Larry Janesky and his son Tanner team up to face the challenge of a lifetime: one thousand miles of unforgiving landscape in the Baja 1000 - the longest non-stop race in the world.
Two men, one bike, 25+ hours of relentless battle against fatigue, sleep deprivation, and the elements. The conditions of this competition are so harsh that only half of the teams ever make it to the finish.
This is their first time racing the Baja 1000. Could they finish, or even win?

I want to be a father who does amazing things with his son or daughter. I never even met my dad so I don’t actually know how to be one, but I know I will be a great father.
This is the Best Video that I have ever seen on CZcams. I was an A Class racer and retired when my son was born. 17 years later we bought 2 dirt bikes. He was good. However a freak accident broke his right femur in 7 pieces. he was going about as about a slow walking speed. I tried to keep riding but a stroke took the wind from my sail. I have enjoyed this video of a Father and a son. It reminded my of my son and I. good work.
He'll get it dude, you both are amazing
Also exist Dust to Glory and other films like this one, also excelent films.
idk i fell asleep and woke up to this movie and i must say ive never been more happy with youtube to recomend this to me. such a amazing show
This movie always gives me goosebumps its so inspiring and touching, it has everything a great adventure should have. The highs, the lows and the victory. Amazing movie
Let’s get you ready to race 🏁
What an awesome and amazing movie! Having ridden 3500 miles in Baja California, l can relate to a lot of the different types of terrain and obstacles along the way. If someone would've told me the coldest l'd ever be in my life would be in Mexico I'd never believe them. From the moment we left San Diego to head south of the border, it was a drizzling rain. Four hours later, l was shivering so bad l was having classic symptoms of hypothermia. I had no idea that while riding across the mountain range the temperature dropped to 38 degrees from 68 earlier in the day. Thankfully one of the other riders let me use his heated jacket for two hours to warm my body temperature up.
Why did the movie only last 5 minutes ? Didn't realize how 1 hour 27 minutes and 6 seconds passed.Enjoyed every second very much.Respect all of you.How would someone leave his comfort zone and put himself into a situation like this ?
I think adventure is like blood in our veins.Congratulations to all of the racers , the mechanics and the team members. Also the spectators.Peace and Love from İzmir Türkiye...
Well done Father and Son. I started reading about the Baja 1000 a decade and a half before Chris even won his first one. My favourite riders back then were Malcom Smith and Larry Roesler. I'm pretty sure the original race finished in La Paz and never made that loop. Glad to see it's still going. Next stop. Paris Dakar.
wow. reminded of my pops who took me racing and to the desert when I was young. he's gone now but all those days on bikes and at the races with him lives in my heart.
awesome brother
That was an AMAZING story, I'm not even a Desert Rat, but I am A father of a very young rider (5). This story inspires me to be the best father I can be for my sons future. Thank you so much for this. You had me a little weepy. Congrats on this victory! A story for the ages!!
Brought tears to my eyes. As a BITD and Score fan I hope to do this with my 3 sons one day. Thanks for sharing your story! Good work!
Eric Harris i have 3 boys. we are trying to do that too. Good luck.
@@tristankoepfli97 I really hope you get to experience this with your boys!
Who all has watched this documentary about 20 times? I know I have let alone 7 times this year. Great job on the documentary and it's such an inspiration to race the baja 1000. Hopefully it will be in two years, 707x.
Wow.. I'm in tears this movie honest to God just probably changed my life. My dad and I race dessert dirt bike races and the first year him and I ever did a full series together was 2015 and we both won our respective classes. I'm lost for words how great this film is. The words spoken at the end quote you have to experience the lows to have the highs.... Man you guys have no idea how much this video means to me will probably be my favorite for the rest of my life thank you so much for sharing I'm still in tears speechless
HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET JUST WATCHED THE SECOND YOU ALL PASSED ME !! MANY TEX CALLED ME JON YOUR IN THE MOVIE LOL !! 202X

Please help me. I am learning English but I found it's really hard to listen to 9:15 "In fact, when a trophy truck comes up by another trophy truck ....?....?....?... it's no joke"
Fesy meaning when you want to overtake the trophy truck, you have to slam the back, make accident :D (thats called rear end it) Hit the truck in front of you inorder to overtake. Either the truck in front looses control & gets out of your path or give u way. Thats why its no joke :D
Thanks a lot. Your answer does help me but I still don't understand What a protocol is
Javier is the real MVP!
