In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. Be sure to stay subscribed to stay up to date with my latest expeditions, y'all! - Zábava
Mike, I'm 72 years old, I watched the entire video. I found it both entertaining and educational. Although I would never dismantle one of those machines, I loved it. I love how you put fun into work. Keep up the great work and the FUN. Love ya!
Mike I79 and enjoyed your video, never miss one of you dumpster dives either, the only thing I worry about is all the dust your breathing in while your talking to us? Bless you !
@@emmasdaughter42 I think the same thing about the dust particles flying up the nostrils and into the mouth while Mike is talking, during his dumpster diving.
It goes with scrapping we unique people special type of lungs 😮
Hey Mike, now let's see you put it back together. lol. Kidding, have a great weekend. Be safe
Too funny
😂🤣😂
I actually did LOL for this.
😂
Put it in reverse Terry
Who doesn’t like tearing shit apart? Enthralled Mike.... watched every minute!
Me love taking things apart 😃😃😁😁😁
When the skinny TVs came in I did the same thing with my old fat TV. Just sat there in the living room with a bucket to throw parts and screws into. Spent a very satisfying hour and a half just being curious. Good job Mike!
“They press the thing in the thing” This is why I watch your channel! I’m always laughing and learning 🤣
Easy to comprehend... 🤣🤣🤣
This weekend we remember those that never came home. Veterans day we Thank all Veterans for their service
I enjoyed that Mike I don’t know why it was just long and cool
This was the most engaging thing I’ve ever watched, wow! Thanks for not speeding thru it. I truly enjoyed every minute. I’m going to show my grandson too, he’s 15. Wow that was amazing. You are the best!
Watching you take this apart makes me wonder who in the world would think up such a contraption.
most design engineers usually just solve problems. yep, they luv puzzles and too curious at a too young age. its a "what do u need? oh ya, i can figure it out, give me a few days" type of thing.
This is a gas chromatograph used for analyzing liquids and gases. You could use the oven for heating welding rods or curing small painted powder coated objects. The columns are usually stainless and all the needle valves are usually stainless also. Got to watch some of the older ones contain asbestos insulation !
This is just as exciting for me to watch as the diving. I love seeing the actual process of what you do after your dives. Thanks for this video 🤗
Tenacity!!! You've got it my man!!!
Thanks for keeping the recyclables OUT of the landfill!!! 🧡
Some guy somewhere is watching this and thinking "OMG I spent 2 weeks putting that together and Mike's ripping it apart in minutes"
I used to have my own business doing touch up and bumper paint repair at car lots and when I got a customer who would not pay me for the work I did I would tell them "Hey I can take paint off way faster than I can put it on. Don't make me come and get my paint back".
@@spagsketti OMG,LOL...my husband told a customer after he did a roofing job
the same thing, when he didn't get paid!
"I can tear it off as fast as I put it on"!!!!
@@emmasdaughter42 I have said that too hauling brush off of tree trimming jobs but I was going to put the hole 18 foot long trailer load at their front door. I also did the framing work on a house and the guy did not want to pay us the last of the money. So I said I would put a chain around it and hook it to my truck and drive off.
Funny how some people change their mind when you say stuff like that. I can understand not paying if there was something wrong with the job I did but that was never the case.
GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL WHO READ THIS AMEN.
52:00 I learned from some russian "micro-scrappers" videos that such precision potentiometers can have platinum or paladium, either in the resistive element itself (in particular if it's a wire wound one) and in the wiper part that travels across the resistive element.
It amazes me the work that goes into things like this, someone somewhere dreamt this up and designed it and knew where to put each part. And what each part needs to be made of.
Mike does reverse engineering. 🤣🤣🤣
Have you ever considered listening this stuff on eBay for more than you could get as scrap? Stay safe out there Mike. Cheers
Those studs are called Stand-offs.
Stand offs as you can find many in computers.
I'd often wondered, and now I know!
Internationally they're called risers
risers in Aus
Hold they be called spacers?
