Yeah, but being a lawyer or a doctor is a more stable job. Fans, coaches, and leagues officials believe they are better off making more money and getting more security in the NFL so that they can work full time just officiating football. Just having these guys flown in for a Sunday football game after a week at the doctor's office is a joke. They should be studying film and trying to become better referees during the work week. They shouldn't be lawyers. The only way to do that is to pay them so much and provide them job security to where they have zero reason to have a 2nd job.

Sometimes the refs refer to the “white team” meaning the team in white top. But i prefer to believe the implied racial designation for the humor.

Yes, there are penalties in the Pro Bowl. There are multiple penalties on the play. Penalty on the offense, the white guy giving him the business down there. Penalty of the everybody but the center because only the center was stretching the balls with us.

Yep. I think the refs were taking the K-balls out of the game (notice the sideline official wearing an orange K on his vest instead of an X) and throwing in one of the dozen footballs that the quarterback for the offense rubs down two hours before the game.
If I was at that game, I would have shouted out "That's what she said!"

It reminds me how I deal with 2nd graders. "Hey, I need everyone to be quiet so I can give you instructions." Some kids keep talking. "Ok, if everyone can't be quiet, everyone is going to lose recess." All the kids being quiet start shouting for the other kids to stop talking.
Ed Hochuli was the gift that kept giving when he was an active ref. I always thought he was brilliant. And the guy had guns even into his late 60s. Hopefully his son can pick up where he left off.

There was one NFL game in the late 90s where the referee made his call something like "Holding on the defense, number 89. You can't do that!" It was always my dad's favorite call, and we would add that to at least one penalty every time we would watch games together.
