Uruguay is emerging as one of South America’s favorite destinations. Its capital #Montevideo has a warm, temperate climate, pleasant sea breezes and miles of boulevards.
#Tour the city while on #vacation here and #visit the towers, squares and cathedrals of its Old Towns. Wander along the 19-mile long promenade, La Rambla leads to the city’s favorite playground: De Los Pocitos Beach.
Enjoy the proud local tradition of “parrilla". The best way to try it is to buy cuts of meat in the Mercado del Puerto, and have those cooked for you on the spot.
#Explore the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Colonia del Sacramento, with its landmark lighthouse, sleepy Plaza de Armas, historic Portón de Campo and atmospheric Street of Sighs.
Uruguay may be small, but its big heart and relaxing vibe creates a lifetime of memories.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

briantravelman SO JEALOUS, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PARADISE❗️💯😂
@@lindaglendenning8332 Jealous? I think you dont get what hes saying
Yes, one of the best in South America. Have very high HDI, high per capita income, almost nil poverty, infact much developed.
Yes, the only advantage of being underrated, else we humans knows how to destroy pristine places.
It's a far country

Not really peaceful. Maybe back in the early 1900s when there used to be a lot of Italians and Spaniards. Now the capital is brimmed with Northern Uruguayans of Brazilian descent and foreigners from non-European cultures.
True whites make up 30-40% of the population in Uruguay. Argentina has a similar number. The percentages are going down by the day thanks to the third world socialist governments that want to eradicate European culture and genetics in the Rio de la Plata region (Uruguay/Argentina).

Montevideo - my favourite city in Latin America! I will go there again in February! It is so great to walk thru Ciudad Vieja and along the Rambla and finish the day with a glass (or 2 or 3) of delicious Tannat red wine in Bodega Gato Negro in Punta Carretas! 😁
How great to know! I'm going there this month :-)
@@ritaelinfjeldbo2999 if you need some advices where to go in MVD let me know. Enjoy your stay!
@@carstengermer6773 Thank you! My hotel is located along La Rambla close to Ciudad Vieja, so I believe there are much to do and see in that area. However, after watching this video, I was captivated by Casapueblo, and I really would like to go there on a daytrip. Have you any experiences with going by bus to Maldonado? Are there any bus stops along La Rambla (in MVD), or do I have to start my journey at the bus central? Are there any electric signs inside the bus showing the next stop? The more details you have, the better! (My Spanish is strictly limited, I'm afraid.)
@@ritaelinfjeldbo2999 MVD in general is a very safe city but you should avoid the rotten side walks of Ciudad Vieja after 08.00 p.m.! They are not really safe. During day time it's no problem. In the evening C. Vieja is anyhow quite dead. Not much to do there. I always stay in Punta Carretas. Very safe also at nite, many restaurants and good hotels.
As I almost never go by bus I can't help you much. I heard the bus system is quite good in UY - both inside MVD and to other locations. There is a website www.trescruces.com.uy where you can find all bus connections.
Or ask in your hotel. People in UY are very friendly and like to assist foreigners. In the hotel they usually all speak English.....also in the city you will find English speaking people.
I luv Montevideo❤❤
I was there almost 10 years ago and loved it!!! I really liked the food, culture, customs, people, love of liberty, and all the old classic cars that people still drive. I drove through 15 of the 19 departments of Uruguay! I met the man outside of Colonia de Sacramento that is in the Guiness World Record Book for his pencil collection. I loved the Hot Springs in Dayman, south of Salto, way up north. I climbed to the top of that lighthouse in Colonia, but never did visit Paloma, which was past Punta Del Este. Great Vlog, you got my vote!!
Going to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina can’t wait!!!
This is a great country to visit.
Dios!! que bonito es Montevideo!!!! Gracias Expedia!

I´m Uruguayan and I really like this video. I think is very accurate (which does not happen often with videos made by outsider, so take it as a big compliment) and shows nice views and points to visit. :)

Montevideo. Excellent job.
Great and beautiful country and people.......
Wow ☺️ wonderful country with lovely people 😍😍😍
I was use there for 8 days. Mentioning and comparing them to their neighbors so often isn't fair. They are quite different and are extremely proud to say they are Uruguayan. I found most of them very friendly and will help gringos. Their neighbors aren't as friendly. Especially in Buenos Aires. And in Uruguay I met so many people that can at least speak basic English. For their neighbors, not so much.
I totally agree with you! Even though we have a similar culture, we are proud to be Uruguayan, and one thing I didn´t like about this video is that they didn´t mention tango when it is very important for us and it is not Argentinian as people always says. We also consider tango our own, like Cumparsita is!
Richard's World Traveller Im from Buenos Aires and that is true we have the most amazing food and 4 diferents climates but the people here is not friendly i dont know why even when you take a bus they tread you bad
Uruguay was always the most civilized and progressive country in Latin America, greetings
I feel like Uruguay is the Canada of South America
you're in there country as a visitor they don't need to know English for you! English is not mandatory
Wow !!!

"Uruguay is emerging as one of South America's..." Well, during my upbringing in Santa Barbara, California, it couldn't be lost on anyone, however hard of hearing, that the upper classes there felt -- and perhaps all over the US -- that Uruguay was the equivalent of Switzerland. And this was in the 40s and 50s. Perhaps even before that. So "...emerging..." might not be an accurate description of the country's historical position as a tourist destination.
Completely agree. I lived there for two years and laughed out loud at several of the narrator's comments. Uruguay doesn't need embellishment, or misleading facts to be a great place to visit.
Its true, Uruguay was regarded as "la suiza de america" during early XX century, but everything went to shit after that, and in the last 30 years we are slowly and steadily RE-EMERGING as a stable, safe, country. And tourism has never been as important as in the last 20 years.
Hermosa Nacion!!!
I haven’t been back to Uruguay 🇺🇾 for 12 years going there next summer can’t wait to see my old neighbor hood but this time I’m going to see all of Uruguay not just stay in Montevideo
Vamo uruguayy eeh
Excellent place 👌👨💻🙂
I hope you like it. If you like hot water, on the north there are some hot springs, but if you go in summer, it might be a little hot for that... You would probably like Punta del Este and all the east coast on the Atlantic Ocean towards Brazil.
Andres Chaur de donde sos? En que mes venís? Bienvenida a Uruguay!

Beautiful country with beautiful progressive minded people. Uruguay is probably the most developed country in Latin America. Argentina is also highly developed and progressive thinking. I would love to visit Uruguay!!