In case someones interested: A chromatographer does chromatography. This one looks like it does gas chromatography. To put it in few words: It seperates gas mixtures by pumping it through the column (which should be filled with some sort of solid/liquid) for anayltic purposes. Each gas component moves with different speed and thus seperate from each other.
A common demonstration is writing on a coffee filter with a pen and then pulling water through the filter paper which makes speperate colored stripes appear. Same principle, but with a liquid that gets separated.
"A chromatographer does chromatography."...epic. lol
That’s very cool!
Separates. Separate. Separated.
Got nearly 8k in resale but let's just tear this apart and see if we can't get a few bucks. WTF?
Isn't this what they use to verify a failed drug test?
Glad to see that you are wearing your OSHA approved safety toe flip flops while scraping.....
I've been an Tig welder for 26 years now and I mainly weld stainless steel and the wide range of exotic varieties of stainless steel
Back in my 20'S, I was given a huge industrial rooftop air-conditioning system to scrap. Ton of paperwork, even way back then. I don't remember all the prices, but cans were 50 cents a lb. I made over 500 on just that air conditioner. Alot of work!!! Love to watch. Benny
Now I really know why Scrap and Pallet Man, Paul, doesn't micro-scrap. But hey, seeing what's inside makes it all the fun. Especially when there is high grade circuit boards inside. As my favorite Japanese anime "Desert Punk" would say, "Money, money, money, money", I think its in the titled "All That Glitters". Awesome score Mikey!
Wow, awesome brainiacs who conceived of and built this machine. And awesome Mike the Brainiac Scavenger. Thanks! It was an adventure to watch this.
Always nice to see..that you take the time for smalls , they all add up,, another guy on youtube just scraps it , doesn't take apart crutches and all the wire out of lights , makes no sense not to get it all, nice job man , I like these kind of videos
"Oh, these unscrew...." trained pro takes apart 1000s of $$$ worth of components over an hour and a half for $6 worth of scrap metal.
Plenty of spare time and all scrap later adds up to a nice nest egg for christmas or whatever. All the wires from appliances i strip goes in a big crate in the shed til it's full- over 1.5 cubic metres which adds up to something over $200 each year. And then theres the fridge compressors and washing machine motors I put aside which pay between 2 and 5 bucks each. Most appliances are way less fiddly and quicker to strip than lab equipment so you take the bad with the good.
250.000 views and it still goes up...
I am a 65 years young woman and I love watching your channel.
I am older and watch a few scrappers, never knew people did this.
Gotcha beat, I am a 75 retired woman and loved it too!
Im 71 yrs young and Mike was 1 of the few who inspired me to scrap.I watch for the enjoyment and to learn.
Scrappy scrap snibbits ish, thats how Mike says welcome to the truck in his native language! 🤣😆
Nice scrap vid Mike! For those of you saying he should've seen if it works first...a company is not going to throw a working $40k machine in the trash, furthermore, how exactly is he supposed to test it out?
True, but throw it up on eBay, write untested! As is! On the listing, ask 50$, buyer pays shipping, set it for 1 week auction, couple pics and voila! Somebody is going to want to try their hand at fixing it, and it may have new life, and Mike gets more for his 15 minutes than he would have scrapping. Win win.
Man you would be shocked and appalled at how much working merchandise and equipment gets tossed. You must not dumpster dive yourself.
Hi Mike I loved watching this video 😊 when I was a little girl I would watch my dad take car engines apart and put them back together again 😊 I was hoping that this was brass for you because your a great guy and you worked hard thanks for a great video till the next one 😊 take care xx
I love how metal scrappers will turn 1000's of dollars into tens of dollars.
it's all about the quick buck. He could've flipped it to someone who sells on ebay for several hundred dollars in a minute and let them go through the hassle of selling it.
@@thadofalltrades Shoot, I might have given him $1500 for it, if I had a chance to check it out first.
I would assume it does not work since he found it in the trash.
@@Bird_Brain_Dave You can still buy them new, if you've got the $20,000 they're asking. If I were to rebuild a $1500 dumpster one and sell it for $10k, I'd still come out ahead.
