- It was in 1971 that Jim Morrison reached the summit! With 6 years of intensive career, 6 albums and 200 concerts, nothing seemed to stop the emblematic figure of the Doors.
And yet, the man we called the Dionysus of rock met a tragic end. Illustrated by numerous testimonies and archive images, we return with this report on the last days of this rock icon, consumed by the torments of a star's life.
Director: Michaëlle Gagnet - Zábava
He was such a beautiful man. And had so much talent. What a tragedy.
A tad overweight.
This is the best and most complete documentary of what were the last months and days of Jim Morrison.
I agree with you.
I agree also. More details which look to be true! Other videos dance around the issue.
He died very similar to River Pheniox at the Viper
The most intelligent film about Jim Morrison yet. Thank you.
It seems old. Any idea when this was made?
You’re probably right, but I’ve no idea when it was made. I would still like to see a more definitive and rounded documentary about JM, but this comes close, even if it is only about the last days….

@@johnsmith-wk2tbmy guess mid 1990s? Most of his contemporaries look to be in their 50s
Had a really big poster of him in my bedroom. Im 72 and still have such memories of my life then with the Doors.
Me tooooo. ❤😢
From the U.K. always remember arriving in the states in my early 20s on my first outings in California, downtown riverside. Never forget putting L.A woman on a jukebox in a dive bar, such a great feeling hearing it kick in with the base line. 😀🍺🙏 magical 😜
Break on through to the other side, yeah..
Then and now, for me.
I think every college student in that time had the same poster.
My car, which had a broken radio for years, suddenly came to life as I was driving into Limon, Colorado. The radio was playing "Riders on tbe Storm". It was quite magical as I love the Doors. I did not realize the significance the song had for the band until now.
We were driving to Vegas from South Dakota when we nearly got caught in a Tornado. That song came on and is a very vivid memory of mine.
Morrison was a complete bullshit artist.
Immer unvergessen! Jim ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Riders on the Storm is the perfect song for the drive to Limon.
I can hear every note in my head.
I saw the doors in concert in Los Angeles and they were wonderful. Jim was beautiful. His voice was amazing. RIP JIM
A beautiful man, a beautiful voice. Sad.
Very very well done documentary. To hear the stories from John and Bill Siddons, plus, all the accounts of the various Parisians that were present during Jim's time in Paris really hammer down what might have truly happened with 'ol Jim. He never stood a chance of getting out there alive, unfortunately. Touching to see those photos of his ma and pa at his grave in '91. Sad but such is life. He lived it!
Yeah but what a macabre verse did his parents choose for his grave? „faithful to his demons“, even if it’s true, i wouldn’t want that in the store for any of my loved ones
Which Persians? I don't recall any Persians.
@@8saltman Meant to say Parisians. Corrected.
@@Petra-R Jim's father was the one who chose that quote for which the "usual" translation is 'True to his own spirit'. I'd bet he was aiming for that.
Stupendo documentario su Jim❤grazie ❤️ 💗
The first time I saw Jim Morrison in leather pants was at Steve Paul’s ‘The Scene’ in NYC. Quite memorable in a small west side club in midtown.
Is that during the trip to The Factory? Poor Jim!
A unique talent, creative genius, rebellious spirit, deep poetic soul and individual mystery. Popularity, money, fame was never his game. RIP JIM,RIDER OF THE STORM.
Muchas gracias !!

