Welcome to Season 8! Thank you joining us for the start of this new season in Key West, Florida!
We LOVE the Keys and become more and more addicted to its Caribbean waters, palm trees and island life every time we visit! We were able to reconnect with some friends we met in Key West last year, and Corey got to flex those detailer muscles by buffing Ron and Joy’s new to them boat! Even after 5 years, that muscle memory came right back!
We love boating. It is actually what got us into RVing in the first place. We camped on our boat on Sebago Lake, Maine, for years, and it grew such a desire in us for adventure as well as an understanding that we could live small.
It was an honor to be part of Ron and Joy’s maiden voyage out on the boat to Boca Grande Key, an island about 15 miles off the coast of Key West. We made it back to Mallory Square just in time to watch the sunset!
This episode was a bit of a catch up video to share what we did in the couple months between the Lippert Getaway in Georgia (if you missed last week’s video about the Getaway and the launch of seRV, you can watch it here: • WE’RE TRAILER TRASH | ... ) to the Keys. There was a whole lot of miles driven, friends and family visited and Corey even faced one of his greatest fears thanks to some encouragement from his “big” brother!

My preference would be to loose the booth type dinettes and go with a table and chair type dinette, also the TV placement in some is neck breaking. I know some folks do not care about the TV but when we camp or travel we like to have it especially on the hot/cold/rainy days. Love the videos, learned some much and enjoyed the sights through pictures. Safe travels!

More color options. If you pony up big money for a brand new rig, you should be able to pick between a few colors or curated looks pre-selected by the manufacturer.

I had LASIK done way back in 2003. While I’m from RI, I had it done in Mass. In RI at the time they were cutting the Lena’s with a diamond blade. In Mass they cut the flap with the laser. I was a bit scared as well. Going from 20/400 to 20/25 was completely amazing. Now that I’m in my 50’s I’ve finally noticed that I need reading glasses. Hope all is well.
It was a big difference for sure! I went from 20/400 like you to 20/15 after surgery! Crazy!
I'd like to see Grand Design get rid of the 2-tone euro cabinets. Inside is a sea of brown, which is blah. Gray is out in interior design now. So, they don't need to jump on that bandwagon. Instead, if a rig is bought brand new, it'd be nice to be able to pick from a few interior colors kinda like when you buy a new vehicle.

More counter space near the sink! I have almost zero counter space by the sink and stove. And more plug-ins. And I always love your photography. So well done.
Glaring lights! Current recessed fixtures are almost worst than darkness. Add up lighting and other modern design concepts, and not just blue strips.
I got that surgery last month and what a game changer! Unfortunately mine is already coming back after a month. But this summer I'll "clean" em up and hopefully it'll stay that way! So proud to hear u ....bucked up butter cup!
Cut down the size of the kitchen sinks and position the cook top better so you can have more counter space. There is very little room in some of the motorhomes to put appliances on the counter when you are stopped.
A lot of counter space is towards the top of our list for kitchen must haves! We also don't like when the oven has walls on both sides so a pan handle can't stick out the side!

We did the Philly rv show yesterday, it still amazes us the little concern given in floor plan design to the ability to utilize a unit with the slides in.
I hear on you on this! You still use your RV when the slides are in ! You definitely need to be able to get to the bathroom, the fridge, and there still needs to be a couple places to sit!
Absolutely!! A couple units I love while shopping an upgrade made me so sad because I wouldn’t be able to stop overnight and sleep without opening a slide. And some dangers say oh, just pop it out a little, uh that’s not good, others have the blue tooth so you could get in and out with your phone app, but do I really want to be locked in my BR like that? No- bummer
No problem with videos running behind. Anyone who complains never did quality editing like ya'll do. We are the couple that saw you at the Key West Publix. We might have been near Malloy Square when you took the boat out. I remember seeing a cruise ship just like the one in the video.

We remodeled a 05 Laredo 5th wheel to the studs…new paint, redesigned cabinets and countertops, added a space heater fireplace, new waterproof floors and faux wood beams across the ceiling. We also added a new residential fridge and a 2nd a/c on a 30 amp system by installing its own dedicated 15amp circuit….
The number one thing I would like to see is higher ceilings in TT. I'm just over 6'1" and most TT side walls are only 6'6". Vaulted ceilings help a little. We are looking at the Rockwood Signature 8263MBR that has 6'9" walls and vaulted ceilings and is under 30' with ok closet space for extended trips or full-time.. so yeah.. #2)Closet space. #2.5) would be campside windows.... opps that was more than 1 🤣
It is part of the reason we bought our Grand Design Reflection - the high ceilings. Almost everyone thinks we have a fifth wheel because of how big it feels inside our RV! Thanks for watching and for your answers to our question! 🙏

Nice job helping out your friend with his new boat. Glad to see you guys made it down to the Keys. We spent two weeks there in the back row but we had full hookups :). Going to float our RV to Ocracoke next weekend hope we don’t sink.
Hey, I would love to see real leather or cloth material on the sofas and theatre seating that won't peel. I also got laser surgery and it lasted for 10 years and loved it while it lasted. Happy trails!

I just got back from a very long needed vacation. Jumped on a huge boat, in Miami sailed to Keywest and Cozumel Mexico. Carnival Conquest was a blast. The water at Coz was such an amazing blue. Keywest, has unbelievable history. Great place to visit.
We always love seeing all the cruise ships in Key West! So glad you had such a fun trip! We have never actually been on a cruise but it is on the SOMEDAY list!