@@SansNeural fair enough
Mike those little parts in the beginning that are brass are called "Stand offs" That "brass color" coating on the aluminum is called Anodized.
Bout to say the same about the standoffs
That box reminded me of my first girl friend, the relationship was a lot of work but I got a lot of screws out of it. 😏
I Love watching you take this apart!!
Thx for the video of you scrapping out this piece of equipment. I love taking stuff apart too!!!
Happy & Safe weekend. Fascinating Pull-A-Part enjoyed watching!
I want to thank my son Greg an all the men an woman that have fought an died so we can live in this free country god bless them all
God bless you
Very interesting to see what’s inside...thanks for sharing Mike bless you and yours
Mike, have a great Memorial Day Weekend. Throughly enjoying watching you take this apart!
I am a medical laboratory technician. I watched your video from beginning to end and loved all of it!!
First let me Thank You for remembering the ones who gave it all, that’s what Memorial Day is all about.
Great video, very interesting tear down and separation of material. Really enjoyed watching. Thanks Again.
Love this video. Like knowing how it comes apart and put together. Hope we see more of these. Thanks
My husband used to take apart Everything! after supper out at his workbench. Had a bucket full of copper. Miss those nights.
Hey Mike love it when you tear something apart. Totally awesome!!!!
Hey Mike 👍
Was with y'all on this epic video of taking that thing apart from start to finish xx great scraps and great video, really enjoyed watching it xx have a great weekend y'all xx
Those bolt/screws are called stand-offs Mike. You'll find them in all types of electronic devices.
Fantastic. Weldone for a long film ,very interesting thank you .
I can't believe you took that apart.
You could have picked up $ 900.
Yes I did say $ 900. if you left that intact.
but its worth way more to entertain us than a mere 900 bucks
You would spend way to much time finding the right buyer to get the $900. Not know if it worked or not.
This has to be one of my favorites. Thank you my friend for all the amazing content. Keep scrapity scraping 😎
There are more screws in there than you can shake a stick at, LOL. Love the take apart videos, interesting what is inside something, yes.
I have taken apart a lot of electronics and medical equipment including microscopes and things I did not know what they were. Good job. Enjoyed watching it
Happy Memorial day weekend to you and your Mrs. !!!! fun to watch you take apart crazy machines. been raining here in PA too but it keeps the fairweather scrappers outta my dumpsters and scrapping in the rain isnt that bad as long as you stay outta the juice. lol about the coax fittings
definitely want a scrap run to see how much you make off of this!!
The ferrous will all go in the next scrap run, but I expect he'll save the stainless, ally and brass for respective dedicated runs when he has enough for a "payday". All my batteries, ally, brass, Stainless wire, motors, and other copper get saved til I have bulk amount of each. I have large wooden machinery crates for each and a pallet truck to move them.
I really enjoyed this video, and I learned quite a bit for when I micro scrap. Thanks Mike!
Amazed that there was so much to recycle and very little put into the trash. Love your vids. Regards from Scotland.
Whew! Lots there! Please stay safe out there! ❤️❤️
Mike you have come a long way since your 1st video can't wait for your next one
True dedication. That was a bear to strip down. Those small bits of brass in the computer world are called standoffs. They keep the motherboard from making contact with the metal case underneath.
The only way this level of scrapping is profitable is if you're making youtube videos though. lol
Thank you, enjoy the breakdown videos
I commend you! That was WORK. At least it wasn't rusty and came apart easy. Thanks for letting us watch! Go get some lunch.
good job.loved it.Thank you.
Very interesting to see what’s inside...thanks for sharing Mike
Nice can't wait to watch was hoping you would put this out soon
I LUV WATCHING VIDEOS OF U TAKING STUFF APART
Hey Mike, Great Video! I love tearing down stuff too!
The bolt things under circuit boards are called standoffs.
O my goodness thanks for sharing
Awesome thanks for answering my request for taking this apart it was very interesting
Nice break down buddy, I love tinkering and pulling stuff to bits and get all the nitty gritty bits and pieces separated.