I was into art from college and painted a large mural on canvas of Jim; I got compliments on how realistic it was, him looking into the audience as if he was on stage, non smiling, just deadpan. Later I moved away and left the painting in my parent's basement. I never saw it again and never asked about it. This was before his death and around 1970. I wish I had taken it with me.
I bought that at your parents yard sale 5 bucks
Mental illness strike the wealthy and artistic just as hard or harder than any. I always felt Mr. Morrison was on a different plane than the rest of us. As a lukewarm fan in my teens I never appreciated his music as much as I do now. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 36. It was sad when he passed away far too young; but his struggles were over and he is now at peace. 🌹
Seeing all the comments in different languages from all age groups shows you what an icon Jim Morrison was, immortal
Excelente documental. Gracias...
In 1998 I went to Pere Lachaise on a rainy day, weak from food poisoning the night before. The Morrison family had had Jim's actual body moved to an anonymous tomb but I wanted to see the place of pilgrimage. I couldn't find it. Pere Lachaise is a virtual city of the dead. I wandered around, unable to sit down for the puddles of water. Exhausted, leaning against a tomb, I looked up to see between my outstretched fingers a graffito: "Where the f*ck ARE you, Jim?"..... Eventually I found it. There was nothing left of all the tokens left by adulation, the statues and flowers, nothing but a puddle of water with a cigarette butt floating in it. He lives in his legacy. Thanks for this excellent documentary.
I went there in 1993 and the tomb was still there, with the statue and various trinkets. I didn’t know that five years later it no longer existed.
The way it should be!
When I visited his grave my impression was all over graffiti on his tombstone. He was greatly loved forever.
Rubbish
I visited his grave in Pere Lachaise in 1991 and it was the saddest thing ever - unkempt, grafitti everywhere with just empty beer bottles and rubbish lying around. It gave the impression that no one loved him 😢 It was in total contrast to Edith Piaf’s grave which was beautiful, immaculate and covered in fresh flowers and beautiful red roses but then she was a French national treasure and also a parisienne🤷♀️
I’ve been to his grave…..it’s very well visited..memorabilia everywhere….
This doc was exquisitely stitched.
🦎Long live The Lizard King!👑
He was 27 years young when he rode out of earth, a mere child by today's standards. Yet, he had lived many lives by then. Many , many lives..
Correct. He returned to the massive primordial chaotic powers to which he belonged.
Magnífico documental.
I'm a huge fan of Morrison, so much so Ive stayed in his old motel room, added to the memories on the wall, hit all his old stomping grounds in L.A and got his autograph tattooed on me. I liked the doors ofcourse but I love Jim more.
❤
Beautiful ❤️
Super!
Great doc. ❤
Best documentary on Jim Morrison’s death. He had an obvious gastrointestinal bleed (very bad) which probably kicked off from liver failure/cirrhosis. Alcoholism can tear you up & spit you out, same as drugs.
Alcohol, aka ethanol, is a very dangerous depressant “drug” that is sadly “glorified” in society.
Γιατί τον φάγανε;
Those multiple falls certainly contributed.
Well, alcohol aka ethanol is a “drug” and is legal and its drinking usage is practically “gloried” in society; tis sad all the way around.
I Agree with you.
MERAVIGLIOSA. Grazie !!❤❤❤
What a fascinating guy in such a fascinating time.
I’m fascinated with Jim/The Doors. 1960s is an era that intrigues yet absolutely terrifies me for some inexplicable reason.
💯
I remember Jim growing up in Melbourne Florida he lived right around the corner from me..His Dad was very strict hardcore military..He went over to his grandmother's back and forth back and forth his Dad hated his long hair he wanted him to join the military..Very intelligent kid..Before leaving Florida he was born and raised in Melbourne Florida he should have been buried in Melbourne Florida..RIP-Jim..🎼🎶🎤🎙🎚
Great doc! I heard recently that his first love Mary Werbelow had passed away in 2022 or 2023.
amazing I haven't seen anything better thank you rest in peace Jim
As Jim would have wanted, I remember him as much a poet as a great singer. I like all The Doors albums, but the ones where Jim shone the most were Strange Days and Waiting for the Sun. His soulful voice and alluring lyrics cannot be resisted. "When the summer's gone, where will we be?"
Maybe, but he developed a great gift for syncopated staccato rhythms with his vocal delivery on LA Woman and on his live version on Who do you Love in particular
Jim forever❤
Hell yeah.
Ottimo documentario, bello!
Amazing documentary
I grew up listening to the doors. I got hooked on their music when I was about 10. This is definitely the best documentary I’ve seen. Now it makes sense about his death. The person who touched the bath water and said it was warm. Warm water had to be added before people arrived because Pamela said that she saw him in the tub at night before she went to bed. The water should’ve been cold in the morning.i believe he was taken from the nightclub, back into his apartment. The club was scared of being closed down. And the dealers were shitting bricks. Jim was in poor health but listening to what other eyewitnesses have said. An autopsy should’ve been performed. I know some people will say,it doesn’t matter now. Well it matters because it’s not just a documentary. Listening to my favorite band and reading Jim’s poetry. Gives me a better idea on what really happen. R.I.P Ray And Jim.

