Lucio seemed to be misunderstood by many people. Yesterday I watched Dario Argento talking about him. The more tragedies he suffered the more brutal became his movies. I hope he has found his eternal peace!
Fulci has inspired me for years. I thought the beyond was so and so the first time I saw it, but when I sat alone in the living room watching it I could really get into the surreal isolated characteristic of the movie. The true italian vibe that is mostly gone now. Fulci had that in The Beyond and to some degree Zombie Flesheaters. It is like these directors were made for analogue movie equipment. I guess that I wouldn´t be so hooked on using slightly distrorted synth-choirs in alot of music I make without Fulcis movies bringing me Frizzi´s ghastly and to me kindof sad compositions. Fulci was a progressive director and Frizzi is a very progressive composer.
Mm. These interviews are fantastic. It's interesting how these women describe him with such understanding and respect. They recognize the depth in his vision. And you can tell they enjoyed working with him
I guess this interview was made 20 years ago or so. Catriona McCall is 66 now and Cinzia Monreale 63. They're still looking good but of course they're quite mature. Cinzia's latest movie is a horror picture released last year: czcams.com/video/yh_mZWpG8uQ/video.html
Molto interesante. I feel torn here. I hear those closest to him professionally talk about how he deserved better, but I also instinctively feel that may have been the fire within him that made him produce such unique and phenomenal work. He had to fashion great movies with the resources available. Maybe if things had been 'easier' we may not have seen the Fulci we know and love. However, it would perhaps have been cool to see what he could've done with a bigger production.
"A Proud Communist" who benefitted financially from a Capitalist System? Italy is primarily a free market, capitalist country with a few common economy elements remaining from its history. The political system allows for private ownership, and the private sector controls much of the resources and the means of production. So the MILLIONS he made in the industry do not seem to be good evidence that he was 'Communist" at all. In addition to that, I can't think of a single "communist country" that would allow ANY of what he has made as art in his entire career. So I basically have no idea what he can be talking about when he says that he is a communist. What he does is the literal antithesis of what any communist regime on earth would ever allow.
@@nopasaran3561 not what ive read. he was in his youth, but my understanding is he remained a leftist but most of all catholic. but he was a brilliant artist regardless of how confused politically.
He was pure genius and seemed like a true artist

whats the link where dario talks about fulci?
it's kind of like Dan O'Bannon: if he was fat, he was fed well and doing well... if he was skinny, he was on tough times.
My first real horror movie experience was The Beyond. A fine intro to Fulci's work.

The Beyond is a great movie- creepy, atmospheric and disturbing. I saw an interview with Dario Argento and he recommended it.
the beyond. the best horror movie ever made.
Fulci's horror masterpiece.
The greatest Zombie movie only topped by Night Of The Living Dead
@@mortyrod7943 imo not really a zombie movie

Fulci, a proud communist and true artist, with a tragic life, he deserved more in life but hope he found peace at least. :(

@@Valkonnen What 🤣 what would not be allowed, are you delusional
@@nopasaran3561 i think you're the communist, not Fulci
@@itnaklipse1669 Everyone who knew Fulci knows he was his whole life a proud communist. His shallow acquintances also knew this.
