    Is MasterClass worth it in 2023 when there are so many other resources out there to learn from? Well, the answer comes down to information asymmetry which we explain in this video.

    Great video. Wish I would have seen this before purchasing the 6 seat pass a bit ago so I could smash that affiliate link for you.
    Haven’t seen your other videos. Nice review but I was curious if you had a heads up on the specific Keystone Habits book you have mentioned? There are several out there and I get the vibe we have similar approaches to self-improvement and learning.
    I’ve always tried my best to lead with this approach and reading about some ways to reset myself when the domino of small habits starts bending the other way would be amazing.
    Oh and can you confirm what course or instructor touches on this topic of information asymmetry?
    This is something I have been struggling to get across to a few creative teams I lead. Maybe they need the keystone habit book too lol, but they are probably tired of the messenger at this point (me). I could probably use the inspiration myself even though I’m more of a generalist in my work (producer).
    Creatives, especially the middle age veterans, tend to have a wishy washy relationship with this concept as they can become overly focused on being a specialist via a very narrowed lens. Generally that’s why they are skilled and talented to begin with, but it also goes both ways as they often struggle with leadership as they can fall into the trap of playing the role of “resident expert” more and more over time.
    Hard to explain and I could keep rambling, but this actually can have a cascading effect on the teams and work we do, but it’s not really something you can just explain into their brains. It’s a “choice” that needs to be made. Perhaps you could say a Keystone Habit to be developed 🙃
    Information Asymmetry is more or less why I signed up for MC for myself + to share with our team with no obligation to watch. There are definitely some ding dongs on the MC platform (Ninja) but you’re darn tootin I’ll be sending a link to recommend they watch that episode first.
    You have a nice way of presenting, appreciate your reply if you get a chance. Have a nice holiday ❄️

      That’s awesome. Congrats on the new job. I worked in an ad agency but was kind of a Jack of all trades and never got to do enough of the creative side so I started doing CZcams to tap into that. I wish you much success in your new endeavor!

    Big problem with the site is that it says something like $15 a month (billed annually) in parenthesis, and then when you click to put in payment info, it hides the amount it's going to charge you ($180) until after you already start processing the transaction. Clearly a lot of care went into trying to obfuscate as much as possible that you will be charged a minimum of $180, and there is no actual monthly billing. It's just a scam to let them write $15 or $20 on the site to not scare you away with their real price tag.
    Similarly, I only found maybe 20 hours of content that was valuable to me on the website, which I got through in my first month, so the other 11 "months" worth of charges were absolutely useless to me. Overall beware, those are all red flags reeking of a company that uses deceptive means to get sales.

    Many of the lessons are available on CZcams. The Sleep Guy does Ted Talks and they're on CZcams. Franklin barbeque is on YT, and the many writer classes are generic, with lessons you can get in any book on writing at the library. $180 is too much. $99 would be the max I would pay for it. I got it as a gift.

    • @HankTheTank23
      @HankTheTank23 Před 2 lety +2

      As far as I understand, it’s $15 a month, but you have to pay for a full year, which is $180. That subscription should give you access to all of the classes.