No doubt! Gas for the chase van, brake caliper, lights and rider management!
Honorable mention to Jimmy the bike builder.
What a team......wow. And what a finish....
Javier y su poder de persuasión con la señora vendiendo gasolina, me recuerda mis tiempos con el equipo de Curt Le Duc en la Baja 1000 25
Javier reminds me the good old times I spend with the Curt Le Duc Team on the 25th Baja 1000, dealing with the locals for some gas
Congratulations to the entire Team
What an amazing story. 3 generations of racing here. Started with karts but grew into moto in the 90s hope to make it fourth generation with my son. Wow is all I can say. Very inspiring to say the least and quite emotional on my end. How could you not root for this amazing team. Congratulations you guys.. loved every second.
This video is an amazing effort to tell an incredible story. Great job! The father son aspect is heart warming. My son and I raced the Desert 100 when he was 16... I have raced it 5 times, but it was his first. 1100+ racers on the starting line and everyone goes. The "dad" in me was so scared for his safety, but he did it. I was so proud to be there with him. Thanks Janesky Family. I've got tears in my eyes.
This is the best documented material when it comes to baja racing on a motorcycle, congratulations to janesky team on the 2015 Baja 1000 win. It'll definitely will be saved on my favorites videos. Thanks for the great material. No words 👏🏼
rickmag11 Then u still havent watched "Dust to Glory". Thats the best documentary about baja 1000.
Ok, I'm watching that now. Dust to Glory :)
Gentlemen, I am thoroughly impressed at not only your grit and determination on this race, but also the excellent production quality of this film.
Thank you for all the money and effort you put into this entire project, it clearly shows I'm the finished project.
Honestly, it made me think of the hiking adventures I went on with my dad years ago in Indonesia. The part from about 33:10 - 36:36 nearly brought me to tears.
264x here... what a race indeed!! We had a great time and made unforgettable memories along the way to an epic finish. You didn't see us because we were running SO fast and stayed about 64 minutes in front of you most of the way... had the win wrapped up with 3 miles left to go BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP... DOH! STUPID ALARM CLOCK!!!
Incredible job. Inspiring. I am just blown away by the quality of everything about this film. I'm an eye doc and started racing ATV's again at 47 at XC events, and live by the same code. Thanks for putting the effort into making this movie, and congrats on such an epic life experience.
Great doc. ..... Awesome!!! .... Very inspirational! Father & Son from CT. race in the longest off road race in the world!
They had never raced in the desert, nor road for 24 hours straight before.... EVER! Can they find away to finish??? Holly Cow what a story!
awesome doc. I had the chance to run an endurance race with my father also. 300 mile sportbike race on a brand new GSXR750 I bought 3 days prior right out the crate. brought it home, drilled and wired all day and night. put a race body kit on and off we went. no seat time besides a handful of paractice laps. made a few suspension tweaks and that was it. we took 1st place. a memory that will be with me forever.
Please help me. I am learning English but I found it's really hard to listen to 9:15 "In fact, when a trophy truck comes up by another trophy truck ....?....?....?... it's no joke"
Fesy I think they said they rear end the truck to get it out of there way
+Davin werley Thanks I've already known what they said :))
The Basement Guy Hello
I have been racing the baja just over 10 years and this documentary says it ALL! I know Dust to Glory is one of the best offroad productions out there but after seeing this, and in my heart, this surely tops it. What a great sensational father son experience...ever! If you guys are ever back in Baja, look me up and I got your lobster dinners, seriously..btw I have met Chris and Jimmy through a mutual friend who died during the Baja 500 back in 2013. Anyways great job guys on a lasting memory and accomplishment- Zen Pro Racing
THE THING I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT THIS MOVIE WAS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU TWO..WISH YOU A HAPPY LIFE WITH YOUR FAMILY. STAY BLESSED AND RIDE SAFE .ONLY ADVENTURE RIDING.. THIS ONE RACE WAS MORE THEN ENOUGH.
