For a real shock you should try to play the base game as it was on release day 😭
This was funny. I will say it's harder ro go back to the game without DLC once you have played with DLC (and Mods) but once Sims 4 had infants and toddlers in base game and the kinks of those had been generally worked out, I paused on my Sims 2 rotation and played Base Game for like a month and built up the core families I am still playing with. I moved into a Maxis house and got a standard rabbit hole job to start. Honestly, I did have fun. The three map limitations had me thinking creatively and I felt like I had a community of sims who knew each other (for good or for ill). However, I finally headed down the DLC lane and why does the game feel more incomplete with DLC then it did when I was just playing base game? The world is bigger but still incomplete somehow. Weird.
If you played the old Sims games, having a baby at home (no hospital) and not following your Sim to work were the norm anyway. So not bothered.
I am SO here for these sims videos.

rn you are playing the current version of TS4 base game, but I still have my 2014 disc version with zero updates, true vanilla base game experience 😂
I'm playing it right now because I wanted to remember those good old times and if the game felt limited to you now, it's 143% more shallow and empty in my current game haha
This reminds me of when I bought the game when it came out for my older sister who loves the sims series but then when we sat down to play it we were sorta bored and i felt so bad bc why was it so lame I saved all my little kid money to get my sister a nice gift
Honestly 2023 base game is not bad at all, especially if you don’t know anything else exist. 2014 was a trash game, but the base game is pretty stable now with added features. It’s just hard to ignore the constant prompts to buy the DLC (including those ‘locked’ worlds behind a paywall).

I just started the video and the Tom Nook Sim is already giving me flashbacks... because why does this guy look like young Solomon Sallow? Just why...
I remember not being able to play the game when it came out for months (years?) because they didn't have it for Mac. Sims 3 was ready for both Mac and PC... ugh
I guess it was only 6 months but damn it felt longer.
Sims 1 and 2 both had delayed Mac releases. (was Sims 1 even on Mac, I know 2 was). 😂 And up until Sims 4, the console version wasn't even the same game. At the end of the day, Sims is built on and for PC so it's always a PC first game. The reverse is true when games are built for a different system. Like if Something is built for console there's usually a delay to PC etc etc. The delay is normal to create the ported version is what I am saying.

@@luke.jaguarIDK, I didn’t play much Sims 3, I liked Sims 2 better. But if they dropped 3 at the same time on Mac and OC it was the only Sims game in the 4 games series to do so.
@@luke.jaguarchecked for fun, literally every game except Sims 3 (Sims 1, 2, and 4) had a six-ish month gap between PC and Mac release. And some of Sims 2, about half the packs (2 EPs and some Stuff packs), never had a Mac port and can’t be played on Mac to this day.
