    Played the demo on Sunday and just stunning. The little animations in the background. The super smooth animation on the main character and beautiful back drops as well
    Liked how, on the train level the view out the window changes ,rather than just a looping one
    To top it off played great too , just shows what the amiga could do even on the stock a500 , cant wait to buy the full game and support the devs

    I don't think it's the amiga that struggles with games like these, it's more like that back then, money for development was more poured towards SNES and Mega Drive, hence they were more feature rich. Nowadays on the other hand, passionate people can work on stuff like this and not be bothered by budget constraints, and work on it as a hobby, taking all the time they need.

      @eijentwun5509 Před měsícem

      There is NO BeatEmUp on a Plain ECS Amiga that has Achieved what ElfMania has....it shows FULL Sreet FIghter II is capable. US GOLD are just pathetic programmers. What Elmania needs is Faster Loading..a Better more Arcade like Character selection screen...and better Sound Effects for the Hits. They should make ElfMania 2 with all these Changes. Actually Fightin Spirit comes kind of close but the backgrounds are too brightly colored and not many parallax effects including the floor like ElfMania.

    • @dyscotopia
      @dyscotopia Před měsícem +1

      @@eijentwun5509the team that built Elfmania are too busy making AAA games for PC and modern consoles to bother with the Amiga. Control is a crowning achievement of video game art.
      The tech was incredible, but I agree the gameplay was disappointing and while I'm fine with elves, the character design was .. Questionable. Pixel art was good but the actual characters pretty silly... I always find it funny that there are die-hard defenders of that game.
      It was rare that playability and technical expertise converged on the Amiga

    The Game looks great and good use of Color for the limited color it is using. If I could change this game, I would make the Characters Bigger like in FInal Fight....use at least a 64 color palette, require 4mb RAM and make the game Arcade quality standard Overscan video and eliminate the Score ontop taking away precious pixels...they would float and overlap over the game. ( I think every game should be made as though it will be put into an arcade cabinet with a CRT tv) I would also change the female character's clothes as she looks liek she belongs in Strider or something. Scorpion Engine probably still has limits.......Metro Siege 2 maybe in the future? This game moves and fights well

      @litjellyfish Před měsícem +3

      @@GadgetUK164better toolchain for sure. More knowledge. And general more game dev knowledge. And art direction.
      Honestly I don’t see anything particularly impressive tech wise.
      It’s a 32 color scrolling level where the story levels means they all can lie in memory + scrolling takes no performance.
      The. We have a background parallel layer made up of 2-4 x repeated sprites = a copper list setup = taking almost no performance.
      And then we have the characters and some background animation. All made with a tile based system it seems. Running around 16fps (background anima can run even less)
      So nothing the Amiga should not be able to handle. I mean I think this could even be optimized further to run 25fps
      What really impress me is the smart tech art. System to reuse graphics to build up players = more moves in such a memory restricted environment
      And smart copper color use all over it seems. Honestly I am still not sure if this runs 32 or it might even be as low as 16 colors due to the smart background cooler colors.
      So for me it’s a testament to good design working along with tech while stil not restricting gameplay