A very inspiring story. Thanks for sharing, Tears in my eyes as a father and a motorcyclist.
What an amazing story. Larry & Tanner, father & son, you're an inspiration.
So far the best video I've watched on CZcams in 2019.
I just want to meet the people that posted thumbs down. Why you ask? I'm thinking it could be real entertaining meeting people that actually didn't like this, because it was just awesome. I really can't see anything to dislike.
This was so awesome, definitely one of my favorite documentaries. Much respect to you and your son for taking on the unpredictable challenges of racing in Baja.
WOW.. MAN i couldnt imagine the adrenaline those 2 was feeling switching back n forth the whole race while other teams had up to 6 riders and a father and son who never rode desert WON especially the father who just started racing dirt bikes at age 32 so that says alot right there!!! AWESOME JOB that may never happen again in the baja 1000 with only father and son doing the racing !!!! UNBELIEVABLE
Every morning he woke up with a smile on his face... this is great love it👍🏻👍🏻
The best motorsport documentary I've seen so far....really inspiring father and son story...
Congrats guys! You did what a lot of Earth's population couldnt. You two, and your whole team are wonderful. I hope this brought both of you closer together than ever. Once again, congratulations.
I'm not crying!
I just got some silt and testosterone in my eyes😭😭😭
"Silt" - as in "fesh-fesh"?
or is it something else.
😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome. Standing ovation from Minnesota! I have raced the I-500 snowmobile race in 2000, finished and placed 7th in my class....I was not a professional...I was a High School Band Director at the time and I was raising money for every mile I made in the race, people donated money to my band kids....that kept my head in the game to not ride over my head. That race was difficult, but not even close to this. Great job, thanks for sharing. I came across this from your Blog. I left teaching in 2008 after 25 years and now back in the Carpet Cleaning industry with my family and son in law. I started watching this video this morning early and couldn't stop until I finished it. I am following your blog right now for 2018. Best wishes and best of luck! :-) You have a wonderful team there!
Thanks Mark!
I followed your Blog and adventures this year. Great story and great challenges. Still very proud for you guys. My best to you and your family and future adventures!
What a wonderful "documentary movie". Father and son with a great team behind them make it to this Baja 1000 race. I really enjoy your story.
Amazing video! I am a father who has raced with his Son and Daughter. Such a great accomplishment. I raced the Baja 1000 in 2010. It was the greatest experience of my life. I was right there with you when you talk about Father and Son moments. I hope maybe one day we can do this race together. 305X in 2010.Patrick Hemperley Known as N2Moto. Our team finished in 4th place in the 30 Expert class that year.
I would have paid $$ to see this on the big screen. Well done.
Po
Great movie, well done! Chad Newman was our mechanic on the 2014 B1K, 1273mi..total badass, glad to call him a friend!
This Documentary is EPIC .... wow ... the overall message is so strong.... really motivational... and inspiring...
Watching this video after attending the 2023 Baja 500. Moto, quad and bugs are the hardest class
Awesome!!! Truly inspiring. That's my ultimate dream... to just finish the 1000
Javier is the man! That dude is a machine, and he had a smile on his face the whole time.
Thanks for sharing the story. One week before the race, I was a fill in rider for team 556x. I rode from mile 70 to 200. Our night guy had some issues and we finished an hour behind you. I think I was the guy you were chasing along the ocean who went off course and missed 2 VCP's. Our GPS did not work for the first 500 miles and I missed a turn. It was great to relive the race through your documentary!
Awesome video and even greater story Larry and Tanner!! My son is in college now which is just crazy to me but I'd love for us to have some kind of adventure like this one day. I know I'm about 6 years late but congratulations on such a huge accomplishment! I love seeing fathers and sons with a bond like u guys have
Fantastic movie/ documentary on your journey! An Inspiration to our father son team!
Into the Dust 2 coming very soon, stay tuned for the release date and watch it here with us!
What!?!
Amazing 😉
À
I am eager to find out if I will be a member of your Chase Crew?