Great video Mike, thanks for all the aswome videos . You are the dumpster king
Pure enjoyment to watch. Love it .
Just incredible!
Its probably wise to get yourself an test kit so you can determine like stainless 316 from 304 , you get an colour table with it so you can see what the acidic test fluid does to it
Nice bit of metallurgical science for you
Its not valuable enough to be worth the trouble. The only difference in scrap value is magnetic vs. non magnetic stainless. Magnetic will get you ferrous price.
Awesome video great to watch have a awesome weekend
When dealing with medical grade equipment keep in mind what you think may be brass could gold there may also me alot of platinum and palladium as well as silver
Cool Mike, I enjoyed that 👍👍
Loved watching the deconstruction of equipment.
Loved todays video!
The old Scrappin pallet man Paul what you’re doing is the worst thing you could have him do in life he hates tearing things apart I love it
This is relaxing in a weird sort of way! Thanks Mike
i enjoyed this video alot!! thank you mike for the entertainment
Have a blessed weekend brah!!!
Enjoyed the video!!!
Loved every minute of it!
taking it down to the bones! great job Mike!
Hope you had a great weekend nice job
Thanks for the video
for some reason this was interesting watching...good one 😃
Oh my word. you have a whole lot of patience..hahaha. was interesting to see how you break things down.
I enjoyed that, I have always l loved taking things apart to see how they work, but bloody hell, could you imagine breaking that down with a hand cranked screwdriver!
As someone who's done over 30k transactions on eBay, sometimes it's really painful to watch you disassemble things for scrap when they'd sell for 20x that amount on eBay. :(
20x or more….Exactly. Kills me. I dont get it. I scored a Leica Microtome and got $9,500 for it.
I dont get it. He looks it up on eBay and sees the value. Tells us about it and then……scraps it!!!??? Crazy why are you scrapping it. He shows the coil and says price and then scraps.
That interior im pretty sure is gold coated
Oh my effing gosh. Its a gas chromatographer man mike killing me. ….
Man that is all so valuable. Why isnt he parting it out at least
Fyi i saw another unit said it was radio active on it. Theres a lot of hazardous stuff in these medical and science equipment at times(im mostly trying to scare you into making more money with less work in these )
Listing thing as is” on ebay is the way to go man. Just an honest. What you see is what you get as is. Start at a penny. With with the shipping set accordingly. One just went for $900 as is. Same unit
Here's the challenge, then: Check back here when you have been successful in getting 89,000 people to watch you sell some random single item on eBay.
Deal?
@@GuyWithTheDogs That "scrap" was worth a lot more than 89k views.
Great video thanks mate
Hi Mike that was a great video I'm shattered now keep up the good work
Привет Майк! I've always been interested in how things work and how they work. As a child, it was rare for a toy to travel from the store to the house unassembled.
Russia/Torzok
Pleasantly satisfying 😊
I enjoyed that a lot. Thank you. 🌸kindness matters🌸 Yuengling is my cold beer of choice!
I had to watch it in two halfs Mike but it was worth it.All the best from Dundee Scotland.👍👍✌👊👊
I like that little black table on wheels 👍
LOVED IT
The black thing at the back is an actuator to turn the valve with all the tubbing coming out of it. If it has 8pieces of tubing coming out of the round valve it is an Eight port valve and almost all valves are stainless and I do not think you could buy a new one for less than $1,000 ! I worked in a lab for around 10 years with these then spent my last ten years on analyzers running and repairing these same type GC’s !
The 1/16 and 1/8 and 1/4 tubing with the ferrules on the end is expensive and the unions and valves are worth much, much more to someone who can use it properly than scrap.
lot of work taking this shit apart. have a great day Mike.
I love to disassemble things also. I will take it down to the bare bones. I call it therapy. You are wonderful.
Thermocouples come in different cases/forms, so you might want to look up the model of the unit and figure out what it looks like/where the thermocouple is/was. The potentially platinum wire could be inside a stainless case/sheath.
Mike builds time machine in his garage from scraps...💪
