When the ball is downed close to a first down the White Hat Ref will call for the chains to come out on to the field to measure where the ball is. The orange marker will be used to adjust the chains to the correct spot on the field.
My crew uses blue bean bags to make fumble spots. Some crews use different colors. The back judge carries more than one bean bag and will sometimes use an orange bean bag.
In Texas we can only use white or black bean bags.
