a romantic relationship or even sex, im an introvert, I don't really like modern music or most people of my generation and work a dead end job with minimum wage. Okay now give me some tough love and explain how the hell I can improve my worthless existence.
I agree with a lot of what she said; she does lack experience, yes, but she expresses good questions and concerns. She may be looking for support and leadership, if nothing more than for someone to listen.
That's quite sad. Instead of introspection to his statement, she resorts to ridicule, insults, and disrespect. A pathetic example of a generation that has no decorum, grace, dignity, or self-respect. What's laughable is that his statement started with a " maybe ". Such shameful behavior.

Quiet possibly true for many reasons, I've not seen or intend to see this film so cannot say what this scene denotes but girls as they begin to move into adulthood will look for older, wiser, wealthier, experienced and bigger men to fill the lack of a father or just to sate the hypergamy program built into womens DNA. This girl likes him but cannot yet understand why....?
She isn’t. It’s a good movie. He actually is married to a wonderful woman and he becomes a mentor to this girl but in the way she needs. She is kind of self righteous and an asshole and he calls her out on it with no punches pulled. He also is there to help her out when she has nobody else to turn to
What's her problem her insecurities are her own problems who cares of anyone likes you. As long as you like yourself be comfortable in who you are. Actions of an insecure person.
The problem is that she is too mean spirited. And she feels like she's better than others for not engaging with modern pleasures. If someone is having fun posting their tacos and emojis then good for them. It's not hurting anybody and she finds such offense in the harmless things ppl enjoy. No wonder she cant connect with anyone. They wont be able to stand her negativity
Hailey is one of this generations best actresses. Her part in the True Grit remake was flawless. Too bad theyre not giving her any substantial parts. I believe she is like the portrayal in this scene. No liberal enough for Hollyweird and theyre possibly trying to stifle her because of that.