We enjoy your videos so much. The one thing I would like to see in new RV is classic European design; it never goes out of style. We have checked out hundreds of fifth wheels since last October and I can’t stand the brown or dark cabinets. I love what you have done with yours. Great plan.

Hi y'all. Have you ever Parasailed in the Keys? I did it a couple of years ago, and it was outstanding! We have a G.D. Imagine TT. We wish every TT had steel-lined wheel wells, b/c TPM's aren't infallible. We threw a tread, but the tire stayed inflated - too late, damage done, and how! Hole all the way through the floor on the inside of the camper, and splinters, tire chips, insulation, etc. in the entire camper.

You made waxing that boat look easy. I have a 40' 5th wheel toy hauler that has some oxidization on it. I need to work on mine this summer and make it look better. The graphics are already cracked but I would like the rest of it to still look good.

I don't have an older brother, so Corey will serve as my inspiration to get Lasik done on my eyes next week - I too have been afraid / putting it off for years. As I've aged, my eyes are getting a bit too dry to use contacts for long hours, especially driving. Hope to see you at one of the events in 2023.

G'day guys. You spoke about laser surgery. Since 2019 I have been getting injections and laser surgery on a monthly basis. Prior to the laser, I would never have credited light as being able to create pressure. I know better now.

Great job on that boat! ✨ To answer your question, I think it would be nice to have just a little bit higher quality furnishings inside the RV. We looked at so many RVs at the Tampa RV show, but just couldn’t switch over from our Airstream because the Airstream just feels more like a little home. 🥰

I wish manufacturers would make flush mounted stoves and sinks. That way when your not cooking or doing dishes you would have a flat work surface.

We’ve toured many fifth wheels during the past year (we’re buying next January) & my desire is have less overstuffed furniture (sleeper couch & theatre seats), no side valances, and waaaaayyyyy less browns!
I had cataracts so I took that time to get replacement lens that correct my vision. And I had to be awake for it too! Scared the living daylights out of me! My eyes are needed to take photographs!

Forgot. One thing I hate about rvs or 5th wheels is the stupid double bathroom doors. One from the hallway and one from the master bedroom. It's really dumb when u have another half or full bath.

Hey Corey, like you I'm terrified of Lasik....can't stand anyone messing with my eyes. Are you now happy you did it? I hope the doctor gave you something to totally relax.
Lots of sun screen 😎 I am glad I did it, there’s 3 stages to the recover time. The first day would be the hardest (you can see immediately, and it doesn’t hurt) they basically just want you to sleep and keep your eyes closed no tv, reading, work. then the next stage is medication (drops) several times a day for a full week. wearing googles to bed so you don’t rub your eyes , staying out of wind , keeping face out of water. After the week your basically healed at that point, but you still take precautions until a full month. After a month then your golden feel free to dive into the water and open your eyes! Happy to not have to worry about glasses or contacts anymore!

Not much renovating just adding things like a medicine cabinet, a CD/ TV combo, a bed curtain and a faucet filter. Don't want to change anything because I want to keep it stock for resale value, which I probably won't sell.

That’s a good shakedown💪 my best advice is, post videos as long as the process is fun for you. The only other variable is if it’s not exactly fun is it will preserve the experience (think photo album) a folder full of video files most likely won’t get viewed by you or anyone else in the future . If you edit the highlights into one file it’s easier to view in the future.
What bad weather? It has been perfect for a long time now. 70-80's sunny. Any time you want a break, by all means DO IT. Hopefully we aren't THAT selfish. We love you and want YOU to be happy, too. I can't figure out what time of year this was done. You are talking about Nathan and Marissa but THEY are in BAHA, MX so now i am really confused on the time frame.

change by the manf: would be a bit larger doors, so one can change out furniture to there needs. but they need to lower the dealers selling points so people like me can afford a new rv.
as trying to make max profit on every sale just to get a larger profit on the books, keeps some from being able to buy, so we have to walk away leaving the salesman with no moneys for that deal.

A lot of RVs have such ugly material on the valances and upholstery. Leave it plain rather than commercial material.
I have to comment on RV Designs, I’m not a fan of Dinner table design, I love how some RV’s are making a small skinny desk area for eating , slide the chair underneath when done, or a Lagun table that swivels, this can makes the whole RV so much bigger. Great show tonight Thanks for sharing

As for RV changes.....maybe build in a better water filtering system one that removes sediment, smell and improves taste.
On toy hauler garages, only call the part of the garage that is completely open from side to side, front to back the garage.
Speaking solely on what I have seen, spend a bit more time on the pass through, basements and clean up the wiring and plumbing.
Surely there have been enough reported incidents of broken plastic fittings to justify at least using brass where you have high failure rates or just use brass.
2nd trip out in our new TT, we had to search for an RV parts store to repair our kitchen sink drainpipe - Ugh. It was split all of the way around the pipe below the collar directly under the drain.

Hi, I'm a drone pilot like u. I'm doing classes and am about to take Part 107 test this year. I want to make money when I'm retired doing drone fishing. I have dji phantom 3 professional right, but about to buy the mini 3 pro bundle. Then you don't need to register the drone it's under 250 grams. For fishing I will be using the swellpro 3. Thanks

I wish manufacturers would start putting wall light switches in the bedroom/bunk rooms just like in the bathrooms.
It’s definitely more intuitive to have it on the wall!