Dude I watched it yesterday. Keep up the amazing work. This man and his son are Certified Badasses boys.
Fifth time watching this grate adventure over the years, love it each time
One of my first jobs as a graphic artist was a brochure for SCORE. I met Sal Fish in his office. I'll never forget his generosity.
Every since Dust to Glory, I've been pining for another epic Baja documentary. Thank you so much for your efforts. It did not disappoint. Congratulations on your story-book finish. The father-son dynamic really spoke to me (I have two sons who ride with me often), but I also appreciated the much deserved attention that you gave to your team, and their critical importance. Definitely a team victory.
Incredible production quality, great story, I loved it!
Thanks for the movie! I've felt the atmosphere of huge struggle, where every detail can be decisive. Men like you are heroes of our time. Congratulations!!!
Incredible... currently 23,000 kilometres into touring the golden triangle and this epic movie was so inspiring... also made me miss my father even more who passed away 3 years ago... I never got to ride with him though he was riding epic distances right up until near his passing at 78 years of age... thank you for sharing this beautiful time in your life...
Hello Edgar! I am glad you liked it!
I worked for you many years dr energy saver almost 6 and i must say you still inspire me to this day great job and thank you
Wow what a great story. I felt emotion through the trials and tribulations. I was really rooting for you guys and was soo happy when you guys won. I felt like I had won!! It was great. Thanks guys. You did it. The Baja 1000.
Woww...
This is the best documentary ever on baja race.
👍👍
Cool part was watching other rider actually help Tanner out when he thought he was lost... Good Karma. We always look out for one another.
Probably cost a fortune but that can only get you in the game. Incredible spirit AND a father and son win! It doesn't get any better than that! Best moment for me was seeing Tanner 'McGuyver' his way out of two potentially race ending mechanicals. Awesome!!!
Sweaty palms watching this 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
this was an awesome watch. Great little production, loved every minute of it and it completely captured my mind
I thought I was watching a remake of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... At first. But this is better. EPIC FILMOGRAPHY BRAVI BRAVA BRAVI
wow.... what a story... and what a movie...hard core racers there and the crew was top notch.... wow..
I've never seen such a great dirt bike documentary I love this so much it feels like one that belongs in the movie theater
Man oh man.. as a father and a gear head the connection between the love they have is absolutely amazing and to conquer something like this I don't think words can explain
Just watched for the first time. Truly great stuff guy's im 61 started riding when i was 9 loved every minute of this. And yes i STILL ride and will till i can't throw my leg over that bike anymore.....
Very Inspiring movie!!!! I miss my dad who thought me how to ride bike...Thank you for this documentary...Two Thumbs Up!!!!!
Congrats Larry, Tanner and team! My son and I just watched every minute and it was great to watch you guys concur the 1000!
Well put. Together, Awesome record of a great achievement. Me Jealous? Yep really. My boy’s a family man now so possibly wouldn’t risk an event like this .... well done!
by far one of the best documentaries I've seen in a really long time. fantastic job!
Sixteen jelly idiots gave this a thumbs down, why ? They must live some really sad lives .
Excellent film quality, great real story. Congratulations on your win ,for the race, and raising a stand up son.
Had that caliper /brake not failed you would have been way ahead. But,it made the story even better.
But had the brake caliper not failed he may not have been followed down the wrong turn....would have still been dark 90 minutes prior
If this thing gets too many views Dana Brown is gonna come calling. Some of the scenes are ripped directly from Dust To Glory. Even the title "Into The Dust" feels like rip off.
The sixteen with thumbs down .They are Trac bikes.lve been through this with them.they say. It's not racing. They are lost souls.l have raced Moto X an cross country.cross country,is buy far we're it is at! Thanks for film.Glad you were with son .makes my eyes Water . Great job !!
What the fuck is a “jelly idiot”?
That was totally amazing to see! Great job to the entire team, dad & son, film crew and fans.
Absolutely love this movie and love the Motivation from tanner and his dad they pushed an won 🤟🏼🔥
This was just beautiful. I loved every minute of it.
