    I observe that there are some etiquettes that are informal when serving beverages even food to the guests/passengers especially those airlines that provides 5 star dining experience. First of all, when holding a glass or cup, never hold them on or near the the rim, always hold by the base/stem. Because aside from preventing on leaving your fingerprints on the glass, the rim is what we call as the "guest area" (where the guest sip the drink). And when serving food, many fine dining restaurants, be land based or even onboard cruise, practices the open hand service method, which means that a server's arms are never to be crossed infront of the guest. I know that serving should be done on the left side of the guest so you'll have to use your left hand, but if there's no such protocol that the company wants you to follow, just be practical. Imagine, a guest/passenger is sitting on the left aisle/side and a server/fa standing on the right and serve using his/her left arm/hand, wouldn't that look awkward. I apologize for a long comment. As an employee for more than 4yrs (more than 2yrs in fine dining res and 2yrs and counting in cruiseship), I'm only giving my opinion on what I observe about the airlines service style. Thank you for reading 😊

    Isn't the clean cup on top of the cup that the passenger returned to you for collection originally the cup that was supposed to remain as a server from the first round? The one that was not supposed to be used? Also...so lovely to hear the clinking cups, as other airlines often serve in plastic.

    • @CabinCrewExcellence
      @CabinCrewExcellence  Před 7 lety +3

      Hi and thank you for watching 💝 We love the clicking sound too, and the entire protocol actually. You are correct, the clean (server) cup always stays on top and all used cups collected (after the first round was completed) go underneath. The only time a used cup goes on top of the server cup during second round of Arabic coffee is if the passenger returning the cup wishes to have a second round of coffee. 😉

  • @Emforever123
    @Emforever123 Před 6 lety +1

    As an Arab, I authenticate this!
    3 servings are the usual, asking or expecting a fourth is harshly frowned upon.
    If whenever you are done or wish not have any more just empty it and wiggle the cup or cover the top with your fingers,hand it over and thank the service.
    NEVER serve with your left, and NEVER receive with your left, can be taken as an insult by some.

    • @EridanusYT
      @EridanusYT Před 5 lety +1

      in arabic countries (i'm from saudi arabia) we do this for every guest or for any ceremony.
      olus when i do it for some one older than me and i should respect like father, mother, uncles u get the idea
      but in case it was me alone or friends or like u feel free to drop this custom way u could just pour it like anyone would do it whatever makes u comfortable.
      but for most time if the other person you don't know or you could drop the custom will feel disrespect if you pour it like when you do it in other way or in wrong
      by wrong i mean filling the cub which means drink this and i'm not offering you anymore and get out or by extending the cub with the left arm.
      before the late years like for hundred of years when people were living the simple life if a guest come to you and you offer the coffee then he takes it and put it on the ground
      hins back then people sit on the ground and make it obvious or say i won't drink it it means he's coming for a favour or asking to be rescued then the older guy would tell him
      drink your coffee it means whatever you ask or came for it shall be done and it has to be done cause it's an honor thing and till this day it happens for example:
      if some guy wanna go ask the hand of someone's daughter to marry her him self or his son usually the guy who came to ask to marry the girl or some older figure will do that
      thus in a way saying i won't drink it till u grant us what we came for then he asks to marry the girl or ask for his son to marry the other man daughter then the bride father says drink it
      and i shall ask the bride for her approval or when you want someone to forgive you.. you do the same you put it on the table or ground in case u were setting there then say
      i came to ask you this favour to grant me or i won't drink it till u grant me this favour it considered a big deal cause you can't for most time say no to the guest when he does that
      so people don't do it except when it comes to really important and urgent matters.

    Airlines are so bad they forget arab hospitality
    They only serve their coffee only to people who paid for first class
    This is insulting
    Coffee should be for all guests and never paid for if the airlines carries any Arab link or Arab name
    Please serve fresh cups for seconds too
    The spits will touch your finger and you are likely to cross contaminate many cups and other passengers

      It's called etiquette. That's how we serve coffee to our guests. When guests visit usually the son (or sons) will do the exact same things explained in the video to every guest (hundreds of them in case of an event like death of someone or marriage etc). The same thing in the women side the daughter or a female family member to the female guests. They usually stand for hours if there're many guests lol.
      After that comes the meal, the host has to give dinner to all of his guests and lastly the sweets buffet (sweets only in case of marriage or an event with large number of guests excluding death)
      Though these traditions are only in Bedouin culture Arabian countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE & Kuwait where generosity to guests and hospitality is an essential part of the culture.

    • @baibac6065
      @baibac6065 Před 5 lety

      Dates and coffee are like milk & chocolate always served together. Though we usually eat Twix with coffee if we just make it for ourselves or for the family.
