I have been sick for a few weeks and on my day off, I binged a bunch of Studio Ghibli movies. Grave of the Fireflies was the most depressing movie I have ever seen.
But Porco Rosso was hilarious! And Whispers of the Heart was so cute because I am OBSESSED with The Baron and it was neat seeing where he started.
Being a beginner is something I’ve been having to work through lately. It’s tough to remember that it’s ok to be a beginner. Never I have felt like such a baby artist than when I’m studying the fundamentals 😂
I’m working on a Valentine’s Day painting as well as sketching out ideas for my narnia series! Thinking of doing a narnia scene request on my IG to get people more interest in it 🧐

if you haven't already for Anatomy & getting a better feel for landscapes, movement, etc I use quick poses & do times practice for warmups before I start sketching or in tandem with it!

My first Ghibli movie (that I watched the whole way through) was also Spirited Away which I saw in the theater, and I found it so beautiful that I wept for a half hour after it ended, which my parents and sister were embarrassed by when we went out to eat, and they insist I must have been PMSing, but I don’t think I was and I don’t care that I cried. No other media has gotten that reaction out of me before or since; I’ve cried out of sorrow or anger at a movie or whatever, but never out of awestruck wonder.
I COMPLETELY understand the tears over Spirited Away! It still makes me a little teary-eyed after all these years. 💛
This is so beautifully painted. Love the colors. I'm a fan of Ghibli as well and it has inspired a lot of my landscape and foliage in my work. I even use a set of ghibli inspired photoshop brushes

Creative things I´m working on? Commissions and a new draw with me that is also a bit of a vlog...I guess. it is about my experience of selling at a Comic Con for the first time in my life. Will probably a long video. 😅 I had a lot to say. But I dont care about video lenght so much.

@@allisonaletha Yeah, I hope it will be 😅 i am curently done with the ededing of the voice over and oh boy, do i hate my line delivery at some parts. my acsent showed throw more often than usual as well, but it is such a long ass script that I dont want to do it again XD Well, i will see what my viewers think of it. they are usaly pretty kind ^^
Oh wow I see you are using the special ghibli paint, I've been considering getting it, do you like it better than the windsor and newton designer gouache? Or is it about the same?
I absolutely LOVE it!! I think both W&N and the Nicker Poster Colors are wonderful. W&N definitely is more archival, but that's not a huge concern for me.
