  • * In this video interview with Italian horror director Lucio Fulci, also called as "The Godfather of Gore".
He speaks Italian, and his assistant Loris Curci, the author of "Shock Masters of the Cinema" helps Fulci to speak English to you. Also appearing David Warbeck (The Beyond, The Black Cat). When the interview is finished, then at last it appears the actress Catriona MacColl (The Gates of Hell, The Beyond, The House by the Cemetery), she talks about her movie career. Besides there is little talking with public guards. This interview was believed that took place in London, according to the book "Beyond the Gates".
The picture itself has a low vhs-like quality. It seemed like that the cameraman shooted it with a vhs-handcamera.
    The films that talks about:
    - "Massacre Time"
    - "Four of the Apocalypse"
    - "Silver Saddle" (Sella d'argento)
    - "Zombie" (Zombi 2 / Zombie Flesh Eaters)
    - "The Beyond" (7 Doors of Death)
    - "The New York Ripper"
    - "A Cat in the Brain" (Nightmare Concert / Un gatto in cervello)
    - "Door Into Silence" (available on DVD from distributor Severin Films)
    - "Reservoir Dogs"
    - "Frankenstein" (1994)
    - "Pulp Fiction"
    - "The Wax Mask" (Maschera di cera)
Read the published FANGORIA preview, these seven pages were 62-67, 82, written by Howard Berger.

Most people don’t realize that Fulci made his horror films as nightmares. This is why they’re so violent (as in a nightmare) and sexual (as in a dream and he’s also Italian after all, LOL). He was an intelligent man with a quick mind willing to go anywhere where many directors would not go. Many think he was a hack. I think had he had big budgets and toned down his gore and sex, he would have been a famous main stream director. RIP Lucio.

He talks about a movie 'The wax mask' (at first should have been a remake of 'The mummy') who should have directed himself and produced by Dario Argento but unfortunately they never realized it. Has been directed by Sergio Stivaletti after Fulci's death.

I find it fascinating that the Italians Copy what the Americans are doing, yet they do a much better job. Even the Westerns of Sergio Leone, who like Fulci, spoke very little English made Westerns in Spain with an Italian crew and they were more realistic than American Westerns.

Lucio Fulci , Dario Argento , Tom Savini , George Romero are the Gods of horror and suspence. If they didnt make the movie , its not much interest to me.

    • @giofre
      @giofre  Před 3 lety +1

Lucio Fulci is still the best - number one than Dario. But Dario for me - he isn't making a single movie anymore - what a loser. His daughter Asia is a BIG shame. Tom Savini is announcing for directing a new film "Nightmare City" but it still delays long enough - six years has gone. George A. Romero is clearly better than Tobe Hooper. Any thoughts?

@@alexandert7144 Japanese director Takashi Miike, he did a lot of nasty stuff in almost all of his movies it's extreme. But Ringu is a good Japanese scary. Do you like Japanese horror? For the other hand, I don't think that the new Nightmare City is going to be a good film, Tom Savini is going to fail. Zombies run faster what a joke.