Powerful, creative, joyous and free.
Let's Celebrate the lizard. I am 68 yo and always listen all his songs wit emotion.
Love his music his voice it's such a shame he was a slave to his demons. Too much too young. A common phenomena in the rock n roll industry in the 70s.
Ainda bem eu nasci 76 deu tempo pega os grandes sucesso ele sempre será o fenômeno musical viva Rock 😎
Rest in peace Jim...
He lived a young man's dream. A dreamer and realiser of his dreams. Rock icon. Seducer. Lucifer. Medusa. A dream realised and abandoned, a dream transcended. An Icarus who crashed into the sea. Awkward instant. Horse Latitudes. But this centaur still haunts our skies.
I was at his grave in 76 when I made my first trip to Paris at the age of 20. My favorite till today is "Alabama Song". But I love too "Riders On The Storm" and "When The Music's Over"! He was a Genius! Outstanding documentary!❤
th other Doors were just as much, if not more responsible for the musical successes of the band.
I think it is so sad that for all of Jim Morrison's fame and money and so-called friends, no one really cared about him.
Exactly!
Like Amy Winehouse. None of them had anyone really caring for them around
I did.
You have to care for yourself ultimately
Seems to be the same almost every time with everyone who goes like this.
Fantastic piece!!!Thanks.
Descanse em paz Jim Morrison.
Legyen könnyű az álmod!Béke veled Morisson❤😢
Ótimo Documentário parabéns!
There is a no question this man exhausted himself to death and his heart couldn’t take it anymore
That's what they want you to think. He had his drug and rock n roll period but was so over that. He wasn't even doing drugs when he was killed and was really into jazz not rock n roll.
@@BarryLomax-by6nw he burned himself out, his body needed total recovery; I don't him personally or what you are trying to say but as a cardiac nurse, the heart literally can't take all the crap he went through with drugs and lack of sleep, maybe not eating well. plus emotional stress with his parents, and vocal demands takes a mental and physical toll.

Excelente documental.
Rest in peace, great man! Eternal memory to you, Jim! Thanks to the authors of the channel for interesting facts. 🙏🙏🙏
I first heard the Doors, break on through, when I was 18. It changed my life. Their story fascinated me for years. Shadows in the trees, witnessing the Wild breeze, come on baby run with me...
Beautiful boy young man dieing at 27 IV got a daughter that age so young and so very sad Jim Morrison I'm 54 years old I love your music so much beautiful beautiful man gone why to soon love you Jim your music will be alive for ever
Jim Morrison, the lizard king. Pure magic.
Love the Doors ❤ music !
So totally aweful that no one in his family were advised of his death. Where was his family...just so sad all around!
So he was in the water all night..found dead at 6... "rescued" at 9h20... and the water was warm... that all makes sens...
It was July in Paris with no air conditioning and a body that was still likely warmer than room temperature. So water could easily be 80 degrees F.
I had exactly the same thought. Even in a hot summer in the south of Spain, after 3 hours the water would be cold or less than tepid. I was waiting for a slip up like this. 27:00 (he got in the bath at 3am(ish) and was visited by the emergency team at nine thirty, around 6 hours later.) Hmmm
Said at the 27 min mark....same as his age of death.

He’s not there my love.

I am Pamela Courson incarnate; we're kindred souls, or maybe it's Jim within me.. the resonance w these two is too strong to deny.
I was born just a short time before they both died - our souls mingled & fragments intertwined. I have always felt her soul | spirit & have had an intimate passionate interest in Jim Morrison.. & his Muse.
Long Live the Lizard King 👑
I did visit his grave 🪦 in 2019... It was surreal. I didn't do my research to learn where Pam is buried.
Morrison is almost as big today as he was before he stopped performing & recording !!
he certainly left his mark!
I was 15 when he died and already owned a couple of their albums
In 1971 I was 8 ...I had heard the Doors..My dad always had our local A.M. radio station WBAL in Baltimore, on before work...They played a little of everything.. For A.M. radio they were pretty progressive...I knew the name Jim Morrison.. everytime they played their records it was "Jim Morrison and the Doors" I vaguley remember hearing about his death... he outlived his era by 2 years.
He was a great singer. May he rest in peace...As he visited Morocco. He found him self. really. Unfortunately he didn't make it to stay alive.
❤ Jim l love you
