  • It's hot. It's dry. And deer season is coming on fast. Looking for a cool, easy project to improve the area you hunt? Make your own water hole. Antler Geeks' Tony Hansen shows you how to get it done.

Great idea! Don't forget to put a stick and a few rocks in, just in case a small mammal falls in it and can get out and doesn't die and sit in the water. You definitely don't want that.

Tony any key changes or modifications you would do to your watering hole after several seasons of observation.

Mature bucks prefer these stagnant water holes especially during the rut when it’s cold! They can’t hear of something’s approaching them if they’re by a river or creek. They get most and I mean like 85 percent of theirs water from the greenery they eat.

What's wrong with it? Deer need water, and not every property has a stream, river, or pond on it. The idea is to keep the deer on your property.
