Omg??? As a server for so many years in So Many different styles of food service.....there is NO ONE WAY. As a dam great server... full service and Banquet styles. If you TRULY want to Hone your skills (as a young person) get involved with several staffing companies. On site and off site. AND... be available for all the different events. As well as monetarily. Big money. And budget size. Hands on IS THE ONLY WAY. As the experienced professional say.... get wet. Sink or swim. Videos are great and all. But i learned by OTJT. the number one thing to know is this. There is NO ONE WAY. as we all know. To skin a cat... Lol. What does the customer want. Ive done white glove and synchronized service. Or the client. OR the business owner. And ....SMILE
Please ensure to not cross arm across guest when placing down desert cutlery. So please walk around guest to place fork down for dessert. Crossing guest is wrong. Also all service needs to be done from the right hand side and not the left when placing plates. Only use left hand side when serving onto guest plate.
Thank you for this! I am an events coordinator and banquet captain for a restaurant that has elevated this year and am trying to elevate my skills and knowledge also. I am wondering when serving a banquet where the people are dining, listening to a lecturer with a slide show, what is the proper serving etiquette for clearing and refilling drinks? It seems so rude to me to stand in front of a row of people behind me to clear when there is a row of people behind me trying to pay attention. Or, is there really no way around this and I just have to move quickly? Is there any advice you can give me when presenters and presentations on screen are being shown about when to appropriately do these things? Thank you in advance.
I really appreciate this video and information (a lot of it new), however I will agree with someone who said it previously.. You have it backwards. You serve on the right and clear from the left.
Hello Team, I enjoyed the video. I have a question for you guys, and I'd be grateful if you could answer it. In my restaurant, tables are set in the British style, with the dessert spoon placed above the dinner plate. Is it necessary to open the cover for the dessert course by sliding the dessert spoon (Bringing It Down) to the right of the dinner plate when serving a dessert, or can I simply leave the spoon above the dinner plate? I don't think I need to slide the spoon because this is how cutlery for dessert is arranged in a british-style table setting, and there is no need to open the cover for dessert.
@@j.walker6845 Errr yeah, and Pluto was once considered a planet. I dunno what that has to do with this video, but it's about as relevant as Frisco once being a part of Mexico?? 🙄🙄

I would not remove the bread plate and fork from the right. If a guest were sitting there, you'd be crossing in front of them. Same for pulling down the dessert fork.
Very refreshing to see we STILL have etiquette. To bad about 90%+ of restaurant servers aren't trained properly, but yet expect a automatic gratuity. Restaurantuers time to get back to "old school" service, believe it or not, your clientele will notice & appreciate.
Hello! I'm a film editor and am doing a fun project where I redo people's training videos to see if I could make it better. I've been editing training videos for 6 years now and love the art of it. Would it be okay if I take a stab at this one? This one would be fun. Thanks!
this was very helpful however ive been told the opposite when picking up/serving plates. you drop off food with your right and take with your left. idk
It depend, man. As SOP, we must serve from right side. But in kinda situations, there's inconvenient to server from that side, especially for left-handed person.

yes in Britain they are not moved by the waiter/ress, the guests pick them up; this video must be showing an American tradition

I’ was told the protein or main dish goes in the front and the sides go on top of the plate. You guys put it different?

Um, for the dessert silverware the fork is turned incorrectly it should be turned the opposite way, same as for the spoon. Thanks!

balance the bottle so you do not spill a lot of wine when pouring , doing so you wont splash a single drop.Wine pourers help even more.

Beethoven Kreutzer Sonata
knife pickup was a true cliffhanger 😅
this was very helpful however ive been told the opposite when picking up/serving plates. you drop off food with your right and take with your left. idk
That's how u supose to do,drop on a right side, take it on the left
I agree with that i think they made a mistake with that tip.
serving on the left is an American thing
Only when the guest in front of you😂
U said serve from the left side then why u serve coffe from ryt side ..always srve from ryt side nd remove from lift side
U have to clear plates from left side and serve from the right side you make that wrong
Thats correct

Incorrect wine pouring. Hold the bottle at the base
Our local Red Lobster could learn alot from this video . Perhaps it could even inspire them to remove the revolving door from their service entrance .
Is it work on American service?
yes
