    Fair warning: there is a lot packed into this episode!
    We had one last adventure on the water in Key West on our friends’, Ron and Joy, boat and spent the day cruising, swimming and snorkeling around the beautiful reef!
    The next day we headed to seRV at the SOS (Star of the Sea) Foundation in Key West, a community kitchen that serves meals to children and the elderly through various programs in Monroe County as well as provides food education to the local community. www.sosfoundation.org/
    Friends from our campground joined us for some organizing, dish washing, chicken shredding and potato cutting! We wrapped up the day with a delicious BBQ!
    We left the Keys and headed to the Tampa RV Show to check out some new RV’s, connect with friends, have a meet-up with Chad and Tara from Changing Lanes at the Grand Design area, seRV for the 2nd year in a row at Feeding Tampa Bay ( servwithpurpose.com ) and have some epic Mario Cart battles outside on our new projector!
    It has always been on our list to work with Habitat for Humanity, so we couldn’t wait to get to Keith and Raini’s (@itsme.rainilee) first Rebuild Rally with Habitat in Fort Myers, Florida. There was some painting, some demolition, some wall raising and even a little singing!
    A huge thank you to Keith and Raini for putting together this event, to Grand Design for providing all of our meals throughout the weekend and to Lee County Sheriff’s Department for hosting us!
    We wrapped this one up with an RV upgrade that Corey really wishes we had done years ago!
    Stay tuned for next week as we share our time at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!

    As an architectural drafter and designer of single family homes nearly the entirety of my 45+ year career, I've volunteered my skills on numerous occasions to HfH. Given that the majority of the homes I've worked on for the past 20+ years have been of the "McMansion" variety, it's especially fulfilling to me, personally, to be able to provide service in housing to low income folks and help them in my capacity as a drafter towards achieving the dream of home ownership. HfH is a GREAT organization which has forever changed the lives of those they've helped and I am very proud to have had the opportunity to work with them.
    Great video, as always.

    Look into Airlift. I installed them on my F150. I'm towing a 21 ft Keystone Hideout and it made a huge difference. The Airlift is about $750 to $800. But since you guys have a bigger truck it might be a little bit more, but definitely worth every dollar spent.

    I would go to air bags guy. Adjustment by putting more or less air makes a big difference. I love them took about 2 2/2 hrs to install them on my 2021 GMC elevation. Since it is a 1/2 ton it made a big difference on rough roads. We have a 22' couples camper and about 500lbs tongue weight. Since 1500's have a soft suspension these air bags make a big difference in stability and ride. We plan on getting a 25' camper later but this truck has 1800lbs of cargo capacity and 9,200lbs towing. Anything bigger I would have to get a 3/4 ton or 1 ton.But I don't plan on anything bigger then 25' since it is just my wife and me and my German Sheppard Maverick lol

    We installed the Sumo springs on our 2015 Chevy 2500 HD and really liked the result while towing our 40ft. fifth wheel. Just get the ride-rite air bag system and be done with it. You'll love how it assists with the height adjustment, but also the quality of ride with it assisting your springs. If you're a fan of the Lippert or Mo-ride suspension systems for your rv, you'll like what it does for your truck. I have not had Sumo Springs but did install air bags. Yes; I am aware they are not meant to increase your load capacity; but they take the squat I had totally out. They also stop any porpoising when crossing bumps or wavy roads. With a little trial & error you discover very quickly how much air to use given the load or road conditions. They were very easy to install (although not as easy as yours) & very easy to add or subtract air. Sumo's are easier to install though. I do have the ability for more adjustment, by adjusting the air pressure. Never even entered my mind to use the tongue jack & trailer to raise the back end. That would have been a lot easier than using my bottle jacks & timber.

    Great video, two things, one, I noticed you use Factory smaller mirrors, I swapped mine out with Factory larger tow mirrors, second thing is I installed airbags on my Chevy Silverado makes a big difference in Towing,It gives you a smoother ride.

      I have the factory smaller mirrors on my 1500. I use a clamp on auxiliary mirror but the small factory mirrors on this generation are actually pretty good! I think if the trailer was only 8’ wide they would be sufficient for my needs.

    Put sumo springs on my 2500 silverado duramax to carry my truck camper. Sold the truck camper but they work great with my 5th wheel. Also put rancho adjustable shocks which stopped any porposing

    Did the same upgrade with our F150 rear snubbers, just different brand (Timbren). The lack of porpoising while going down the road made me wonder why I hadn't done it sooner as well lol.

    I'm buying the new Grand Design Aim. A Small trailer I can tow with my Ford Explorer. I have been watching your channel and Less Junk More Journey for a while. You both have Grand Designs and seem to like there brand. Hope to see you on the road.

    If you are out near Barracuda don't wear shiny jewelry, I been diving with 2 friends off La Jolla shores and we had a school of Barracuda(over 1000 of them) come by and swim circles around our group for a little while, a little creepy but these are west coast variety and not really aggressive. This was the first time I've seen Lillian's name written down, always thought it was Lilly. The red shirts have a slightly different meaning if you're a Star Trek fan.. Just a note about your new Sumo Springs, the location you have added some stress to has moved the load on the axel toward the center which can make it easier to bend your axel, also don't be surprised if you go through wheel bearings faster than normal, not that any of that should be severe but instead of lasting 150,000 miles your bearings may only go 120,000, it's much worse for those that use wheel spacers but similar.

    I had timbrens on a 150 and there wasn’t much travel unloaded and contacted them all the time. Won’t add them to my 250 cause it was such a rough ride. Looking for an airbag system in the future.

    I installed Timbrens on our truck very early on and it solved our squat issue also. These passive solutions, IMHO, are much better that the active air bags. Less maintenance and much cheaper cost…

    Hi Cory & Jess and Girls, hey cory for your truck what about air suspension like a big rig has wouldnt that be better ride all round?

  • @martyfry5654
    @martyfry5654 Před rokem

    Hey Cory! At the end of the video, I see you are using a brush on a pole to clean your truck. What brand of brush are you using there? I like to keep my truck clean also. I have a Chevy dually with an 8 foot bed and it would be nice to have something like that instead of using just a hand sponge. I just don’t want to leave swirl marks on it. It is maroon color and you can see everything in the paint.

    Did you consider Timbren? If so what made you decide to go with Sumo? Hopefully going to add one of these to our GMC in the near future because we are right at max payload when towing our 5th wheel and porpoising sucks.
    We did find that upping the pressure in the front tired to match the rear tires when towing actually helped.

    I would love air bags but don't want to put so much into the truck I have since I am hoping to upgrade in a year or two. Saw this upgrade you did and made me think of doing the same cheaper option. We are weekend warriors, and I do construction with towing the trailer daily. I have been looking and not sure to go with timbren or sumosprings. What made you decide on sumosprings?

  • @stevedenoyer5956
    @stevedenoyer5956 Před rokem +1

    Surprised that trailer makes it squat at all. Is that a 3500? I have a 3500 SRW, and even with my heavy 5th wheel hardly squats at all. Agree open the sumo springs. I think I’ll at least install on the fifth wheel. Travel should be much better either way