Badass movie. Great to see father and son have the vicrory despite everything. Solid team to support them. Saludos
angel bustos are you a trail rider?
joseph, it has been many moons since I've last "trail rode". My time in the Marine Corps has kept me away from my passion for some time now
angel bustos are you from Phil? Bring back your fashion in trail riding sometime. The forest are always waiting 😊. Sorry for my english I'm not that good.
Joseph P. Oo but I have a few friends there. One day, I will make it up there, you can count on that!
Wow!!! This is the best Baja documentary ive ever seen. Good job and congrats.
Excellent! Very lucky dad to have a son like that. Very lucky son to have a dad like that. Cheers to both men!
What a brilliant movie
A lot of truth about what can happen when people get the right team behind them
Both father and son showed true strength
An inspiring film for a change on CZcams
Great documentary Larry! And congrats to you and Tanner and your team on the 2015 B1K win. Amazing feat. I was on the 411X team and we too won. I got on at RM 465 and road into SF. Epic times down in Baja.
Steve Herstad awesome stuff dude 😊👍
Excellent documentary, what a great experience for a father and son to share, truly inspirational!
Keen fan from 🇰🇪 can't stop doing reruns
I truly teared up at the ending of this movie/life story. I relate to this big time. It's not the same as me n my father but in 2007_08_09 me and my dad became father and son landspeed record holders at the Bonneville salt flats aboard our 1952 triumph T100 500cc bike with him holding 2 records in the v-g 500 and vf 500 class and me holding 1 in the v-g mps500 cc class with mine being modified partial streamline class and all 3 being vintage gas and vintage fuel 500cc class. It was very special thing for us both. Congratulations to both of the Janesky's
Very inspirational and heart warming. Brings tears to my eyes. Well done.
Great documentary! Also from CT. Never raced in the Baja but we've ridden Baja with our so cal/ Mexican buds. Ensenada, Mikes sky ranch and down the peninsula. Baja has the craziest terrain, mountain, rocks, beach, talc like dust!! You just don't know til you've done it. Congrats!!
" for all things basementy" 😂
Absolutely amazing experience! Congrats, and thanks for bringing us along.
I absolutely loved this documentary movie. I started it thinking I would watch a little & go to sleep as it was close to bed time. I could not stop watching & finished it after midnight. Congrats on the win & the awesome opportunities turned into great memories.
I really liked the bond of father and son riding all over the world. I share the same desire to ride adventures with my son. He started at 5 years of age like Tanner & is now 13. We just finished his 4th race season, racing TCCRA out of Dallas TX. I've been race with this series for 10 years, but the last 2 years have been the best with my son & seeing him progress & get competitive. We are now rebuilding his KTM 85 after a great year of riding. It's been a great way to bond with him off the track.
Your life story is inspiring & gives me a window in to what is to come. We plan to ride the Colorado Rocky Mountain in a few years together & continue riding & racing for many years.
Thanks for sharing your story in such a professional & inspiring way. Keep making memories together.
Such a great documentary. Great work guys!
Absolutely one of the best Baja movies I have ever seen! Very well done guys. This is a big screen production quality, thanks!
2 years later watched this again in 2020, gives me motivation. Thank you
Completely blown away by this, makes me want to do more things with my dad and anyone else in my life while I still have the chance. Inspires me to live life to the fullest and never take a moment for granted!

This is such an amazing father son story.. Loved every bit of it.. Congrats to both you you.. You guys truly deserved to win..
Enjoyed so much, way to go with only father and son riding it's amazing!!
I never knew the "Basement Guy" was so cool lol
Beautiful Documentary & an amazing father and son story
Deepest heart felt thanks to you both for sharing this experience with us. Great job!
that was brilliant, that is being added to my workshop movie collection, right next to Dust to Glory, fantastic documentary and a well deserved win
What an amazing video I’ve heard of the this race but never realized what it actually takes with the logistics of everything, my hats off to you guys to endure that style of riding and the fact you got to do the race with your son so cool
CONGRATULATIONS MR LARRY AND TANNER , ITS 1:27 HOUR WORTH TO WATCH MOVIE . THE BEST SPORTS MOVIE I EVER WATCH
Thanks Burrin!
Best video experience ever...Absolutely fantastic!
